Chapter 107 - Royal Beta's

Dedicated to oddball. Thank you for always commenting and making my day. I love your wit and humor.

Recap

Someone cleared their throat loudly, making Ares and I to jump apart. I was so into the kiss I didn’t notice anyone in the room.

“I brought my tailor to help you two get ready. We have court in thirty-minutes and I rather not spend them watching my sister, my twin, suck face with her mate. I didn’t know if you were going to strip each other out of their clothes and I didn’t want to watch you two go at it,” I heard Sonny say as a smirk appeared on his face.

“Just wait until you meet your mate, you will be the same way,” I stated, a blush coating my face.

“Uh-huh, right,” he stated mockingly.

Windy’s POV

“I guess you will see. And, mom and dads’ you can come out of the place you think you’re hiding in,” I sarcastically said as I turned to where they were in the shadows.

My dad, Blaine, opened his mouth and closed it several times. I could hear the question on his mind. I pointed to myself. “Me, Royal Beta.” I pointed at him. “You, Alpha of the strongest pack.”

Everyone started laughing at my comment. I joined in with them, holding my stomach as I went through my dad’s emotions when I explained everything to him. He was surprised first, then he looked as if he had forgotten, then he was contrite. Yes, comical. My dad was wondering how I read his mind when it was blocked from everyone. I could read his mind when I was still human. I didn’t know why it was easy for me and not any of my family. I didn’t care, it was something I could do differently than my brothers and sisters.

It was mine.

“Royal Beta,” the tailor greeted me as he bowed his head. “I will get your vestments and make sure they are the ones I made, if this pleases you.”

I went to nod but stopped myself. “I had visitors earlier and I need to make sure the silver is out of the vestments you made me before you touch them, okay?”

“Yes, Royal Beta. Thank you for letting me know,” the tailor said with another bow.

I walked into the closet, the tailor following me to make sure I got the one he had made. I knew which one was his by his scent. I spelled all the silver to lift from the clothes and teleported a jar to put it in. I made sure all of it went into the jar. I noticed the vestments for Ares and did the same as I did with mine.

I turned and smiled at our tailor. “Here you go. I made sure there wasn’t any silver in them. I will get my mother to help me get ready. If it needs to be tailored a little more I will gladly let you make sure it hangs on me properly.” I handed him the vestments, well, the one for Are’s and walked to our bathroom, my mom following me.

My mom helped me get dressed. I didn’t want to wear the heavy robe. I felt as if I was suffocating. I was hot as hell and I couldn’t move fast enough in the robe. How the hell did they expect anyone to fight if they had to? I whined and pleaded with my mother to please do something to make my vestments not as heavy and hot. But, she would cut her eyes at me and tisk under her breath. I knew she was just as confused about the robe as I was, but she didn’t know what to do. Well, shit! I’m an idiot. I put all my thoughts about the robe into a spell and snapped my fingers.

“What?” I heard from my mother.

“It’s not as hot and I can move around now. How was I supposed to fight if I had to?” I told my mother as she nodded in approval.

Finally.

I looked in the mirror and noticed the robe looked the same, but it didn’t feel the same at all. I thought about Sonny and Ares’ robes, knowing Sonny’s would be even heavier. I spelled his and Ares robes the same as mine and heard swearing coming from the other room. I heard a lot of laughter as well.

I opened the door and walked into our room. “You’re welcome, guys,” I sarcastically said.

“Huh? I thought mom had spelled the robes, but thank you, Windy. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to breathe during court,” Sonny said to me.

I nodded my head and smirked at him. I felt Ares pull on my fat braid, making his presence known. “I will thank you later,” he whispered in my ear as he pulled me closer.

I snorted, knowing we would both be too tired to do anything when court was over. I needed to bring some energy bars with me. I needed to make sure Ares and I kept up our energy. I moved to the foot locker at the end of our bed and pulled out a lot of energy bars, making sure there was no silver in the food.

I huffed and threw the energy bars into the wastebasket. “Stupid mutts. How dare they touch my energy bars,” I muttered.

“Do you need more, Windy?” My mom asked as she whipped out a bag with the energy bars I loved.

I nodded my head. “Yes please. Ares and I will be needing some throughout the court proceedings. I won’t touch any of the food that is made here. I don’t trust easily.”

“Good girl,” my dad, Blaine, said with pride showing on his face.

My dad handed me one of the bags and I looped it around my arm, making the bag look as if it was a purse. I saw my mates eyes almost bug out of his face, making me laugh lightly.

“I can’t wait to learn more spells, but don’t we have somewhere we need to be?” My mate asked as he smiled at me and stuck his arm out for me to take. I was about to loop my hand over his arm but changed my mind and grabbed his hand instead. I loved the tingles I got from touching him. I couldn’t believe I found my everything.

“Thank you for your vestments, they are beautiful,” I told the tailor as he smiled and bowed his head again before leaving the room. I really liked him a lot. He was serious about his job and respectful, too. Although, the bowing every time was a little too much.

“Windy, you and Ares will be at the door at the back of the court.” We nodded. “Mom, if you and dads can take the castle doors? Oh, and if I talk to you at court I will have to use your names, instead of calling you my parents, okay?” Sonny asked as gave us a small smile. “I won’t be coming out until right before the court time, evidently it’s how it’s done. I’ll be safe in this spelled room. Windy and Ares, you will need to meet me back here before we walk to court, okay?”

I nodded my head, my wolf, Star, telling me the same thing as well as was Ares wolf. “No problem,” I answered. I could tell he was nervous but he was ready to start the first proceedings.

Per Sonny’s instructions, we took off our robes and left them with Sonny. We didn’t want to be singled out as the Royal Beta couple as we truth spelled everyone. I wanted to make sure there wasn’t anyone under a spell of a witch. I didn’t need anyone lying. I knew we could break just about any spell, but it would take a lot of energy to pull off. Of course, I could have just asked Asher and Ander to help, considering they were following behind us.

How do you always know where we are, Windy?” Asher asked with a grin on this face, startling Ares with how my brothers settled on our shoulders, causing me to laugh loudly.

Is this your mate, Windy? Anders asked via the mind-link. I rolled my eyes at them.

Yes, quit trying to scare Ares. Hey, why am I spelling the doors if you two can do this in your sleep?” I asked as I folded my arms over my chest.

Well, we wanted to say hi. We already truth spelled the doorway-” Ander tried to say but was cut off.

“-we also spelled the castle doors against other spells from witches. It will take away any glamour they use, too,” Asher stated, a huge smile on his face as he dusted his hands off.

Ares, these are my youngest brothers but don’t let them fool you into thinking they are sweet little kids. They are more powerful than all of my family put together.” I watched as Ares gulped. “And, boys, if you do anything to my mate I will skin you alive, go it?”

Yes, Royal Beta.” My brothers said together. “But, you are more powerful than us now, especially considering you found your Royal Beta.”

What?” I was startled at what my brothers said to me. My mouth opened large enough to catch flies before I snapped my jaw closed. Asher and Ander nodded their heads without saying anything at all.

My brother’s were very powerful, so it was a surprise to me to hear their words. I knew I was all up in my head about everything. I never wanted to be powerful. I always dreamed of having a wolf but that really all. I was thankful for everything that had happened to me but it wasn’t in me to want anything else, well, except for a mate.

I heard my mate clear his throat, causing me to jump a little. “We need to head back to the King, Windy. Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I was just thinking about what my brothers’ said. I’m okay though,” I softly answered as I hugged his shoulder.

We made it back to Sonny’s room but before I could mind-link him that we were at the door I heard crashing from inside.
