Evil Angels

Chapter 30

Alexandra’s POV

We all relocated back to the living room and Emma tucked her body as close to mine as possible. She took a breath in before speaking, “I think it will best to let you all know what happened to my parents first then he can share his side of it… My parents used to be the doctors of the town and we lived in the same house we did now. I was not really a model citizen always getting into some type of trouble. Trespassing, shoplifting, stupid kid stuff. It was a night five years ago, I came home late and I got into a huge argument with my parents so I left… I spent the night in the woods and came home to them lying dead in the yard… The Sheriff came and of course acted like I did it. I was a mess and still young, Then, Andy showed up and offered me a job at his shop.”

I could hear her heartbeat which was surprisingly steady like she was used to living with this.

My mate had to live through pain when she was so young.

Emma grabbed my hand and interlaced our fingers, “Don’t be sad. I am fine.”

She then looked over at Andy, “So would you like to explain why they died while you were their guardian?”

His eyes glossed over and looked towards the ground, “I was there the night your parents died. After you ran off, your parents were worried and called me. I showed up and wanted to help search for you but I didn’t realize I was being followed by angels... Your parents told me to leave but I stayed and fought with the first two angels… When a whole army appeared, I injured my wing and your parents pushed me to go saying they wanted you to have a guardian instead of risking all of our lives. I knew I should have never left them but I thought of you. So I left and camouflaged myself as an old store keeper to protect you.”

Without warning Andy broke down as tears fell from his eyes, “I am so sorry… I didn’t want to leave them but I didn’t want to leave you unprotected… I should have…”

Emma stood up and went over to Andy, wrapping her arms around him, “It’s okay. You just wanted to protect me... You didn’t kill my parents, the angels did.”

Andy let more tears fall as he wrapped his arms and wings around her.

I felt all of Emma’s sadness but somehow she was holding all of it in. Larus and Elijah were staring at each other and their eyes were blank meaning they were talking to each other. I knew they were blocking me out so I pushed through their block to listen in.

*Her parents were killed by the angels, that changes things Larus. They have been after her even before she met Alexandra and now that she is connected with us, she is even more danger.”

“We will figure it out. We will fight the angels if we have to.”

*I know the armies they have. We don’t stand a chance.”

“We do if we call other hordes to us.”

*Are you sure about that, Larus? The other hordes are not like us. They live off of killing.”

“I am sure. We need the help… Fledgling I know you are listening to us.”

Both their eyes locked onto me.

“There are hordes of us that will fight against the angels.”

“Yes they are everywhere and they always love a good fight.”

Emma’s voice pooped into our heads as she released Andy and looked over at all of us.

°I will try my best to fight too. After all it’s my life we are talking about and I am pretty good with a rifle.°

I glared over at her, “You are definitely not fighting. When it comes to it, you will stay with Andy.”

Andy nodded, “Definitely, my watcher will not be put in harm’s way. She will just be a bigger target for the angels.”

Emma sighed, “Well I guess I am useless to all of this then.”

I grabbed her arm and pulled her over to me, “You are not useless… I will be better if you aren’t near the fighting then I can focus on protecting you.”

Larus smiled, “Alright enough talk of fighting. I am going to make some cookies.”

Emma quickly pecked my cheek, “I will race you to the kitchen.”

I laughed, “That is an easy win.”

Larus and Elijah stepped out of the doorway while we raced past them. I was way ahead of Emma by the time I reached the kitchen doorway and I sat myself on one of the stools. Emma came in a few seconds later, out of breath, “That was so unfair.”

“Yes it was,” Larus came into the kitchen, “Now can you two toddlers get up and help me with these cookies?”
