Chapter 13 The Plan
"So, what's your plan?" Sarah asked Becca as they walked to Alaric's classroom for their next period. "You're not gonna like hit him with a truck, are you?" Katelyn asked, staring at Becca with wide eyes.
"Don't be excessive," Sarah said and Becca rolled her eyes. She would do that, but it wouldn't work anyway. Becca knew Alaric was a vampire. "Think something smaller," she said.
"Like what?" Sarah asked.
"Like that," Becca answered, gesturing to the sight down the hallway.
Alaric and the new English teacher, Ms. Tarver, were talking with each other while laughing. It was so obvious they were into each other.
"Oh, this is too easy," Becca chuckled, shaking her head, "We're so gonna pull this off."
"You always have evil plan inside of your head, don't you?" Katelyn asked, impressed.
"What can I say? I'm a natural," Becca said, shrugging her shoulders, making Sarah and Katelyn laughed.
The day went by slowly. Becca kept tapping her pen to her desk, waiting for the day to end so she could start with her plan. She lost in her own thoughts. "Rebecca!" A growled pulling her back to reality.
Becca glanced up and found Alaric towering over her. "What?" She asked with attitude.
"I've called you like five times already and drop the attitude, please," Alaric told her, frowning at her.
"Sorry," Becca mumbled.
"Tell us about the Civil War, Miss Salvatore," Alaric said.
"A war between regions of the same country," she answered.
Alaric nodded his head in approval. "Good. Pay attention, Miss Salvatore. I don't want to give you detention," Alaric told him and turned around to continue with the lesson. The bell finally rang and the students flooded out of the classroom.
"Miss Salvatore. A word please," Alaric called her when Becca walked toward the door, passing his desk. Becca sighed and whirled around to face him. "Becca..."
"Okay, bye Uncle Ric," she cut him off, turned her body around and walked toward the door. Alaric used his vampire speed and closed the door with his hand, standing in front of Becca. "What? You said 'a word'," Becca smarted off.
"Rebecca, that smart mouth of yours will get you into a lot more trouble," Alaric warned.
"Take a seat. I want to talk to you," he told her.
Becca somberly took a seat in one of the front row chairs.
"I'm impressed that you could answer my question correctly in class, but not so much with your attitude and your lack of attention. You keep zoning out the whole time. What's wrong, Becca?"
Becca shrugged her shoulders. "I guess I was just tired. I tend to snapping out to people when I'm tired. I'm sorry, Uncle Ric," she apologized, shooting him the most apologetic look she could muster. Of course, she wasn't really sorry. She only said that because she wanted to get away with it. Especially because she wanted her plan to go smoothly.
"It's okay, Becca. Just make sure next time you pay attention in class, okay?" his voice softened.
"Okay, Uncle Ric," Becca said, nodding her head.
"I have one question though...," Becca said after a short silence.
"What is it?"
"It's about the new English teacher, Ms. Tarver," Becca said, glancing up to see his reaction when she said her name.
Alaric furrowed his eyebrows, didn't know where this conversation might go. "What about her?" he asked.
"You like her, don't you?" Becca smirked.
"Rebecca, it's a highly inappropriate matter to discuss," Alaric answered.
"So you do like her," Becca raised one of her eyebrows.
"Rebecca," Alaric warned in his stern voice.
Becca put her hands in the air in surrender. "Okay, okay," she said, dropping the subject.
"You're free to go, Rebecca," Alaric said, walking toward the door and opened it for Becca.
"See you later, Uncle Ric," she said before walking out of his class.
She walked to her locker to find Sarah and Katelyn were waiting for her.
"Did you get in trouble?" Katelyn asked.
"Relax, I didn't," Becca said whilst put in her locker combination number, "But I did get confirmed that Uncle Ric likes Ms. Tarver."
Both of them dropped their jaws. "How?" Sarah asked.
"I asked him," Becca said, putting her books inside her locker and shut it.
"You're kidding? He's going to know our plan," Sarah told her with wide eyes.
"Relax S! He had no idea. I was just making sure he's into her. I've already planned something to get Uncle Ric un-free for Saturday," Becca said.
"Come on. Let's go to my house so we can start with the plan," she said next, walking toward the school entrance. She looked over and found Damon's car already parked in the school parking lot.
"Dad, you know Sarah and this is Katelyn. We have to work on some school project, so maybe they can come with us to our house?" Becca asked Damon as she opened the door of the car. "Of course. Hop in, kids," Damon said to both Sarah and Katelyn and drove off to his house.
-----
"Wow, I love your room," Sarah said as they got into Becca's room. Becca just smiled at her compliment.

"Now what's your plan to get Mr. Saltz-...."
"Don't say his name," Becca cut her off in a hushed voice.
"Why?"
"My dad's downstairs," Becca mouthed to them.
"Oh yeah right...," Katelyn said, "So, what's your plan to get rid of you-know-who?"
"Dork!" Becca and Sarah said simultaneously at the mention of a Harry Potter reference and laughed.
"Just because I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, doesn't mean I'm a dork," Katelyn said, defended herself.
"Whatever you say," Becca said, smirking.
"So...?"
"Something like a blind date," Becca answered them.
"What do you mean?"
"We're going to text him, pretending we are her and ask him on a date on Saturday," Becca whispered, "Then, we're going to do the same to her."
"Brilliant," Sarah said, smiling.
"Simple, but brilliant. How did you come up with something like that? I don't even think about it for a second," Katelyn said next.
Becca shrugged her shoulders. "Evil plans are always in my nature," she said.
"Come on. Let's text him," she said, getting up to get her spare phone.
"Wait... You use your phone? Doesn't he know your number?" Sarah asked.
"Not this one. I only use this number only for emergency and this is an emergency," she said, starting texting.
'Hi Ric. This is Liliana Tarver. I was wondering if you're free on Saturday? Do you wanna go out with me? I wanted to ask you in person earlier, but guess I have no guts to do so.'
"What do you think?" Becca asked, showing her phone to her friends.
"Brilliant," Katelyn said, giggled. Sarah nodded her head in approval.
"And... sent," Becca said, sending the message to Alaric. A minute later, her phone buzzed.
'Hey Lily. I'd love to go out with you, but I can't this Saturday. I have to babysit my best friend's daughter. I'm really sorry,' Alaric texted back.
"Ugh... Of course he would say that," Becca commented and rolled her eyes.
'Oh, I understand... I was just thinking that maybe we could have a great time on Saturday. I'm really into you and I really want to know you better, but I guess we have to do it another time...' Becca texted and sent it to Alaric. "This is not going to work...," Sarah shook her head.

"Don't be so pessimistic, shall we?" Becca said.
Her phone buzzed several minutes later. 'Wait, Lily... Maybe I can tell my best friend that I have a date with a really beautiful lady on Saturday so I can't watch over his daughter,' Alaric texted back. Becca glanced up at Sarah and shot her an 'I-told-you-so' look.
'You'd do that for me? Aww how sweet and considerate you are,' Becca texted him again.
'Of course I do. Whatever you want, cutie pie. So, I'll see you on Saturday? I'll pick you up at 6 at your house,' Alaric texted again.
"Cutie pie? He's so cheesy," Katelyn giggled.
'Okay Ric ;)' Becca texted him back.
"I told you we're going to make it," she said, looking at her friends and they shared high fives.
"Now we have to handle Ms. Tarver," Katelyn said.
"Ahh... That's easy," Becca said.
'Hey Lily. This is Alaric. You're so beautiful and I can't stop thinking about you. I know it sounds cheesy, but would you go out with me on Saturday?' She texted on her phone and sent it to Ms. Tarver. 'I thought you'd never asked :)' Ms. Tarver texted back.
'How can I not? You're the most beautiful lady I've ever met. I'll pick you up at 6 at your house. See you on Saturday,' Becca quickly texted back.
"You're good at this," Sarah said, shaking her head.
"I am, aren't I?" Becca giggled.
"I honestly can't believe we did it," Katelyn said and they laughed.
Alaric told Damon and Elena about his date on Saturday. Both Damon and Elena were really happy for him, but apparently in such short notice, Damon couldn't find anyone else to watch over Becca on Saturday while he was going to New Orleans, just like Becca predicted. After long and long convincing her parents that she was fine by herself, they finally gave up and let Becca alone at the house. Of course, Damon told Becca about the rules.
Meanwhile, Becca, along with Sarah and Katelyn, had already planned everything out for the party. They texted invitations to all of their friends in school and the news spreaded out really fast like a wildfire.
"Okay, Rebecca. Remember what I told you. No going out to the woods by yourself, stay inside the house, no inviting anyone to the house, and call Alaric for emergency. Understood?" Damon told her right before he and Elena leave to New Orleans.
"Yes, Daddy," Becca answered, nodding her head.
"You sure you're going to be okay by yourself, Sweetie?" Elena asked her.
"Of course, Mom. What could possibly happen? I'm fifteen and it's not like you're going away for a year," Becca said.
Elena chuckled. "We'll be back on Sunday noon," she said.
"I'm gonna be okay, Mom. Don't worry about me," Becca said when she saw a worry look in Elena's eyes.
"Behave yourself, Rebecca. I love you," Damon said, planting a kiss on her forehead. Elena kissed her forehead as well.
She waved at them as they drove off. She went back inside the house after the car was out of sight. She took out her phone and called both Sarah and Katelyn.
"They're gone. Let's get the party started!" she exclaimed.
