Chapter 17 Pranking
"Wait for it...," Becca said in a whisper, making Sarah and Kate giggled.
They've set a prank for Paige. It was a classic prank, but it should be funny anyway. Plus, it would teach her a lesson. Well, Becca hopes it would teach Paige a lesson. More like a payback for what she heard in the restroom the other day. They giggled as Paige, along with her Latina friend, walked to her locker. Paige's expression changed immediately when she saw it. It was huge and drawn in a graffiti across her locker. The graffiti said BITCH in black and red. It was absolutely eye-catching and everyone who passed by looked at the graffiti on her locker and snickered or whispered.
Paige's face went red in anger and embarrassment. She walked to her locker, put in her combination numbers and when she opened it, lots and lots of spiders and other insects sprung out to her face. She screamed in fear and shocked. Becca, Sarah, and Kate burst into laughter as Paige jumped up and flicked her hands, tried to get rid of the insects that were crawling all over her while letting out an unflagging scream. They swore the whole city could hear her scream. Her Latina friend also got insect-bomb. Spiders and other insects crawled on her too, but not as much as Paige. Her reaction was the same as Paige and Becca couldn't hold her laughter. It was definitely drew attention to the whole school and the students started to surround them, making a circle around them. Some were laughing, some were worried, some were just standing there and watch. It was definitely epic!
"Exactly as I predicted," Becca commented in between her laughs. "You're brilliant," Kate said.
"This is a total success," Sarah said next and they shared high fives.
"We totally got that b*tch," Becca smiled in triumph.
"I know she's a mean girl and all, but why do you want to get back to her? What exactly did she do to you?" Kate asked. Her eyes were full of curiosity.
"Let's just say she said something that offend me behind my back and I overheard it," Becca said, trying not to be too specific. After all, she didn't want her friends to know about what Paige said about her.
Mr. Dick Face -- oops! Mr. Rick Faye, along with some teachers, marched to Paige's locker to see what the fuss was all about. He broke through the crowd and found Paige and her Latina friend were occupied, shooing the insects away from their hair, face, and body to no avail.
"The show's over! Get back to your class!" Mr. Faye shouted to the crowd, drew attention to him.
The students immediately scattered and scurried to their class, didn't want to get involved. Paige and her friend were still flicking their hands while screaming and screeching. Their eyes widened as the insects kept crawling on their faces, hair, bare hands and legs, and also over their b*tchy clothes.
"Calm down, girls," Mr. Faye tried to calm them down, "Those are just small insects." The teachers helped them to go to the nurse's office after getting rid of the insects from them.
Becca, along with Kate and Sarah, snickered from their hiding place; around the corner. The sound of someone clearing his throat interrupted their fun.
"Find anything funny, girls?" a familiar voice came from behind their backs.
They turned around to find Alaric standing there with his arms crossed and eyebrows raised.
"Nothing, sir," Kate answered, with a slight smile still plastered on her lips.
Sarah coughed to cover her giggles while Becca bit her lower lip, trying so hard not to burst into laughter.
"You girls better go back to your class," Alaric told them and they immediately turned around, start to walk back to their class. Becca was about to walk away when a hand grabbed a hold of her arm. "Not you, Miss Salvatore," Alaric said. There was seriousness in his voice.
Sarah and Kate shot her encouraging smiles before disappeared into the crowd.
"Becca, is there anything I should concern about?" Alaric asked, raising one of his eyebrows.
"Nope," Becca answered, popping the p.
"I heard that there's a prank pulling just now. Were you involved in this? Because it looked like you and your friends were hiding while watching the incident," Alaric started questioning her, shooting her a suspicious look. "Uncle Ric, you're not a cop. You shouldn't be asking me questions. I'm not a suspect or anything," Becca said nonchalantly, smarting off at him.
"Were you involved in this?" Alaric repeated his question, completely ignoring her statement.
"No, I'm not and neither do my friends. We were about to walk to class when it happened. We were laughing because we thought it was hilarious," Becca lied.
"Now would it be hilarious if it happened to you?" Alaric asked.
"No, but..."
"Exactly. So, you shouldn't be laughing. It was rude," he told her, cutting her off.
Becca put her hands up in surrender. "Okay, I'm sorry," she mumbled.
"You sure you weren't involved in this? Because if you tell me you're not and I find out later that you are, I can guarantee you it won't be pretty at all because you will be in a deep, deep trouble," Alaric warned her. "I'm not involved in this," Becca said with a lot of confidence.
Alaric nodded his head. "Okay, I believe you. Go to your class," he said next and Becca whirled around. She walked to her class with a triumph smile plastered on her lips.
"Good morning Mystic Falls High. As you all know, there had been an incident happened this morning. The prank was a serious thing and it wouldn't go unpunished. Not under my watch. Whomever did the prank, we give you until this noon to fess up and the punishment won't be so severe. If not, we will investigate who did it and she or he or they will be suspended. That's all for today's morning announcement. Thank you," the principal's voice echoed through the intercoms. "Maybe we should fess up," Kate whispered to Becca and Sarah.
"Nuh uh! No way," Sarah whispered back, shaking her head, "It would be like digging our own graves."
"But it's better than to get suspended," Kate whispered again.
"We won't get caught," Becca whispered. They went silent as the class had begun. Becca lost in her own thoughts the whole lesson.
In between the second and third period, Becca walked to Alaric's classroom. She knocked on the door and pushed it open. Nobody was in there except for Alaric alone.
"Mr. Saltzman, I need to talk to you," she said, stepping in and closed the door behind her.
"Is everything okay, Becca?" Alaric looked up from his papers.
"No... Uncle Ric... I..."
