Chapter 78
"Yes! Did you forget about that party in a few days?"
Scarlett didn't forget it, but she didn't understand what the dress was about.
"Come on! Try it on and show me! If the size doesn't fit, I'll have the tailor alter it!"
On the other end of the phone, Alexis pushed so hurriedly, and she didn't give Scarlett any time to hesitate. Scarlett could do nothing but agree, "OK, I'll go and try it on!"
"Go, go!"
"Beep-beep-."
Alexis hung up the phone. Looking at the screen going dark, Scarlett smiled helplessly. She unpacked the package and went into the dressing room to change into the dress.
The dress was this year's T's new flower series. It was a halter slim-waisted style. The top half of the dress was embroidered with light purple petals and darker purple branches, like a climb on the dress of eternal flowers. Parts of the petals were inlaid with crystals, and the dress with a gradient color looked shiny and fairy in the lamplight.
Scarlett looked at the dress in the mirror. She liked it.
She took a picture and was about to send it to Alexis. Just then, Alexis popped up on the video chat.
Scarlett pressed connect. Alexis was putting on her makeup. "Let me see."
Alexis was relatively calm with others by her side.
Scarlett smiled, turned the camera to the front, and looked at herself inside the mirror.
"Perfect!" Alexis exclaimed. Then she hung up the video call. She sent a lot of compliments to Scarlett.
Scarlett changed out of the dress and hung it up. She grabbed her phone and went downstairs. She was cooking herself some food while replying to Alexis's messages.
Scarlett was in a good mood after receiving such a fabulous dress.
Raymond, by contrast, was not in such a good mood.
Frank soon learned about the negotiation going on between Ethen and Scarlett.
But he never expected Scarlett was actually Suny's secretary.
Frank reported everything to Raymond. Seeing the look on Raymond's face was not happy, the secretary basically knew what his boss was thinking.
After a second of hesitance, Frank couldn't help himself but say, "Mr. Shaw, actually, Ms. Reed's profile is not bad."
Scarlett got into the finance school at A university with the third-highest grade. And from elementary school to high school, she almost always ranked first in grade.
It was a couple of days ago, after the two divorced, that Frank thought Scarlett wasn't so bad and he looked her up on the Internet.
He didn't use any of his connections. Just by searching online, he learned Scarlett's history.
To be honest, Scarlett's family background was not as profound as Raymond's, but she was good enough for Raymond in every other aspect.
Frank used the word "not too bad", and he felt he was a little too modest with Scarlett.
At Frank's comment, Raymond snorted, "Indeed, she's a good bidder!"
Well, that was all prejudice!
Of course, Frank didn't have the courage to argue with his boss. He could only add timidly, "Mr. Shaw, perhaps you could search Ms. Reed online." Raymond gave him a cold glance, "Why would I search for her?"
Was that woman so great?
Frank was intimidated. He didn't dare to say anymore. Then he used an excuse to leave the office.
Raymond was alone in the office. He was sitting in his chair, and somehow he typed the name "Scarlett" into the search bar on the computer. Then he regretted it immediately. Before he could close the page, however, he saw a strange yet familiar picture of Scarlett. He frowned. He couldn't help but click in.
It was Scarlett in her fifteen-year-old. She was the only first-place winner in Juanton City at the Math Olympiad National Competition.
That was not the most important thing. What surprised Raymond most was that when he looked at the photo of Scarlett, he felt some familiarity.
