Chapter 108 - Let The Circus Begin
Dedicated to N.Y.O.B and oddball. You make my day when I read your comments. Thank you.
Recap
My brothers were very powerful, so it was a surprise to me to hear their words. I knew I was all up in my head about everything. I never wanted to be powerful. I always dreamed of having a wolf but that really all. I was thankful for everything that had happened to me but it wasn’t in me to want anything else, well, except for a mate.
I heard my mate clear his throat, causing me to jump a little. “We need to head back to the King, Windy. Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I was just thinking about what my brothers’ said. I’m okay though,” I softly answered as I hugged his shoulder.
We made it back to Sonny’s room but before I could mind-link him that we were at the door I heard crashing from inside.
Windy’s POV
We made it back to Sonny’s room but before I could mind-link him that we were at the door I heard crashing from inside. Ares and I broke the spell on the door and surged inside, seeing two men trying to kill Sonny. I shook my head at the idiots and went after them, Ares at my side. I noticed they smelled dead - completely dead.
Oh, shit!
“Put them down fast, Ares. These skinwalkers used to be wolves but they are gone completely,” I told him quickly through our mind-link. “Take their heads off of their bodies, then their hearts. Don’t let the pieces close to their bodies or you won’t like what happens next.”
I had the skinwalker in my hands, dodging his hands. I didn’t want him to touch me but I knew it was inevitable. I reached for my short sword strapped to my back and cut his head off, stabbing his eyes too. I reached down and ripped his heart out of his body, stabbing his heart and cutting it to pieces.
I cut my eyes over to Ares and noticed he was trying to stay away from a needle the skinwalker had in his hand. My heart pounded in fright, not knowing what was in the syringe. I felt dizzy with fear but I knew I couldn’t act on my fears until this mess was over. It didn’t take me any time to cut off the hand that was holding the needle. It was all Ares needed to rip off the skinwalker’s head and claw out his heart. I made quick work of stabbing its eyes and chopping the heart into a million pieces. I probably went a little overboard with the skinwalker’s heart but I was still shaking and I was making sure he never came back.
Ares walked up to me and grabbed the short sword in my hand, dropping it on a table. “You’re okay,” he tried to soothe me. “I’m fine but we need to check on your brother and send these bodies far away from their head and hearts, okay?”
“My brother!” I ran over to Sonny as he sat up and shuddered. “Are you okay? Did you get stuck with whatever was in the needle? Talk to me, Sonny!”
Sonny started laughing as he hugged me. “I’m fine. You two got here at the perfect time. Damn, those skinwalkers are tough but my sister and her mate are tougher. If I wasn’t trying to stay away from whatever was in the needle I would have been fine, but they jumped at me at the same time. I don’t know how they got in here. Maybe I forgot to spell the room again.”
I breathed a sigh of relief. I was still shaking and my breathing wasn't back to normal but I couldn't help it. He was my brother, my twin, and I didn't want to lose either of them. It was too close for comfort but I knew it wasn't quite over.
Damn it!
Spell, oh yeah, he wanted and needed to know about the spell. “Uh, come to think of it the spell on the door wasn’t yours but someone else’s. That means someone is in the castle under false pretenses and I have a feeling our younger brothers wanted to see how we will deal with the person,” I explained as I narrowed my eyes at my brothers in the corner of the room, thinking they were hidden. “Right, Ander and Asher?”
“We did send the parts of the skinwalkers to different volcanoes,” Asher whined as my eyes narrowed at him more.
“You could have caused your brother’s death, you dummies,” I muttered under my breath.
“We would have jumped in before he was hurt. What do you take us for, heartless?” Asher asked as he crossed his arms over his little chest, Ander copying his brother.
I rolled my eyes. “Well, how about the witch you let in?” I asked as I started pacing the room.
“Oh, she will be taken care of soon if Sonny’s mate has anything to say about it,” Ander answered, a goofy grin on his face.
“What? My mate?” Sonny asked as pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head to keep himself from asking anything else. I was sure the boys were reading Sonny’s mind as I was, well, until Sonny slammed a mental barrier down.
“Aww, no fun,” Ander pouted as I lightly popped the back of his head.
“Come on, we need to get ready now and go,” I stated as I put my robe over my clothes after I strapped my sword on my back, making sure Ares had one on him. I could hear the silver sing, knowing no one would want to be close to us - which was a good thing.
Ares and I walked behind Sonny, making sure to cover his back, our guard following us. It seemed to take forever to get to the court and I was glad I had made our robes less heavy or I would have passed out from the heat. As soon as Sonny sat down we sat down a little towards his left but behind him.
Time for the circus to start.
“Everyone, sit! We need to get this trial started.” I watched as Sonny paused and looked at everyone. “Good. Does anyone have anything to say before we start?”
“I do,” a woman answered as Sonny nodded her head towards her. “Mate.”
“Really? You are my mate?” He asked as he crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head no.
This imposter was going to have her ass handed to her and I couldn't wait for the show. If she thought Sonny, her King, would let her slide on her lies, she had another thing coming. I couldn't believe the gall of these lying sacks of shits trying to confess they are our mates.
“Really.”
“No, you aren’t, bitch!” A woman yelled as she walked to the woman, slapping her hard. “I can see how many people you’ve spelled since you got here. You’re an idiot. And, as you were telling my mate you were his...” She paused. “You. Were. Shaking. Your. Head. No,” she told her, emphasizing each word.
Sonny’s mate must have picked up someone moving behind her...
