From Here to Ecstasy

Recap

I smiled at Sonny’s actions. I knew he was kind and true. Everything he did showed his people his worth. “Thank you,” I softly said as I leaned over and pecked his forehead.

I looked around and saw the Elders with a shocked expression on their faces. “You might want to see what’s going on with the Elder’s expressions.”

I watched Sonny turn and look at the Elders. “Are you okay, Elder’s?”

Kat’s POV

I watched Sonny turn and look at the Elders. “Are you okay, Elder’s?”

“Um, oh yes. I’m pleasantly surprised at your actions with your Omega’s. As I said before, you are a great Royal Alpha King. Not one King has worried about his lower pack members before, not like you did. It was something we have been waiting for. Now, if we can get other packs to treat their Omega’s the same it would be a great feat,” Elder Wise stated, a smile on his face.

“Well, I am the Royal Alpha King.” Sonny sat in a thinking pose. “Maybe I should make it a Royal decree to treat all your pack members the same as you would want to be treated. Some Alpha’s have taken to having power and have thought they could treat their members like trash-”

“-or, take mates who are not theirs,” I cut him off, thinking about a certain Alpha who thought I would make him a great mate but he wasn’t my mate.

“Who tried to take my mate from me, Kat?” He asked me calmly.

I looked at him, wanting to make sure he wasn’t angry. I didn’t want him to go all caveman on me. “It was Alpha Alverez of the El Lobos pack. I’m originally from Spain and when I was traveling here he thought he could hold me in his dungeons until I agreed to be his mate. What the idiot didn’t know was I was already a wolf and could hide the scent of my wolf from him, so he thought I was a low-level witch. He’s still looking for me but I knew I needed to get here as fast as I could before he caught me and drugged me enough to think he was you.”

“Okay. We will deal with him this week. These Alpha’s want to take someone’s Goddess given mate need to be addressed and soon. Thank you for finding me as soon as you could,” Sonny calmly stated as he hugged me to him.

All the Elders stood up and clapped their hands, bowing again. “Thank the Moon you will take care of this. My mate was almost taken from me from one of the Alphas. I was going to his pack to make my yearly check and found her in the dungeon with a mark she rejected. I pulled her out of the dungeon with the help of a witch. I just realized it was your mate, Royal Alpha King,” Elder Wise said, a smile on his face when he looked at me.

I realized I knew this man. He was kind to me when I wasn’t allowed to open my mouth. He thought I was mute as the idiot Alpha told him. He was loving to his mate, something I wanted at the time. I wanted to see this from my mate, not knowing he was going to love me more. “Wait! Why is he trying to take Goddess given mates?”

“What a great question, Kat,” the Moon Goddess commented as he hugged me and everyone else bowed, well, Sonny didn’t.

“We need to find out why. Is he only taking mates to other Alpha’s or Elder’s?” I questioned mostly to myself, not realizing everyone heard me.

“Very good question, Kat. We need to have an Alpha meeting.” Sonny looked at the Elders. “Elder’s, do you think you could stay for the meeting?”

One of the Elder women stood up. “We wouldn’t miss it for the world. Someone tried to take my mate away and tried to make him mate with another woman when we were coming to their pack to take their Alpha to our courts. The Alpha disappeared and we haven’t seen him in a long time.”

“I’m curious if this has happened to a lot of Alphas and Elders. We need to find an artist to do a rendering of the man you are speaking of. It’s important to see if this man has taken over another pack such as the El Lobos pack,” Sonny spoke softly, a questioning tone in his voice. I knew he was wanting to know who this man was. It was a sin to take mates of another. But, this 'man' didn't care about hurting others. He only wanted someone to give him strong pups. I was happy I had hidden my scent and power or he would have mated with me on the spot.

“I’ll leave you to it then.” The Moon Goddess paused. “Oh, and I can’t help you with this problem, okay? I’m sorry but my hands are tied in this war we are waging.”

I read between the lines, knowing she was dropping hints when she couldn’t say anything about the trouble that was coming. She smiled at me, knowing I was putting pieces of the puzzle together. I nodded and watched her disappear.

“What was that?” Sonny asked me as he stroked my arm.

“That, dear mate, was your grandmother dropping hints for us to follow when she knew she couldn’t out-right tell us because of some rules she has to follow,” I answered through our mind-link.

“What did we miss?” Windy asked as she bowed her head to the Elders and us. She took a seat and filled her and Ares’ plate.

“A lot,” I answered cheekily as everyone laughed. I shrugged my shoulders and looked at Sonny.

“We’ll talk about it later in my office.” Sonny gave her a pointed look. “And, why were you late?” I knew he had picked on her just to change the subject for now. I wasn’t sure how I knew but I did.

Windy and Ares blushed at Sonny’s question. “Uh, we got caught up doing something,” Windy replied as she looked down and laced her fingers with Ares.

“Or, someone,” I said through our family mind-link as Windy blushed even more. “Hey, at least I said what I did through our family link and didn’t accidentally send it to everyone. And, I wanted to be late, too.” I saw Sonny’s eyes almost pop out of his head and laughed. I knew we would be too busy working before bed tonight.

I heard Windy cough awkwardly, causing me to quickly look at her. “I see you and Sonny completed the mating ritual.” Now, it was my turn to blush and her to laugh at me. I guess I deserved her teasing.

When we were done eating Sonny stood up, pulling me up with him. “Elders, Beta couple, we need to go to my office to talk about this what's happening to mates and why. If you will follow me, please. The elders nodded their heads and followed behind Windy and Ares as we led the way to Sonny’s office, one I didn’t know about until now.
