From Here to Ecstasy

Chapter 135 - Stench Of Death

Dedicated to oddball, PenumbraMINE, and N.Y.O.B. You guys are the best. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Recap

I screamed as if the shadow demons had taken me with them. I knew I had blocked part of it but she was strong. I stood in my place for about ten-seconds, frozen with fear and pain, my heart racing and my legs shaking. Just as I was about to hit the ground Sonny grabbed me and placed his hand on my forehead, taking most of the pain away. I was still breathing hard, but now I was pissed.

“Calm, mate, she wants you to lash out in anger. We will take her down because of her actions, not in anger,” Sonny told me through the mind-link as he wiped the sweat off my forehead. I nodded my head, hiding the pain I was still in. I smirked at the Bruja, noticing movement behind her.

Well, shit!

Summer’s POV

I heard Kat ask us to move in behind the Bruja. I took half of our warriors while the rest of them took care of the people in this sick pack. The women were being teleported to the safe room at the castle, instructions sent to keep them safe. I knew Sonny had put a spell at the door of the safe room so I wasn’t worried about anyone other than my son. But, I had to remember my mom’s words. I didn’t want to lose my child. My heart already hurt from him being taken. Now, I had to see the Bruja’s holding my child by his arm.

I got into position behind the skinwalkers, all of us pulling our swords out. “Do not take my son out or you will know what hell feels like.” I knew I was too rough on them, so I did what any mother would do. “Please, don’t hurt him. I can’t lose one of my children,” I pleaded, tears in my eyes.

Yes, Alpha,” is all I heard through the mind-link as I steadied myself and pulled power from the bottom of my soul, making sure to hide any power leakage. Nobody moved, not one muscle. We were waiting on Sonny or Kat to give us the go-ahead.

I felt movement in front of me and smelt the stench of death. I figured it was rogues or skinwalkers. But, we stayed in our positions and waited.

Don’t believe everything you see when it comes to Ander. Work with him. It will seem as if he had done wrong but watch and wait for your signal,” I heard Kat whisper in all our minds, causing me to break out in a small smile.

Okay,” I whispered back, almost wanting to bounce on my toes, feeling happy we could end this. But, I knew I had to hold myself back and keep an eye on what was going on in front of us.

The smell was getting worse by the minute. I was so close to throwing up but I couldn’t give our positions away. I teleported everyone's bandannas and was happy to see everyone move in slow motion as they tied them around their nose and mouth.

I could hear the Bruja bragging about having my son. I wanted to punch her in the face so bad but I still held my ground. I heard Kat say something back. All of sudden my hearing went muffled as did the guards surrounding me. I tried to hear what was being said when I heard a banshee-like scream. Oh, now I understood why our hearing was muffled. I was happy Kat helped everyone from losing their hearing.

Then, I heard a scream of pain from Kat, causing me to almost teleport to her. “No! Don’t move!” Kat ordered, causing the hair on my arms to stand up from the power in her voice.

Well, okay then.

I knew Kat was a powerful witch before she became the Royal Queen, but I was surprised at how powerful she was. I knew she was trying to keep us steady even when she was in pain. I had to shake my head mentally at how tough she really was.

I felt movement behind me. I immediately pulled my blade and held it up, noticing the warriors do the same. I smiled at my warriors, letting the Royal warriors know they were with us. We all pocketed our blades, sliding them in their slots on our chests. I made sure my warriors were dressed in our usual attire. I quickly changed my clothing to those of my warriors, covering my face with my mask. I could tell the Royal warriors were surprised at our clothing considering they all cracked a smile after they picked up their jaws from the ground.

Now, we wait. No one moves until Sonny or his mate Kat tells us to, okay? I will let you know when to move. “Well, my body shooting forward will let you know,” I told my warriors. “Also, don’t hurt Ander no matter what he looks like. I was told not to believe everything I see, got it?”

Yes, Alpha Summer,” all my warriors said through the mind-link, bowing their heads mentally.

It seemed as if I had been waiting for hours when it had only been twenty minutes. I couldn’t understand why the skinwalkers were standing so still, but I had a feeling the Bruja was in charge of their movements.

I wanted to shudder every time I looked at them. They were deformed. They were animalistic with deformed faces. Their blazing orange-red eyes could draw you in, letting them steal a piece, if not all, of your soul. I knew they could take shape in several forms, but they were mostly coyotes. They were unnatural and could raise corpses from death, well, from their natural death.

They stank like death.

Yuck!

I needed to warn all of the warriors. I wasn't sure if they knew about skinwalkers and what they could do, but I didn't want them to die. “Don’t look the skinwalkers in the eyes. I have tried to protect you as much as possible, but take off their heads and pull their hearts out. They can look like your best friend, mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, or uncle. They can even take my form, so call out through the mind-link if you have a question. You should be able to tell by their stench, okay?” I warned everyone, making sure to let the Royal warriors, Alpha Black, and my warriors know. I didn’t want them hurt or to hurt one of their family members. “If you are family, letting out a whistle or a chirp through the mind-link and we should all be safe, okay?”

Yes, Alpha Summer,” I heard from all three pack warriors and Alphas, making me almost sag in relief.

Almost.

Mom, my warriors and I are on the East side of the territory,” Griffith told me, giving me a sense of relief that they were here to help, too.

Mom, we are on the West side of the ass-wipes territory with my warriors and my mate,” Kaiden told me through the mind-link.

I hoped he knew what the hell he was doing with his pregnant mate being here but I knew he had some kind of plan. He would never put his mate in harm. Never. “Thanks, boys. Did you get the same message about Ander being-” I tried to say.

-yes. We also got the message about not making a move until Sonny or Kat tell us,” Griffith cut in as I let out a huff to myself.

I took a deep breath, steadying myself even more. I knew this was going to be a fight of our lifetime, but we needed to stop this evil from being around anymore. I knew Kat sent the witches, who helped the Bruja, to the cells and spelled them from ever leaving again. I wanted to be there when they learned their fates. They helped to make this dust that made the skinwalkers. They killed our pack members and others, aligning themselves with the Bruja. I don’t know any coven that would take them back or stand for their defense. I heard a noise from the Bruja. It was a clicking sound, one I had heard before but where?

Well, shit!

A/N: Yep, I did it again. Now that we are closer to the battle and the end of this book, what are your thoughts about another one with the grandkids and kids? Let me know. I will be making a sequel to Project Rescue, so if you like action, weapons, and cat shifters please check out both.

Thanks for reading.
