Chapter 86 - Meet the Royals
Recap
“Well, sorry. It’s going to happen and there’s not one thing we can do. I’m not going to cross my grandma on this. My mind is ready for my mate - my true mate. Grandma warned me about guys who will want my power and will lie to get it. But, she knows I will not fall for their crap. I don’t care if they try to fool me using a witch’s spell. I have a feeling it was part of the reason the Royal Beta wolf, Star, picked me. She didn’t want our mate to wait until I was of age.”
Windy’s POV
“How? How did you know one of the reasons I picked you. No one knew this information except me. Our mate will also have a Royal...Nevermind,” my wolf explained, leaving off the part I already knew about. He wouldn’t know what his wolf was until we met.
“Too bad. I already know,” I told Star as she huffed and covered her face with her tail.
I heard my mom start to say something, so I gave her my attention. “I know, Windy, I’m scared for both of you and it’s making me nervous. You’re right about your mate. But, I can’t help thinking of you as my little girl,” my mom explained.
I walked over to her and kissed her forehead. “I will be okay, especially having Star as my wolf. She’s sneaky. She will let me know the truth from lies. She takes her position seriously. I know this hard for you. But, you need to trust us. If we weren't ready to be a Royal King or Beta do you really believe we would have picked? You have been training both of us to be Alphas. More so for Sonny. Trust us, Mom.”
“Okay, if you need any help call on Ander or Asher,” my mom stated as she teleported out of my brother’s room. I knew she was hurting. It was hard for her to let us go. It was the same for my brothers, Kaiden and Griffith.
Sonny shook his head. I followed him to the dining room, sitting down in my seat as Sonny shook his head at me. He pulled out a chair next to the head of the table. He proceeded to sit in one of our dad’s chairs. I was so damned confused by what he was doing. But, as soon as my parents walked in I knew they had asked him to sit at the head of the table and had me sit in the Beta position.
My mom cleared her throat. “I’m pleased to announce the Royal King and Royal Beta,” she introduced us as my heart sunk to my feet.
We stood up and everyone was shocked. Their mouths were agape. They snapped their heads to the floor and quickly bowed to Sonny and me. I was a little embarrassed at the situation my mom had put us in. She didn’t have to tell them right away. She could have sent a mind-link to all the pack.
We sat back down as I watched my parents walk over to us and sat down. I gave my mom a hard stare. I didn’t understand why she didn’t wait. I knew I had to get used to being bowed down to. But, that didn’t mean I had to like it.
I felt Sonny elbow me as he nodded his head to the food on the table. I looked around and noticed no one had taken a bite yet. I sighed and put some food on my plate, taking a quick bite. I had a feeling I would be sighing a lot.
“Well, now the cats out of the bag,” my mom commented as my mouth dropped open.
I snapped my mouth shut. “You could have told them through the link, Mom. I can’t believe you,” I whispered harshly.
“You needed to get used to being bowed at and not snap at anyone,” my dad told me as he smirked at me.
Star growled at me. She wasn’t happy at all. I knew she was used to being bowed to, but she needed to see it through my eyes too. I had to grow up quickly. Literally. I had people nod to me, being I am a child of the Alphas. But, I’ve never had anyone bow to me. I mean, come on, they lay prostrate on the ground. I wasn’t used to it at all. I sighed again.
“You better get used to it, Windy! We are Royal Beta’s! That means we can’t growl at anyone because they bow to us! You feel me?” My wolf screamed at me, giving me a headache and a half.
“I got it, Star. I will try to not go crazy if someone bows down to us. Just remember I’ve never had a wolf before. I’m still getting used to it, plus, I had to grow up too fast. Yes, my brain was older but my body was not.”
“Your body better get used to it. Plus, wait until you meet your mate. Good thing our mom had a talk about mates and what goes on,” my wolf teased me and let out a wolfy snicker as my cheeks heated up.
“Are you okay, Windy?” my brother, Sonny, asked me.
“Uh, yeah. I’m talking with Star,” I quickly told him, taking a bite out of my food. I’m sure he knew what was up. He’s the King and he should know everything that was going on. I sure as hell wasn't going to tell him what wolf was talking about, not at all.
I made sure to be interested in my food more than talking. I was so hungry I ate two plates full of food and now I was snacking on pickles and cream cheese. I know it sounds gross but it's actually really good.
“Come on, Windy, we need to get some sleep if we are going to be ready to teleport at five.
I watched my mom as she stood up and bowed her head to me, knowing I couldn’t stand when she bowed or anyone either. I gave her a pleading face, of course, she just smirked at me. She stared at me with a huge grin on her face, until she wasn’t smiling anymore.
Well, shit!
