Chapter 14 Let’s Get The Party Started
Lights flashed and loud music blasted from the stereo throughout the Salvatore Boarding house on Saturday night.
"This is definitely the coolest night ever!" Katelyn shouted, trying to beat the loud music.
"We did it guys! I couldn't do it without your help!" Becca shouted back and pulled Sarah and Katelyn into a three-way hug. Becca had dressed up for this party. She wore a tight shirt and really short denim shorts which Damon would never approved her to wear. She put on her purple jacket to cover up her cuts on her arms of course.
Their friends and classmates, even seniors showed up at Becca's party and joined in on the fun. Everyone was dancing to the music and seemed to have a lot of fun.
"Cool party, Becca," a girl told Becca as she walked passed her.
"Your party rocks!!" A guy shouted at her, pointing his finger toward her and Becca smiled in response.
Becca and her friends were dancing to the music and started to enjoy themselves. After was about three songs, Becca was getting tired, so she went to the side and had a drink. She scanned throughout the house and disappointed when she didn't find Ben.
"Looking for someone?" A voice whispered in her ear.
She jumped up and turned around to find Ben standing there with a red cup filled with fruit punch in his hand.
"Hey you made it," Becca said. A smile grew on her lips as she finally found who she was looking for.
"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you," he apologized.
Becca chuckled. "It's okay," she said.
"Really cool party," Ben said.
"Thanks," Becca said and smiled demurely at him.
"May I have the honor to have this dance with you?" He bowed down.
"Of course," Becca said, bowed down as well and chuckled.
Ben took her cup and put it on the table, along with his cup. Then he took her hand, led her to the dance floor. They were practically jumping up and down for almost an hour and had so much fun until Becca was gasping for air. "Come on. Let's go somewhere quieter," Becca said after they grabbed themselves couple cups of punch.
They bypassed the front door to the porch and sat down on the porch swings. They stayed there for a while, staring at each other. Light breeze hit her face and flew her hair back slightly.
"You look so beautiful today," Ben said, looking into her eyes.
"Thank you," Becca said, her cheeks were blushing.
Ben took her hands in his and when he looked down, he saw the cuts on her arms. Becca let him held her hands for a while and when she realized he was looking at her cuts, she pulled back her hands almost immediately. She cursed inwardly because she had left her jacket inside.
"What are those?" Ben asked, trying to look into her eyes, but she looked away. Becca wanted to lie to him, but something held her back. Words couldn't come out from her throat. "You cut yourself, didn't you?" Ben asked again.
Becca looked up at him. "How do you know?" She asked back at him, after a short silence.

"Because my sister did it," Ben answered. Becca could see hurt and sadness in his eyes.
"Something happened to her, am I correct?"
"She committed suicide two years ago," Ben said, looking at the night sky above them. "I'm sorry..."
"I've already let her go," Ben told her.
"Why do you cut yourself, Becca?" he asked, looking back at her.
"I can't tell you," Becca mumbled, looking down at her lap.
"It's okay. I didn't mean to make you sad... How about this... Because I already know your secret, how about I tell you my secret if that would make you feel better?" Ben asked. "You have a secret?" Becca asked him, raising her eyebrows.
"Everybody has little secrets," Ben said.
"Okay, tell me," Becca said.
"Okay, but don't freak out," Ben told her.

"I'm a werewolf," Ben told her. Becca tilted her head toward him and smirked.
"You just confirmed what I predicted," she simply said.
"You knew?" Ben asked in disbelief.
"You're extraordinary fast. I was thinking either you're a vampire or a werewolf. You didn't ask my permission to go inside the house, so I predicted you're a werewolf and I was totally right," Becca explained.
"Smart," Ben commented, clearly impressed, "So, I supposed you know about the little secret of this town, am I right?"
"Duuhhh," Becca said, rolling her eyes.
"Smart and sassy. I like it," Ben smirked.
"How do you know? Are you a witch or something?" Ben asked next.
"I wish!" She let out a scoff, "I'm only human, Ben, but my parents are vampires," Becca told him. Ben nodded his head.
He realized Becca was quivering because of the cold breeze. He took off his letterman jacket and wrapped it around her.
Becca held his jacket closer, looked up at him and smiled. "Thanks," she said.
Ben changed the subject and they stayed there for a while, talking with each other and laughing. After a while, Ben dragged her inside and invited her to dance again. They kept on dancing and laughing, surrounded by their friends in the crowd who were jumping up and down.
Becca twirled around and caught a glimpse of Alaric's face inside the crowd. Then suddenly, the music stopped. Sounds of jeers and shocked came from the other people in the room as Becca looked over to see Alaric standing there, with his arms crossed, looking furious.
