Recap

Sonny gaped at us, rolling his eyes. He either read my mind or my mom told him what was going on in Edgar’s mind because Sonny and Maximus were laughing loudly.

“H-he,” Maximus pointed. “He was afraid you were your mom? And, you had the bright idea to show him you weren’t by showing you and your mom at the same time?” He asked as he busted out laughing again. “Too rich.”

“Is anyone going to unfreeze pop-sickly man?” My mom asked as she finally took a full breath.

Windy’s POV

“Pop-sickly man?”I heard Sony ask, a curious look on his face.

“You have him frozen and he stinks to high heaven,” my mom said in a ‘duh’ tone.

You should read his mind and find out why he stinks,” I told my mom as she looked from me to Jasper.

I watched as her face went through a lot of emotions. But, the last one was anger and relief. She looked at me as I shrugged my shoulders. I knew why she was impressed with me, it was the quickness of pickpocketing the weapons. I knew a lot of the reason we were quick was because of my wolf, Star.

You bet your sweet as it was,” Star boasted as I rolled my eyes at her.

I could see the humor on my mom’s and Sonny’s faces when I looked back at them. I guess Star had shared her message with all of my family. By the looks of Maximus’ wide eyes, he had her too.

“How?” Maximus cleared his throat. “How can she talk to me? Or show me images?”

“Well, she is a Royal Beta,” I trailed off as relief was shown on Maximus’ face.

“I thought I was losing it. As if I had been around so much that all of you could show me things or your wolves could.”

“Only Windy’s and Sonny’s wolves can show or tell you anything,” my mom voiced as she walked over to Maximus and put a calming hand on his shoulder.

“Okay, next up is Jasper,” I heard Sonny say as he brought our attention back to Jasper.

I unfroze the idiot and stinky man. Jasper stood there shaking from the cold he was wrapped in as we took care of Edgar.

Special care for an idiot,” my wolf sarcastically said.

She almost had all three of us laughing again, but we knew we needed to be serious about the matter, Jasper had brought a gun, a serious offense. With Sonny being the Royal King it was a worse offense. I had a feeling Jasper knew what was going to happen to him.

“You are charged with the attempted murder of the Royal King, Jasper. You are one stupid vampyre,” Maximus told him.

I watched as Jasper tensed up. I was quick to get behind Jasper, not knowing what he would do next. Would he challenge Sonny or would he try to run, both would get him killed either way.

“Take him to the cells, Winter, but make sure he stays there,” Sonny tried not to order me. I caught him telling me to use my voice to keep him there. I was confused at first with what he said until I remembered ordering the unwanted company. I must be able to do the same thing.

I pulled him hard and almost threw him out the door, not realizing my strength, yet again. His face hit the wall hard.

Oops.

I made sure he couldn’t teleport at any time. I didn’t want him to get away from me. I grabbed his arm tightly as he winced. I dragged his ass down to the lowest cells we had. When he started stinking he would smell the rogues who were never released. They had done so much bad in the world. I remember my dad telling my mom they could stay in the cells forever to, hopefully, straighten up. It never happened and now they would have a stinky companion to lull them to sleep.

“Hey, Jasper, you are not to leave the cells even if you get a chance to leave,” I told him, causing him to hiss at me.

“Look, boys, you have a companion you will want to kill tonight,” I informed the rogues as I tossed Jasper into the cell and locked the cell door. “Don’t kill him, he has an appointment with the gallows really soon.”

I noticed the rogues perked up at the information I had given them. I turned around and teleported back to my brother’s room where an all-out war was happening. My mom and brother had stopped when they realized I was in the room. “Go ahead and argue, I have nothing better to do.”

I sat back in my chair and watched as both of them looked at each and me. I must have been who they were talking about. I raised an eyebrow at both of them, a silent question to their arguing.

My mom huffed and crossed her arms under her chest. “We weren’t arguing, we were having a conversation.”

“Right,” I sarcastically said. “It sounded as if a war started in this room, well, until you sensed I was here - which means you were arguing about me.” I stared at my mother, looking her straight in the eyes. I was an Alpha, dammit! I knew she was hiding something from me.

My mom sighed. “We were talking about you, okay?” I gave her a pointed look and she sighed again. “I don’t want you hurt. I don’t want you to find your mate yet. You should have had more time to meet him.”

“Well, sorry. It’s going to happen and there’s not one thing we can do. I’m not going to cross my grandma on this. My mind is ready for my mate - my true mate. Grandma warned me about guys who will want my power and will lie to get it. But, she knows I will not fall for their crap. I don’t care if they try to fool me using a witch’s spell. I have a feeling it was part of the reason the Royal Beta wolf, Star, picked me. She didn’t want our mate to wait until I was of age.”

"Surprise, Star,' I thought, knowing she would hear me and evidently putting my thoughts out to my mom and brother.

Really?

How? How did you know one of the reasons I picked you. No one knew this information except me. Our mate will also have a Royal...Nevermind,” my wolf explained, leaving off the part I already knew about. He wouldn’t know what his wolf was until we met.

Too bad. I already know,” I told Star as she huffed and covered her face with her tail.
