Chapter 134 - I Hear Voices
Dedicated to...Well, I think everyone could guess by now, but here we go. Thank you, @oddball, @PenumbraMINE, and @N.Y.O.B.
Recap
I knew Sony didn’t want me to leave his side, but Windy and I had a great plan. I heard Sonny through the mind-link say, “I have always liked fireworks, Kat.”
“Me, too. I’m going to step them up and teleport the women to the safe room. I’ve already let Tyler know what was going on, then I’m going to blow the fucking cells to smithereens.”
Kat’s POV
Windy covered both of us in a veil of invisibility as we walked towards the cells, stepping lightly, not wanting our steps to be heard. I heard a scream before we got too far. Windy and I looked at each other as she teleported us to the sound. What we saw was not for the faint of heart. My heart stuttered, my breath stopping in my throat. I wanted to scream, curse, kill. I felt myself breaking on the inside and I wanted to hide from what I was seeing.
Ander was almost translucent, his skin chalky. He looked as if he had been starved for years. It wasn't something my mate needed to see but it was something I couldn't handle on my own. I needed him to settle my panic and shakiness. I couldn't believe they had gotten their claws into him.
I gulped air into my lungs.“S-Sonny, teleport to me please. Now!” I mind-linked my mate, crying on the inside. I didn't want him to see his brother as he was, but he needed to see for himself. Was I a bitch to think so? Not really but I felt as if I was one.
“Do not believe everything you see,” floated through my mind, pausing my heart for a second time. I wanted to know who's voice I was hearing but it was the least of my concerns. If it was helping us then I was all for it.
I felt the air change around me. I reached out and had Sonny’s throat in my hands. I quickly dropped my hands and laid my head on his chest. I wanted to cry but I couldn’t get the voice out of my head. I knew it wasn’t Ander’s voice but I couldn’t figure out who would whisper in my mind.
“Someone keeps whispering in mind, telling me, ’don’t believe everything you see.’
I felt him nod his head. “Stop what you are doing right now!” I heard Sonny yell, using his Royal Alpha King voice.
Everyone stopped moving until we heard laughing. A woman stepped out from behind a shed, clapping her hands and laughing. It was an evil laugh, one I would never get out of my head. It made me want to shiver but I wasn’t going to show any fear. I would show revolution but not fear.
“Why the hell is no one listening to me?” I heard Sonny ask through the mind-link.
“You can’t control unnatural, just supernatural, Sonny,” I explained, not understanding how I knew this. “And, this Bruja has spelled her witches, too.”
I watched the woman walk up to Ander and smile. “Do you like my new science project? He was very hesitant and tried to protect himself by erecting a barrier. You see how that turned out.”
“How? How did you get to him?” I was curious. Ander was powerful and wouldn’t have made it easy on her. He could teleport out of anything, so what the hell happened?
“Oh,” she smiled, the evil back in her eyes and voice. “My witches made some great stuff. It will render anyone unconscious. I don’t care what they are spelled for, it works great,” the Bruja bragged as I tried not to vomit. “But, he still needs another dose to be completely mine.” I watched as she brought out a needle and closed in on Ander’s neck. I swiped my hand through the air, the needle landing in one of the witches, causing the witch to scream.
Oopsie
The Bruja looked at me threateningly as I smiled back, smirking at her heated look. I knew she was mad she had lost a witch, but I didn’t give a fuck. Ander’s family and no one messes with my family.
I saw the witches as they moved closer to the Bruja. I wanted to roll my eyes at them. I had my hands behind my back, waiting for this moment. I took away their spell and circled my finger, closing a special rope around them, one they wouldn’t be able to get out of. My Royal Beta wolf gave me a lot of new powers and I had never been happier for it than now.
I noticed the Bruja trying to free them and wanted to laugh at her stupidity. It didn’t matter if she was supernatural or otherwise, there was no way she would be able to break this one. I decided it was time to get rid of all the drugs she had. I rolled my fingers and pulled, the whole vat tipped over and the skinwalker crap she used was put in Sonny’s office. I knew she was going to scream, so I muffled the sound for all of us. She did as I thought she would and screamed as if she was a banshee.
Predictable
Fucking
Idiot!
When we didn’t duck down or make any move, she glared at me and started a spell, one I knew was a bad one, one I knew would make me feel as if I was in hell. I had this spell thrown at me before and I didn’t relish the thought of the pain again. I tried to erect a barrier as quick as I could but I only got part of it up.
I screamed as if the shadow demons had taken me with them. I knew I had blocked part of it but she was strong. I stood in my place for about ten-seconds, frozen with fear and pain, my heart racing and my legs shaking. I knew it could have been worse, but try telling my body that. It was intense, debilitating, and hell. Just as I was about to hit the ground from the pain taking over my body Sonny grabbed me and placed his hand on my forehead, taking most of the pain away. I was still breathing hard, but now I was pissed.
“Calm, mate, she wants you to lash out in anger. We will take her down because of her actions, but not in anger,” Sonny told me through the mind-link as he wiped the sweat off my forehead. I nodded my head, hiding the pain I was still in. I smirked at the Bruja, noticing movement behind her.
Well, shit!
A/N: Sorry, not sorry. I couldn't help it. This was the best stopping point. Is anyone ready for the battle to commence? Just a little longer.
