Evil Angels

Chapter 42

Emma’s POV

“Hello, my dear Larus?”

Who is this woman? How does she know us?

The woman smiled towards me, “I am sorry for not introducing myself. I am Josephine, a higher angel and Larus’ original maker. I have been watching you for some time Emma.”

I folded in my wings, “Watching me?”

“Yes, all the higher angels have. We were the ones that decided to destroy you… We knew you were a hybrid from the start and we believed you would be a threat to our kind but a certain guardian angel vouched for you a few moments ago. Andya went through all the effort to fight his way into the afterlife just to tell us you were not a danger… So, we made a decision. I trust Larus will train you to hide yourself and control your angel side. We will leave you alone as long as you show that you are in control.”

It can’t be that easy. Not after all of this.

I shook my head, “I don’t believe you. You killed my guardian and caused my family hurt and pain. Now you expect me to believe you after one simple speech!”

She bowed her head and pulled out a rolled up piece of paper, “I figured you would think that. So, the higher angels wrote a treaty of sorts. All angels will once again work in harmony with the evils to guide souls together. Also a shift in the rules, angels will be allowed to be guardians and/or be mated to humans once again. Any angel that harms an evil angel or a human mate will be put on trial for their crimes.”

Alastor stepped forward and took the paper from Josephine, reading it over. He then bowed his head towards her, “The Guard accepts this treaty. The same will go for evils. As of now any evil that harms an angel or human mate will be put to death... Unless of course the angel strikes first.”

Josephine smiled and turned to all the angels behind her. One by one they all stabbed their swords into the ground and bowed their heads towards the evils. She then turned back to Alastor, “Since we were the ones that caused this destruction we will clean up any evidence of us being here and sort out any humans who happened to see.”

He grinned, “That would be much appreciated. We will be seeing you all the next time a soul needs guiding.”

She smiled once again, “Of course. I will be checking in once in a while, Larus. As long as Emma is not a danger the treaty stands.”

With that Josephine stretched out her wings and soared into the air along with all the other angels, leaving all the evils checking over who was still alive. Alex wrapped her arms around me, “Looks like you are off the hook. We finally don’t have to deal with angels coming after us.”

I still don’t feel like it is totally over.

Alastor cleared his throat and looked towards us with Vera now at his side. Vera crossed her arms, “Not so fast. Do you really think The Guard is going to allow such a powerful being to be free?”

Are you serious? I knew this wasn’t over.

Larus drew his sword, “She is not going to join you. And if she ever chooses to, it will be under her own terms.”

Alastor glared at the both of us, “We may have let you off the hook, Larus. But this one is too valuable. As soon as Vera tipped me off, I just had to get her.”

Alex sneered at him, “She is not a thing you can just take when you want.”

I held my hands up, “Okay easy now everyone. If you want me, I am right here. So come and get me.”

“What are you doing Em? They are stronger than all of us combined.”

°Don’t worry. I can handle this.”

Vera was the first to come forward but her moves were easy to read so I grabbed her arm and flung her to the side. She landed on the ground about 30 feet away.

I thought older evils were supposed to be stronger.

Alastor got angry and charged for me. I dodged out of his way. With a quick movement, I swung my wing at his legs, making him fall to the ground. I casually stepped forward and put my foot on his neck, “Now, can we stop fighting? I am not going to be part of The Guard but I can help when I am needed. Other than that, leave my family alone. Okay?”

I lifted my foot off of him while he got up and straightened out his coat. He smirked, bowing his head, “I can respect that. Vera! We must get going. I will be seeing you all again soon.”

Larus put down his sword, “Hopefully not too soon.”

All the evils slowly began to gather their hordes and leave. Jerick didn’t say much and just gave a nod towards us before taking off. Tobias came up to us and bowed his head, “Don’t mind Jerick. He is just mad he can’t kill angels anymore. He will probably find something else to kill soon enough… I will see you guys around.”

Leire came up and handed something wrapped in a blanket to Alex before taking off. Alex unwrapped it to find Leire’s bow and arrows with a note saying: “I won’t be needing these anymore. Good luck with that mate of yours. She seems like a handful. I might tolerate you enough to come down to my horde in Arizona in a few months.”

Izzy ran up to me and crashed me into a hug, “I can’t believe you have wings!”

“I can’t believe it either but I guess I have to live with it now.”

Demarcus smiled as he walked up, “Well that is over. You guys are welcome to stay as long as you guys want.”

Larus shook his head, “Thank you but we have to get back home. Our house is kind of beat up and the Sheriff will probably be wondering what happened. Don’t want to raise suspicion.”

He nodded, “Don’t be strangers then. You are always welcome.”

Elijah smiled, “Same to you.”

I gave one last hug to Izzy then went back to Alex, “It is going to feel weird flying without having to hold onto you.”

We all stretched our wings out and took off into the sky. The wind blew through my feathers and the rays of the sun heated up my skin. I looked over at Alex flying next to me. She was actually smiling as she watched me flying next to her, “So you like flying now?”

I laughed, “Not at all but my wings do. I can probably warm up to it.”

Larus and Elijah were flying above us. Larus swooped down a bit so he was next to me, “Well since you have wings now. How about your first training exercise? We will race you home.”

Alex laughed, “You are on old man! My mate can beat you with her eyes closed.”

Within a second Larus and Elijah took off. Alex grabbed onto my hand, “Just relax and let your wings take over. He is a lot slower than you think he is.”

Alex and I caught up to them in no time. I focused on the feeling of the air on my wings and the chill of the clouds we went through. Everything just felt so relaxing. Like a huge weight was finally lifted off my shoulders. I looked over at the evils flying next to me.

I can definitely get used to flying. Especially with my new family and my bad ass mate by my side.
