Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Josephine’s arm was immediately lacerated, and blood oozed from it.
Frightened, Jonathan exclaimed, “Josiel What are you doing?”
Josephine held the blood stained glass shard against her neck. “Jonathan, you don’t want me to die, do you?”
She was not kidding.
At that moment, Josephine looked at Jonathan firmly. “Open the door! Or I’ll take my own life!”
Samantha had returned to her room to rest. Nobody was on standby outside the room. Left with no choice, Jonathan opened the locked door from the
inside.
Josephine then ran away with her phone.
She dashed downstairs and immediately dialed Liliana’s number. “Liliana, come pick me up! I ingested something I shouldn’t have eaten. I feel terrible right now. I’m standing next to a convenience store in our neighborhood.”
Josephine had no idea that in her panic, she had called her ex–boyfriend Charles instead of Liliana.
Charles was now Josephine’s ex–boyfriend as she had broken up with him after discovering his relationship with Valeria.
Ten minutes later, Charles rushed over.
He saw Josephine squatting in the corner. She was wearing thin pajamas, and her arm was still bleeding.
Her face was flushed and her hair was unkempt, making him want to wrap his arms around her out of pity.
“Josie,” Charles called out.
Josephine lifted her head.
She was taken aback for a moment when she saw Charles in front of her. After a short silence, she asked, “Why are you here?”
“You called me,” Charles responded.
Josephine frowned, “But I clearly called Liliana.”
Charles helped Josephine up. “it doesn’t matter. You don’t look well, Josie. Come on. I’ll take you to a nearby hotel first.”
Josephine shook Charles off. “No!”
She asked Charles to let her go before saying, “We’ve broken up! Besides, aren’t you already dating Valeria?”
Charles averted his gaze. “Valeria and I are just fooling around, Josie. I did promise to be her boyfriend and marry her, but that’s also for the sake of our future! Josie, the only person I love is you, and it will always be you! I apologize for putting you through this. However, once I marry Valeria, obtain everything I desire, and gain enough power, I’ll divorce her and marry you!”
Charles intended to take Josephine to the hotel and serve as her antidote.
He had dated Josephine for two years. Aside from holding her hand and kissing her cheek now and then, he’d never done any other things to her. He really liked Josephine.
He would have slept with her in a heartbeat if Josephine hadn’t said she wanted to save all the good things until after she got married.
However, Josephine was now aware of his relationship with Valeria and even wanted to break up with him. He thought, “If I sleep with her, then I can probably keep her by my side, right?”

Tue,
“Let go of me,” Josephine said coldly, wanting Charles to let her go.
However, Charles wouldn’t release her.

He dragged Josephine toward his car and gently coaxed her, “I really love you, Josie! You need an antidote right now. I told you that Valeria and I are just putting on an act! How could I possibly fall in love with that woman? I…”
Meanwhile, a black luxury car was parked near the corner of the street.
A man in a custom–made black suit looked indifferently at Josephine, who was being held by Charles, and watched the two push and pull each other.
The driver inquired, “Mr. Levine, do you want me to go over…”
“Wait a little longer,” Ragnar said.
Ragnar had chosen Josephine from the many applicants who went to the Levine mansion to apply for the position. With her profession and other qualifications, she was the most suitable candidate to be his wife.
He needed to marry in order to care for Danny and Manny.
Ragnar had already investigated everything about Josephine.
He knew that Josephine and Yennefer were dependent on each other and that Josephine lived under someone else’s roof. He was also aware of everything between Josephine and her ex–boyfriend.
After the accident at the hotel that day, Ragnar had someone follow Josephine in secret.
This evening, Ragnar’s subordinate saw Josephine running out of the place and immediately informed him, so he rushed over.
That was why Ragnar was sitting in a luxury car, staring coldly at the conflict between Josephine and Charles.
Ragnar was determined to win this woman over.
Hence, he watched indifferently, waiting for the best opportunity to show up.
Meanwhile, Josephine broke free from Charles.
When she noticed the luxury car at the corner of the street, she ran over and patted the window urgently. “Is anyone there? Could you please send me to
the hospital? …”
The rear window of the car slowly lowered.
Seeing Ragnar’s cold face, Josephine froze for a moment before saying, “Mr. Levine, please help me-
Ragnar cut her off before she could finish her sentence. “Get in the car,” he said icily.
The car door was opened the next second, and Josephine immediately got in the car.
She looked at the aloof man and said, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Ragnar replied. “I can help you, but there are some conditions.”
Josephine was stunned.
She looked at the elegantly–dressed man who exuded a sense of righteousness. “Is he also a jerk who takes advantage of others?” Josephine wondered.
Ragnar handed Josephine a stack of photos. “Have a look. These are photos of that so–called boyfriend of yours and another woman. He keeps saying he loves you, but what does he do behind your back? He appears to be very committed as well when he’s in bed with another woman!”
Josephine lowered her gaze.

The photos in her hands were shocking and unsightly.
She had previously seen Charles and Valeria together and knew they had gone to a motel together, but actually seeing those photos made her feel
terrible.
Josephine had dated Charles for two years, yet this was how things turned out in the end.
Ragnar cast an indifferent glance at Charles, who had been stopped by his subordinates. “Do you want to get out of the car and go to the hotel with him so he can serve as your antidote? Or do you want to consider becoming my wife?”
He allowed Josephine to choose.
Josephine looked at Ragnar with tearful, red–rimmed eyes. “Mr. Levine, you are also taking advantage of me right now!”
Ragnar said, “I’m a businessman, so it’s natural that I only do lucrative things. I could help you, or I could also not help you.”
He analyzed the situation indifferently for Josephine. “You live with your aunt, and your aunt’s mother–in–law is hard to get along with. Now that she has set her eyes on you, whatever happened for the first time tonight will happen for the second time. Also…”
Ragnar glanced at Charles again, who was still struggling against his subordinates. “Your ex–boyfriend is obsessed with you. He really wants to take you to a hotel. If you get out of the car now, you and him…”
After a short pause, Ragnar asked, “Are you sure you want a man who betrayed you and got involved with your archenemy to serve as your antidote? Don’t you feel disgusted?”
Josephine was bereft of words.
She looked at Ragnar with tears in her eyes.
