Evil Angels

Chapter 41

Emma’s POV

Right as I saw the angel’s sword putting pressure on Izzy’s throat, I pulled against the ones holding onto me, sending them flying to the ground. I felt a sharp pain rip through my back but I ignored it as I pushed through the angels and grabbed Izzy. The sword didn’t draw any blood yet so she was safe for now. All the angels regained their focus about what just happened and looked at me with wide eyes. Even Izzy was staring at me in shock. The angels mumbled amongst each other, “Are you sure she is human?”

“Is she one of us or an evil?”

What the hell are they talking about?

Izzy whispered to me, “Uh… Emma, you have wings.”

What?

I tried to look behind me and sure enough I had a pair of huge wings on my back. They were feathery like an angel’s but they started with black at the top of them then faded to white towards the bottom. They were almost as big as Elijah’s wings too. I am guessing about seven feet across for only one of them.

I have wings?!

Can weird shit stop happening for just a day?!

The angels snapped out of their surprise and pointed their swords towards us.

Right, they are still here.

I pushed Izzy behind me and raised my wings up. One angel stepped forward towards me and I leaned out of the way of his sword, kicking him backwards. The others tried to get closer to me but I flapped my wings, throwing a strong wind towards them. I grabbed Izzy and picked her up, running across the clearing. She wrapped her arms around my neck, “Um, do you know how to fly?”

I shrugged and began flapping my wings as hard as I could, “It can’t be that hard. I have seen everyone else do it.”

I slowly began to lift us off the ground as I heard the angels flapping behind us, “Holy shit I am flying!”

I tried not to look down at the ground as we raised up into the clouds, “I am going to take us to Alex. At least they can protect us and maybe even get rid of these angels behind us.”

Izzy nodded and looked back at the angels. I soared through the air actually speeding up faster than the angels. The cool wind running through my feathers actually made me feel like I was born to do this. My heart rate calmed down and my fear of heights disappeared.

NowI have to find my mate.

Alexandra’s POV

I heard Emma’s thoughts and I knew she had run into angels but I couldn’t leave. It was distracting me from everything I was doing but I would just bring more angels to her if I went to her. Alastor’s army of evils came just a few minutes ago and it was helping but we were still outnumbered. An angel punched me in the face, knocking my mind back into the fight. A lot of evils were fighting on the ground due to their wings getting tired and I would probably have to go down in a bit. I punched the angel back and wrapped my tail around it’s neck. I pulled it closer and stabbed my sword through it’s stomach, letting it drop to the ground. I then felt a sharp pain run through my back. My wings grew weak and I started to fall towards the earth.

Did I just get stabbed from behind? Did my wings get hit? What the hell?

Andy swooped down and wrapped his arms around my torso, “You okay?”

“I am not sure. My wings just gave out.”

He set me down on the ground, “Fight from here. I have been trying to find a way to Emma. Something feels off.”

He flew back into the sky and attacked a group of angels going after Jerick. Larus was next to me and stabbed the angel he was fighting, “Fledgling, what is wrong?”

°… I have wings?!°

“Em, what is going on?”

As I was standing there confused, Larus swung his sword, decapitating the angel running for me. I snapped back into reality and went for an angel that had his back turned. I easily stabbed through his neck. Larus and I cut through three more angels. But something still felt off. I looked up at the sky.

Why does it feel like Emma is here?

Out of the corner of my eye I saw huge black and white wings coming towards me. Before I could see who they belonged to they tumbled into me, knocking me to the ground. I stood up ready to fight but instead I saw my mate standing up in front of me with feathered wings. Izzy brushed the dirt off herself and stood up too. My eyes widened as I examined the wings more, “Emma?”

She sighed, “I will explain later. We have a war to win.”

Izzy looked around, “Demarcus?”

Elijah killed the angel he was fighting and came over to Izzy, “He is still fighting in the skies. I will keep you safe for now.”

We all got back into the fight and even Emma was throwing a few punches. I was surprised at how strong she was. Every angel that came at her she easily countered by using her wings to hit them or throw them backwards. All the horde leaders were fighting with us on the ground. Jerick and Tobias were fighting together, mostly by using their teeth to bite at the angels. Leire was still firing arrows everywhere. Vera and Alastor were punching through whatever got in their way. Demarcus now had Izzy on his back and he was still fighting perfectly. Larus was slicing through any angel he saw as Elijah was attacking anything that even dared to get close to him. The fighting was mostly all on the ground now.

Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a group of angels heading from the sky towards Emma. I took off towards her to shield her. But someone beat me to it. There was a scream and the fall of a certain angel from the sky.

Andy…

Emma launched into the air to catch him while I launched for the angels. With teeth and claws out, I bit and scratched at the group, taking them out in a few seconds. I landed back on the ground next to Emma who was holding a bleeding Andy. His left wing was missing and his throat was dripping blood.

“Emma... I-I just w-wanted t-to protect y-you.”

She put pressure on his throat, “Don’t talk. You protected me. You are going to be fine.”

I noticed a tear run down his face. He took in a breath, “Y-your parents would be so proud.”

His eyes fell closed and he didn’t take another breath. I could tell his soul had left his body. It wasn’t at all like when Elijah was stabbed.

He was truly gone.

I laid a hand on Emma’s shoulder but she shook it off, “Alex… Please get away. I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Em?”

She stood up and her eyes were so bright green that they were almost glowing. She looked utterly pissed off and she took in a deep breath and let it out. Her whole body was shaking and her hands curled into tight fists. Without warning she let out a yell that even hurt my ears, “ENOUGH!”

Everyone stood frozen and their eyes locked onto her. She shook her head, “Is this what you all wanted?! Like really did you guys really just want to kill each other?! Because if you do go ahead but you are messing with my life here. I don’t want to get killed or used as pawn in your stupid war. I am sick of it… You all are supposed to work together. You know the whole guiding souls thing… but you decided to be selfish and now people are not getting the afterlife they deserve.. So, I’m going to be selfish now too. This war started with me and I am ending it right now. So if you want to kill me, do it now assholes.”

A few angels stepped forward only for her to throw them back using her wing. She crossed her arms, “I am waiting. Anyone else?”

Just then an angel came flying in and landed in front of us. She was wearing a long white dress and her white hair was braided on her shoulder. She folded in her beautiful pure white wings, changing into her human form, “Everyone stand down. The higher angels have made a mistake.... Well, it seems you have finally found your true self Emma.”

Larus gasped from behind me, “Maker?”

The woman’s blue eyes looked over at him and she smiled, “Hello, my dear Larus.”
