Chapter 132
Chapter 132
What else could she say? Sarah had apologized. Could she dwell on it?
She took a deep breath, saying, “Okay, anyway, there’s nothing wrong with what you said. I’m innocent, but if Daniel gets mistaken. then be it. But, don’t bring this up in front of anyone else. I think our colleagues will trash me hard once they
know.”
“Don’t worry. I told him because we’re close. I won’t tell anyone else.”
She almost crossed her fingers, looking serious.
Hearing that. Edith could only nod. “Okay. I’ll go to the bathroom, and you go back to your meal quick.”
“Sure, I’ll be waiting.
Edith turned around as Sarah’s smile faded away.
She watched Edith leave with a tinge of struggle in her eyes.
If it weren’t for… This was supposed to be the last thing she would resort to.
She was about to return to the room when she bumped into Daniel behind her.
She felt a little guilty. Her gaze dodged as she greeted. “Daniel?”
“Why did you tell me all this? Because I like Edith?” Daniel asked calmly.
He asked so bluntly that Sarah turned a little awkward.
The last time they had dinner, Sarah confessed her love while Edith was away.
However, in the end, she suffered a crushing defeat. She was rejected, and at the same time learned that Daniel always fancied Edith.
Sarah had known Daniel for a long time and was the first to know he had a crush. She had asked around who that girl was
but in vain.
Later, she returned home alone, leaving the question unanswered.
Then, unexpectedly, they met again. She thought it must be fate, a chance she must hold onto.
Meanwhile, Daniel came to Caurtine for Edith after learning about her breakup with Johann..
Hence, Sarah decided to be kind enough to tell Daniel that Edith had married, but it didn’t stop him. Instead, he wanted to save Edith, driving Sarah away by saying that she deserved better.
However, Sarah could see nobody but Daniel in her eyes.
She only wanted him!
All in all, fortunately, Edith wasn’t interested in Daniel at all, so why couldn’t she sacrifice a little to make them a perfect couple? If she dared to hinder, Sarali wouldn’t hesitate to strike.
Sarah clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and said, “Daniel, I’m just telling the truth.”
“All right, I’ll also tell you the truth, which is we’re impossible. Even if I give up on her, I won’t be with you. You don’t have to be so stubborn.” Daniel softened his tone to speak his mind.
She paled hearing this. Her face drained of color.
Her fingernails ate into her palms, numbing her skin.
She stared at him blankly and asked, “Why?”
“I either love or not love someone. I don’t do friend zone. I only see you as my little sister, that’s it.”
“So why isn’t she a little sister? Don’t the three of us work, design, and hang out all the time together? Does she come to you behind my back?”
Daniel frowned at her wild guess.
Gentle as she might look, Sarah was fierce inside. She had once stayed up to win a competition, almost blinding herself.
“It has nothing to do with her. It was me who approached her. Listen, I’ll wish her all the best if she can be happy on her own. Also. I hope you could be nice to her since you guys are besties in this large grand city. I don’t wish to ruin your friendship, you know. I don’t want her feeling sorry for me, so for my sake, don’t tell her this, okay?”
Daniel spoke softly, acting all patient.
He didn’t want Sarah to vent her anger on Edith.
Sarah’s heart twitched as if someone tugged at it.
He was telling her to be nice to Edith….
Love is selfish. How was she supposed to be….
Edith did absolutely nothing but could easily take away her everything even when blessed by the happiness of marriage. Why was she so lucky?
She was innocent, so Daniel cared for her, not bearing to reveal his feelings for her peace of mind..
Why should she deserve so much love?
How could Sarah watch and stand by?
Sarah had buried all those bad thoughts deep inside of her, not showing the slightest of them.
She took a deep breath and wiped the corner of her eye. “Don’t worry. I also appreciate our friendship and won’t let this affect us. I’ll look out for her too since she’s my best friend.”
Yes…
She would look out for Edith.
Her words slightly eased Daniel so he suggested. “We should get back before she gets suspicious.”
Sarah nodded. She breathed in and out before entering the room.
They might want to put on a peaceful facade, but Edith noticed something unusual. The room felt tense like before a storm. Sarah and Daniel didn’t talk as if they were strangers.
Did something happen?
“Um, here, Sarah, try this. It’s good! Daniel? You too?”
She tried to liven things up by serving them food like a puppy, but they just smiled and nodded.
She felt a little confused. “I simply went to the bathroom. What happened?”
They finished the meal in an awkward and depressing atmosphere, and Daniel drove them home.
During work, Edith received a text message from Daniel.
“I know this is private and I shouldn’t probe, but I still can’t help it. Carlos is not just anybody. The idea of you guys getting together worries me. I think you should think this through, or… at least I can help you check on him. What do you think?”
She couldn’t help typing.
“Hey, we’re not official yet. He’s nice to me but I know my place. How would he possibly like me? I think I’ll go with the flow right now. I want him to help me to get rid of the Lawson family. Wish me luck.”
In the beginning, she wanted to use Carlos but then slowly, she fell for him and went astray…
However, to reassure Daniel, she still told her original plan.
