Evil Angels

Chapter 31

Elijah’s POV

I walked over to Larus and gave him one last hug before I left, “Are you sure about this?”

Larus wrapped his arms around me, “Yes I am. We need all the help we can get. Are you sure you don’t need me to come with you?”

I shook my head, “No, you need to stay here and protect the kids. I will be back in a week. If I am not back by then, get as far away from this place as you can.”

“You will be back. Be safe.”

I released him and looked over at Alexandra that was sitting at the counter, “You better put up a good fight if I don’t come back, pipsqueak.”

She put down the cookie she was eating and laughed, “I fight better than you, demon. You won’t have to worry.”

There is the Alexandra I know.

I then left the kitchen and went outside to find Andya sitting on the stairs. I walked past him and stretched out my wings ready to take off but he stopped me when he said, “Over 5,000 of them will be here in two weeks. My maker reconnected his link to tell me.”

5,000 was definitely a big number but it was going to be too much of a problem once I get all the local horde’s together.

I bowed my head towards him, “Thank you. If I don’t come back in time please protect my family.”

I heard him mumble a “I will” before I took off into the sky. Once I was up high enough I turned towards the north to the closet horde on Elk Ridge. It took me about twenty minutes to get over to the forest where the mountain peak was. I was flying fine until I spotted black wings coming towards me.

I forgot they had scouts to protect their territory.

Just then an arrow flew past my face which I easily turned to avoid. I swooped down and landed on a tree top and watched as the other evil, dressed in animal furs, landed on the tree next to me. He stared me down and lifted his bow with another arrow loaded on it, “State your name and purpose for entering the Elk Ridge’s territory.”

I folded in my wings, “My name is Elijah Van Guard. I would like to speak with Jerick.”

This evil is obviously young. Most evils would instantly let me do what I want just at the mention of my name.

His eyes stared off into nothing as he mind linked his horde, “Jerick saying he knows nothing of you.”

I figured he would say that. Typical, Jerick hasn’t changed a bit.

The scout then let his arrow shoot towards me which I caught in my hand with little difficulty. I sighed and snapped it in half, letting it fall to the ground, “I am sorry to do this to you but your leader seems to like messing with me a lot.”

I launched myself towards the scout and quickly knocked him out with one punch. I then picked him up and flew off towards the mountain peak. I landed on the ground in a clearing and called out, “Jerick I know you are here. I have your scout for you.”

I waited a few seconds then heard rustling within a tree then a drop to the ground. Jerick walked out of the tree line dressed in animal furs, “Hello Elijah it has been awhile.”

“It has. Here is your scout. I did appreciate the welcome but it was pretty easy to take him out,” I laid the scout on the ground and Jerick’s eyes went blank then two other evils came out of the trees, took the scout, and left. Jerick’s purple eyes stared at me, “What bring you here? I know it is not just a visit and last time I checked you were captured by angels.”

“I have left the angels as I found Larus-”

“Ah Larus, how could I forget about the angel turned evil. How is he?”

“That is why I am here. He has a fledgling that recently found a human mate… The angels are out to kill the human and we are expected to have over 5,000 angels landing in Shirley in two weeks.”

Jerick’s eyes widened, “So you want us to fight? Do think we are some type of military you can call on whenever you want?”

I nodded, “You are a smart evil, Jerick. Shirley isn’t far from here. If 5,000 angels land and Shirley, who knows they could land here. After all you horde is responsible for a few angel’s deaths way back when.”

Jerick’s eyes narrowed before he let out a laugh, “Well played, Elijah. I see you are still wiser than most… My horde will fight with you and we also have a few other close hordes in Canada we can convince. Evils sure love getting the chance to kill a few angels now and then.”

I bowed my head, “Thank you Jerick. It means a lot to me and my family.”

“Anything for you Elijah… Anyways, do you want to stay for dinner? It is a rare occurrence but we found a few humans on the trails today who just happened to be ready to die. Their time of death is only 30 minutes from now.”

Dinner… He means wait for the soul to leave the person’s body then drain the blood to drink. Although it is tempting I rather pass.

I shook my head and stretched my wings out, “No, I have a lot of flying to do.”

He shrugged and slipped back into the trees, “Your loss. See you in a week and a half.”

I took off into the air. I turned directions towards New York.

This one is going to be a lot harder. Last time I saw Vera I gave up a member of her horde to the angels and I don’t think she will forget that. But she is stronger as she is a few years older than me and we need her on our side. I am so stupid for this but I have to do it for Alexandra. Even though she might not see me as she sees Larus, I still will always think of her as my fledgling too. I have to protect her and Emma even if that means getting beaten down by Vera’s guards.

It took me about an hour to get to the outskirts of New York City. I didn’t know exactly where her horde was in the city because they always moved along the rooftops at night then camouflaged with the humans during the day so I just have to keep flying. Suddenly, I smelt that an evil was near then the scent multiplied to about three more. I was caught off guard when someone grabbed my tail and pulled me out of the sky and onto the roof of a skyscraper. I shook off the force of the impact and pushed myself up to see the woman evil with dark blue hair I came here for, “Hello, Vera.”

Vera scowled at me while the three evils I smelt earlier landed behind her. She lifted her wings up and stepped closer to me, “Why the fuck are you here, traitor? Speak before I choke you to death with my tail.”

I slowly stood up and kept my wings folded in, “I need your horde’s help.”

Vera’s silver eyes pierced into me as she launched me back to the ground, “I know that you are an older evil like me, Elijah, but all respect I had for you is long gone… You are very stupid for coming here.”

She turned away from me and looked to her guards, “Kill him. He was responsible for a member of our horde’s death awhile back.”

Shit… I am going to have to fight and probably kill more of her horde.

The evils all put their wings up and launched for me. I stood back up and stretched my wings out and threw them out of the way with my wing. Vera looked back at me, seeing her guards were thrown to the other side of the roof and unconscious. She instantly lifted her wings to challenge me, “How dare you come to my horde!”

She launched herself at me, her tail wrapping around my neck. I tried pushing her off but she was stronger than me. Her tail was restricting around my neck more and more as her eyes stared into me. Then I thought of something that would stop her.

The last time she saw me, I was working with the angels and I thought Larus was captured by the angels too.

“V-Vera…. L-Lar-us is… s-safe.”

Vera has always admired Larus and even helped me train him as a fledgling.

Her tail loosened around my neck but was still there, “He is? How do I know you aren’t lying to me?”

I took in a huge breath of air, “Larus is part of the reason I am here. He is safe and has a fledgling of his own in Shirley, Montana but the angels are after him… Vera, I can’t protect him on my own so I came here for your help.”

She let her tail go back to the ground, “How many angel’s are we talking?”

“5,000. Two weeks from now.”

She gently nodded, “Okay… but I am doing it for Larus and his fledgling. Get the hell out of here before I change my mind.”

“Thank you Vera.”

I snapped my wings out and flew into the air towards Virginia.
