Chapter 91 

Without a doubt, he figured that it must be Christopher who helped him. 

It was good to have a bond with a business elite like Christopher. This made him feel increasingly certain not to divorce Yennefer 

At the same time, Josephine, who was working, received a call from Ragnar stating that Christopher was giving Jonathan a helping hand. 

All of a sudden, her mind went blank. Josephine was stunned on the spot. 

In her mind, her thoughts went haywire. When her thought process reached this point, it suddenly occurred to Josephine’s mind that the Hayes family was the one who helped Jonathan the last time. She realized that he had likely gone to find Christopher again. 

“This shameless piece of shit!” Josephine cursed him inwardly. While she thought of this, she fetched out her phone and called Christopher. 

On the other hand, Christopher was still working on some documents. When he noticed the ringing phone, he picked it up and found it was Josephine. His expression brightened gradually. 

It had been almost two months since they last met. 

Ever since he was taken away by Ragnar after he confessed to Josephine, he had been on a business trip for nearly two months. Then, he was already stopped by Jonathan just when he arrived at his mansion. 

“If I was right, Josephine is calling to thank me,” he wondered. With that in mind, Christopher answered the phone in a gentle voice, “Josephine.” 

“Mr. Hayes, Yvette has a class today in the afternoon. Will you be at home by then?” Josephine’s voice rang through the phone. 

Although Josephine was angry that Christopher helped Jonathan, she still treated him the same way as usual. 

Christopher responded directly, “Yes,” 

“All right. I’ll see you in the afternoon,” Josephine said and ended the conversation. 

In the afternoon, Josephine left after finishing her work. She took the bus to Christopher’s mansion. 

As soon as she stepped into the mansion, she was swiftly greeted by Yvette’s cheerful smile. “Ms. Yeager, my daddy is back.” 

“I know” Josephine returned a soft smile to her and patted her head. 

Josephine liked Yvette a lot. 

Yvette’s cute little face was full of happiness. She gazed up at Josephine and asked out of curiosity, “Ms. Yeager, do you know that Daddy returned because you contacted him?” 

“If it were the case, it would be a piece of great news. Perhaps, Daddy and Ms. Yeager had become closer these days.” Yvette cheered excitedly inwardly. 

Josephine curved her lips into a smile and nodded in reply. “Yes, I do.” 

Hearing the confirmation from her, Yvette’s mood lifted even more. “That’s great!” 

Holding Josephine’s hand, Yvette felt delighted, as if she had been given candy. She walked while saying,” Ms. Yeager, my daddy is a very good person, right?” 

“Yeah,” Josephine agreed with her. 

She had always known that Christopher was indeed a very good man. 

“Daddy is also very gentle,” Yvette continued to praise her daddy. 

Just then, both of them reached the living room. Josephine did not continue to respond to Yvette’s words. 

Instead, he walked up to Christopher and greeted him politely, “Mr. Hayes.” 

Seeing Josephine before him, a soft expression quickly appeared on Christopher’s face. 

Without meeting her for two months, he found that she had become even more beautiful and attractive. 

He gave a friendly nod to Josephine and replied. “Josephine, it’s been a long time.” 

“Yeah, I was quite busy” Josephine answered with a polite smile. 

It felt uncomfortable for her to meet Christopher this time due to what happened last time. 

From then on, she had not been replying to Christopher, albeit he had sent a few messages to her. 

A short moment of silence later, Christopher parted his lips and spoke. “About what I said last time… 

“Mr. Hayes, if there is nothing important, I’ll come to you after I finish my class with Yvette, okay?” Josephine stopped him from continuing his sentence; she knew what he was going to say 

Christopher sensed that Josephine seemed to have become slightly distant. After contemplating for a short while, he suspected she was frightened by 

the confession last time. 

Chapter 91 

As he thought of this, Christopher did not speak of anything else and nodded. “Sure.” 

“Yvette and I will make our way to the piano room,” Josephine informed him. Following that, she took Yvette’s hand and headed upstairs. 

Christopher stared at Josephine’s figure with tender eyes as she left the room. 

As usual, the melodious sound of the piano resonated from the piano room. 

Yvette was very good at learning the piano. She was quick to grasp the essence of piano playing. 

One hour later, the piano lesson came to an end. Josephine requested Yvette stay in the piano room to continue her practice for a while. 

Meanwhile, Christopher was seated on the couch gracefully. He appeared to still be working on his tasks. 

Christopher heard the sound of her footsteps when Josephine came downstairs. Immediately, he turned off his computer, stood up, and smiled gently. “You have taught Yvette well.” 

“Thank you!” Josephine thanked Christopher sincerely for his kind compliments. 

Without further ado, she went straight to the point, “Mr. Hayes, the reason I came to you today is because of 

When Christopher heard that, he thought he knew the true reason that brought Josephine to look for him. Thus, before she could finish her words, he cut her off, “It is not a big deal, Josephine. I know Mr. Zimmerman is your uncle–in–law, and it was just a minor problem, so I just gave a helping hand.” 

Josephine became dumbfounded. 

Following that, Christopher went on, “I admit that it was abrupt for me to ask you to be Yvette’s mommy previously, I guess Thad accidentally scared you. But I am serious about this matter. Besides, after getting along with you, I know that you are a very kind woman. If you are the one taking care of Yvette, I would be relieved.” 

“Mr. Hayes.” Josephine stopped him from continuing the subject. She did not want to talk about it. 

Not to mention, she did not have the intention to do so and would never give him any chance ever. 

“Mr. Hayes, I came here to ask you to leave Jonathan’s company alone and not interfere in his affairs,” she requested in a firm tone. 

Recognizing what she had asked for, Christopher frowned. 

With a confused look on his face, he asked Josephine, “Isn’t he your uncle–in–law? Why shouldn’t I help him?” 

“Mr. Hayes, he would no longer be my uncle–in–law,” Josephine responded. 

“Why? What happened?” Christopher requested an explanation. 

Initially, Josephine did not want to tell Christopher about her personal affairs. However, for him to stop helping Jonathan, she was forced to reveal the truth to him. “Jonathan cheated with someone else and betrayed my aunt. My aunt is trying her best to divorce him.” 

Josephine sighed and explained further, “It has been about two or three months, yet he still refused to divorce no matter what. That’s why I had asked. Ragnar to help attack his company. I didn’t expect him to ask you for help. Mr. Hayes, this is why I called you today.” 

Not wanting her to misunderstand, Christopher immediately clarified, “Josephine, I didn’t know before this. That’s why when he came to me earlier, I thought about helping him because it was a small matter, and he is your uncle–in–law.” 

The small matter in his point of view was an important thing to Josephine. 

She just wanted to end this incident as soon as possible, so that Yennefer could get over this pain earlier. 

After Christopher showed his regret for his actions, Josephine uttered, “Mr. Hayes, since you already know, please stop helping him.” 

“Don’t worry. I didn’t know the reason before this. Now that I’ve learned about it, naturally, I won’t continue to help him out.” Christopher then looked at Josephine apologetically and said in regret, “I’m so sorry about this.” 

“It’s all night.” Josephine accepted his apology. Now that the misunderstanding was cleared off, she did not have any reason to remain in the mansion, so she informed Christopher before walking away, “Mr. Hayes, I’ll take my leave now, as I have other things to attend to.” 

As Christopher saw her leaving figure, a sense of disappointment rose in his heart. 

He called out in a panic, “Josephine, about what happened last time…” 

“Mr. Hayes, I’m sorry. There is no chance for us.” Josephine kept her words short and brief. She believed that a wise man like Christopher would get her 

point. 

Hearing that, Christopher finally understood that Josephine had rejected him. 

Although his feelings were not accepted, he was not the kind of person who would pester someone. His expression was as gentle as usual, and he sighed. “It seems that Yvette has no luck!”
