Evil Angels

Chapter 39

Hello everyone!!! Sorry I haven’t been updating a lot. AP testing and online school is taking up a lot of my time. I think I am going to have five more chapters to this book. Which I am happy and sad that it is almost over. Enjoy this next chapter!

Alexandra’s POV

I leaned against the wall as I watched Emma and Izzy talking to each other across the room. Demarcus was standing next to me watching his mate as well. He glanced over to me for a second, “It’s flying day today. I am letting everyone go out as soon as they can so we can get it over with and get back inside. All the horde leaders will be going out through the day.”

“So when am I going out?”

“Well I was thinking that you can go out with me and Izzy later tonight. She always likes to go out with me so maybe Emma will like it too. It will also keep our mates safe from all the evils while we are flying.”

I laughed at the thought of Emma actually wanting to fly with me, “I don’t think she will like that. She isn’t a fan of heights.”

“I will change that.”

His eyes stared off while his face remained blank. Then, I heard Emma yell out, “That sounds like so much fun! Of course I will come! I will get Alex to come too.”

I looked over at Demarcus, “What did you do?”

“I mind linked my mate to tell yours that we are going to the waterfall tonight. I left out the part about flying us there though.”

I nodded, “Thank you.”

He bowed his head, “Tobias and Jerick will also be with us for extra protection.”

Emma came running over to us, “We are going to the waterfall tonight. Izzy asked us to come and you will get a chance to fly.”

“Sounds wonderful.”

She smiled then a smirk appeared on her face, “I will race you to the kitchen.”

I laughed, “You are on. You probably will get lost on the way there.”

She then took off out the door, leaving me still standing there. I sighed and slowly began my walk out to the hallway.

I should probably let her win this time.

I turned the corner of the hall and bummed into Elijah, “Oh hey, Alexandra.”

“Have you seen Emma come by here?”

He shook his head, causing me to laugh, “She is lost then. Well I have a mate to rescue. Goodbye demon.”

He smiled, “See you later, pipsqueak.”

After the whole stabbing thing, Elijah and I have warmed up to each other more. The nicknames still stuck around. I sure as hell was not going to call him dad or anything, demon just seemed to fit him just right.

I continued down the hall and ended up in the kitchen, seeing Emma sitting there already a piece of chocolate cake, “How did you-”

She took a bite of her cake, “Izzy taught me a few ways around this place. Looks like you lost, slowpoke.”

I huffed and sat down next to her, “I let you win.”

“Suuure you did.”

Night couldn’t have come quick enough as my wings were itching all day. It was about 3 am and we all were standing outside about to leave. Emma wasn’t very happy that I woke her up and that we were going to be flying there. I stretched out my wings and held onto Emma. We all flew off into the sky and landed at the top waterfall in about two minutes. Emma instantly let out a breath once we landed, “I still don’t particularly like flying.”

I heard a snap of a twig and tucked Emma behind me. My eyes focused until Leire, the leader of the Desert Rock, horde appeared out of the shadows. She laughed, “Someone is a bit jumpy.”

I relaxed and folded in my wings. Demarcus glared over at Leire, “How long have you been out here? Everyone was giving instructions to stay inside after their flight time.”

She crossed her arms, “Don’t you worry, Speartail is safe. I am experienced in tracking and my horde is more connected to nature than any of you. If someone even thought about following me I would have doubled back on them before they even knew what was coming.”

He sighed, “Fine I will let it slide but you have to come back with us and no more sneaking out again.”

She bowed her head and went off by the water. Tobias ran off the cliff and splashed into the water down below with Leire following after. Emma and Izzy went to the cliff ledge but stayed back due to the height. Jerick stood next to me, “Isn’t it ironic how she doesn’t like heights but she was born to fly.”

How does he know about her?

He let out a small chuckle, “I am not that stupid. I sensed something different in her when I first met her. Plus, I heard that angel friend of yours talking about it. I suggest you keep her away from Alastor. He may bring more evils in the morning but don’t trust him. Or Vera for that matter.”

“Why not Vera?”

“She used to be part of The Guard a ways back. Rumor has it that her and Alastor were close. Also someone had to tip off Alastor about the angels. It seems those silver eyes she has will always be a shade of grey. The Guard is good at keeping track of us but not that good.”

“Thank you for telling me. I will keep Emma away.”

His orange eyes looked me over, “Please do. Although I could care less about your human, I do care about killing some angels. Without her there wouldn’t be any to kill.”

Well he is a ray of sunshine.

With that, he flew off the cliff and into the waterfall. Leire’s voice came from behind me, making me jump, “Don’t mind Jerick. He is not the social type.”

“You really are good at sneaking up on people. I didn’t even hear you.”

She sat down on a rock next to me, “It took awhile to master but I can sneak up on anyone with their back turned. Back in Arizona, my horde has an alliance with a few Native American tribes. They teach us tracking with some other skills and we make sure to keep people off their land.”

I sat down onto another rock so I could still see Emma, “So you live in the desert and that is why your wings and horns are tinted brown?”

She nodded, “My horde picked it up after a long time of living there. I think the sun faded them after so long in that hot as hell weather but hey, it helps for camouflage.”

Suddenly she stood up and her eyes went blank, “Something is wrong. My scouts have picked up a few angels nearby.”

Demarcus came marching up with Izzy attached to his side, “So now you have scouts out here without my permission too?!”

She silenced him with a hand, “We need to get out of here. Now. The angels are coming and they are tripled in size from last time."
