Azul POV

Her sitting on the floor conversing with her wolf made me smile. I always enjoyed watching her mediate. You could see her veins glow, generating gold light. It is like watching a work of art. She is like a muse that eluded the old masters and the great composers. A purity of the daylight’s last hurrah and true beauty in its truest form.

While I am far from pure and far from light.

I decided it was time to leave and let her continue meditating.

Did what all shadows do well. Mute my colours’ and disappear back into nothingness. In doing so, I teleported to where my grandfather is summoning me.

Upon arrival I look around, I am in the Kia-Zul library. The fire elementa main library.

When arriving in this library the first thing you approach is the large statue of Cináed- Kia Zul who is the guardian of fire elementa. The status is engulfed with flames and is the only tangible object that lights up the entire library.

As expected, whomever enters this library should have the ability to conjure up fire. It's the only source of light, that would allow you to walk deeper into the library.

Each aisle appears to be an infinity. I don’t need fire as a source of light. My pupils atomically dilate fully, completely blackening my eyes which heightens my eyesight.

The Kia-Zul library has endless shelves of books that are of ancient writings of secrets, powers and stories. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was one about me, but these people aren’t old enough to know the existence of how I become one of them.

Before the sins arrive and took control over this universe, these books were available to all, and few were exclusively for the Elders. Now the days have darkened, and only those who possess the will of fire can read these books.

Those who don’t will instantly turn into ashes and the only person who can revive them is the guardian Cináed. Or so they believe it to be.

The mystical atmosphere feels different than the last time I came here. This was about four thousand years old. I dislike coming here, simply because some Elders wouldn’t be too fond of seeing a Von entering a Zul’s library.

Unaware that I have wandered off, the opposite side of which my grandfather has summoned me to be. I stop, reaching an area that is sealed by an invisible veil.

I find this peculiar, unusual for a veil holding this much power to be in such place. I don’t believe I have ever seen this veil before, which intrigues me even more. I extend my hand out, that is now on fire and reach inside the veil. Attempting to touch the concentric rings that are shaped like flames and squares that are inscribed in the seal.

“I don’t think it's a good idea for you to open Cináed’s seal so openly, son.”

I slowly take my hand out of the veil and turn to face my grandfather Elder Aodh.

“I didn’t think, I just felt some sort of pull that led me here,” I reply turning my back from the veil and walking to him.

“Be careful Azul, your disappearance with Sora did not sit right with the Elders. You are on thin ice my boy. Some have even started a petition to have you exiled and I am afraid that I may not have enough influence on my side to stop them, my child.”

“Hmph.” This is no secret. I know the Elders have been looking for any excuse to appoint my exile. After all, I am the son of the famous traitor Von.

Whether my father had anything to do with the war or not, it didn’t matter. He wasn’t here but his blood runs through my veins. If it wasn’t for my grandfather raising me, I don’t believe that I would have been accepted in the veil that separated us from being found by our sins.

They only selected a few Von individuals. Mainly the ones that weren’t exceptionally powerful in their elementa. While the rest were left to die out. The Vons are on strict population regulation.

The Elders of all elementa made sure that our house lineage would not continue or even survive another millennium. I am the only powerful Von living here and that is a threat alone to them.

I clenched my fists, “It was not within their discretion to decide.”

“Yes, well few know of Sora. The true Sora that is. I think it's fair for you to see their reasoning. Don’t you think so?” He gave an amiable smile that turns his face into a youthful appearance.

Since when were they ever fair? I tighten my lips and decide silence is the best response.

“Now come, but first I would appreciate it if you changed back the color of your eyes. For where we’ll be going there’s going to be eyes lurking around and I don’t think it’ll be in our best interest to have a Von with cosmos eyes. Now, would you?”

In dismay I sigh very loudly and rubbed my temples.

It takes great strength to not have these people feel the fullness of my darkness.

This wasn't the time to entertain our dark desires.

“Where too? I can just teleport us there.”

“No, like I said we must be mindful of the lurking eyes.”

We walked in silence, there were moments when my grandfather would stop and talk to some Elders or fire elementas. I stood behind him quietly ignoring them as they did the same with me.

After some time, we finally reached a large dome that was in the middle, making it impossible to miss as it stood mighty tall and wide. I looked at the dome, nothing was inside but active fire. This type of fire looks as if it will take what is alive and scarce, burning like an uncontrollable temper.

Moving swiftly, this fire is not just anyone’s fire. I can sense the powerful energy, its frustration and anger. Swiftly going in circles around the dome, trying to find its exit or more like looking for its owner.

Its owner!

I quickly turn to my grandfather with wide eyes, “ This is..-”

He lifts his index finger and places it on his lips, “Ssshhhhh.” He whispers.

He steps closer to me and whispers, “So you, see?”

“WHA-..” I lower my voice, “What do you mean? This is a transparent dome; shouldn’t everyone be able to see it?”

“No. I was visited by a peculiar wolf in my dreams last night and I can only assume it was Cináed himself. He told me about the dome, but he also said that I wouldn’t be able to see what’s inside the dome. It made me wonder if you could see or Sora?”

“Ok. So, what’s really inside the dome?”

“His essences.”

I take a step back in disbelief at what I just heard.

“Azul, out of all the guardians that Sora met, who did she speak to the longest? ” he asks in a soft tone.

“If Cináed’s essences were here all along then he could’ve visited me in my dreams, and I could’ve freed him.”

“Or maybe it is not just a straight shooter thing, maybe there is something else…..”

I raise my index suggesting he stop, “Take out your fire grandfather, we may have a visitor.”

The area was once again dark, which was a perfect opportunity for me to teleport us back to my home. When we arrived at my place my grandfather was surprised. Only because I never had him over.

He pretended not to notice this and continued, “It’s not that easy. The sins seem to leave one of the guardian's full essences somewhere only another guardian can open. After all, they know that Illmarien is still alive and roaming around. It may just be that they set a trap for him too. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are other tricks similar to this one.” He said.

I kept on pacing back and forth, thinking of the possibility.

“He was here the entire time, and I didn’t even notice. How?”

“We were doing something much more important than that and you know it.”

“Still Cosmos a full guardian essence right under our nose. Something so simple, so easy… so easy…”

“They must know Cosmos; they must know I am half-breed. You saw that fire, Illmarien is air, Sora is air and time, but they had already captured her. I am fire, lightning, and..”

“You are thinking about it too much. Steady yourself, they can’t know. Not even Illmarien, Sora or your grandfather knows about the last one. We said this will be kept within us.”

Yes, but we forget that one of those guardians is just as old as we are. One must’ve known.”

“Ha! Don’t be a fool, that’s impossible. They must read all those books to find out.”

“Then who do they expect to open that dome?”

“Why you? I ask my grandfather.

“That’s what I don’t understand. Yes, I am an Elder, but I am no guardian. He must’ve known that I’d still come to you and pass along the message.”

“Still Grandfather, why not me first?”

I clenched my jaw, and my immediately turned black.

“What is it, son? Did you figure out something-”

“No. It’s Sora she’s in danger. I gotta go, grandfather, you know how to get yourself back home?”

“Is she alright, and don’t worry about me.”

“She will be, with me there.”

In an instant, I teleported myself into the walls of Sora’s chamber just waiting for the right moment to reveal myself.

Sora POV

It was obvious what I was sensing my wolf couldn’t forget how it felt being around them. To think, to just think there was one right inside the entire Northern Air elementa.

Calming my wolf as she was ready to pounce on them, I turned my body to the left side facing him. Furious is an understatement of how my wolf and I feel. Without any more thought I jump out of the bed and with a flick of my wrist I use my powers to move the entire bed frame at the wall where I knew Azul was waiting.

The loud thump had woken him up in alert. Any other person’s wolf would have surfaced immediately in this matter but of course, his couldn’t. He checks his surroundings till his eyes land on me.

He is going to fake it.

“Sora! What’s going on?” He asked innocently.

My wolf couldn’t hold any longer and took control. “YOU!”

Ahanu hovers up in the air and lands next to me. I took a step back. It seems like I have always despised him for being picked as my mate, but I didn’t realize the hatred about him ran much deeper.

It wasn't just the simple fact of his existence reminding me just how little free will I have here.

No that wasn't the only thing.

He knew where she was, and he was the reason why she was easily captured.

“My Sora, calm down,” Ahanu cautiously stepped closer with his palm half up.

Despite his outward charm, Ahanu’s fiendish nature is slowly revealing. He is becoming impatient, and I can feel it.

His eyes are glittering with hostility. They are wild and fearsome, wanting only one thing and that is to kill.

“Sora, we are mates. This-”

“WE?” raged gripped me, fuming, and ready to shift.

I feel an uncanny feeling reaching my body. It must’ve been his powers trying to reach me and calm down but that didn’t work. Matter of fact it’s pissing me off for the fact that he dared to use much more on me.

Hmmph, the audacity. He thinks I’m still weak and you don’t know anything yet.

This type of magic did not belong to an elementa. This type of magic belonged to-

SINS”

A sudden threatening explosion like a sonic boom noise came from outside. The pitch-black atmosphere was impenetrable, and I stood rooted to the spot. I am so focused on Ahanu watching his every moment. I hadn’t realized that Azul’s shadow came floating behind Ahanu with his blackening eyes. Ahanu can’t sense him or see him.

Ahanu’s demeanour completely changes, as expected.

Oh, so he knew. That I am no longer the Selah. That I gained my spirit wolf, Sora. My true self.

Ahanu tenses and exaggerates his eyebrows slightly together as he glares at me with wickedness.

“To my disappointment, you’ve come back but not for long,” Ahanu said.

He attempted to use his powers once more, but it didn’t work on me this time. No one has ever survived a Sins attack and lived to destroy them.

I have yet to know who truly possesses them. What I do know now is that Sins can't sense Azul.

The irony. Both carry darkness as power, but one can't seem to know another is nearby.

Interesting.

I form a mischievous grin at the realization of this theory and the significance it carried in my search.

Azul’s shadow enters Ahanu’s body and absorbs the Sin’s energy without destroying his own.

Anytime a Sins have entered an elementa's body, their spiritual wolf is immediately cut off. Sins are against nature’s will which immediately kills the spiritual wolf.

As Azul enters in, the veins pop and multiple static electricity impulses coursing through Ahanu’s flesh. I notice that the Sins is trying to work his way out from the abdomen area, where the main source of energy lies for all elemeta. I step in closer and place my hands on that area. My hands begin to glow white.

Push your hand inside the abdomen” my wolf instructs me.

I did what she asked and pushed even further till I was inside Ahanu’s energy source. Searching for his true chakras. I close my eyes, watching my breath as I draw all my sources of power to my hand. Clearing all sense that surrounds me and placing them on Ahanu’s body.

I wanted to get his story; the flesh always leaves bits of its story before it’s gone.

I could sense Ahanu’s consciousness grasping by with little to no strength. It is frail but nearly consumed by darkness. I can see it wants to fight. I couldn’t give him too much of my light or else he will die the moment Azul works to take the Sins out of his body. Yet with just a little light in him, I know he can fight off the Sins’ darkness.

Sins keep their captivator alive; they need the body to be in this world. The moment the owner of the body dies it must move to its next vessel. So, they tend to enter bodies of elementa that are more powerful. Our powers can be a curse the moment a Sins has access to it because they feed off it. It's the main supply.

I held on to Ahanu’s consciousness, praying to the Gods that his spirit wolf was there, while Azul consumed the Sins in his own body.

What would you like us to do with the sins then?” Cosmos asks through mindlink me.

It won’t be long till the other sins have noticed my disappearance. I wouldn’t be surprised if this one sends out a notice to them somehow. So, our best option is to conjure a spell and alter his appearance.” I replied.

“To whom?” he asked.

Azul’s shadow starts shaking inside Ahanu’s body.

“Are you crazy! Stay still, my hand is still inside! The moment I let go, we lose him.”

“YOU ARE NOT GOING BACK THERE!” Cosmos yells.

“I’m not stupid. Though I will need your help. We need to manipulate the Sins space-time curvature. I need to know that Ahanu's soul will still be intact, but we’ll need to have the sins travel in the dimensions that they had placed me. The sins will look like me, they are not able to identify if it’s the true me because you’ve created it. I'm convinced that anything you form they will not be able to know the difference.”

I know I am getting closer to finding all of Ahanu’s aura and mystic powers from his spiritual wolf. It was beginning to get colder, the deeper I went in. Half of my arm is now inside of him. If I wasn’t strong enough, I believe I would’ve been slightly consumed by the evil that resides inside of him. Damaging his connection to nature. I channelled his essence to come forward, sending warmth and comfort so he could be able to trust me.

Surprisingly enough he came forward and attached to my hands and with that, I cast my spell.

“NOW!” I yelled out to Azul so he could separate himself from Ahanu’s body.

Slowly the white light that was glowing inside travelled out of my abdomen and my arms began to shake from the force. Ahanu is one of the most powerful Northern Air elementa. So, holding onto his powers and pulling forward his essence is not easy. His wolf was in control, trusting no one. He is demanding and at this moment I can understand why but I needed him to be still.

The moment Azul’s shadow completely steps out of the body, Ahanu gains control over his body.

Ahanu fell to the floor, his body mass shrinking in size. He looks dangerously bony, gaunt and malnourished. The side effect of being consumed by the Sins for so long. The stronger you are the longer it takes to die off and the more the sins gain.

Giving Ahanu some space momentarily I looked at Azul and saw that he had already changed the Sin's appearance to look like me. I could tell by his facial expression that he didn’t like this idea, but he knew better than to argue at this time. This is the only option that I can think of, that will buy us some time before they try to come back for me.

Ready?” I ask.

With his blackened eyes, he stares at where Ahanu lies and clenches his fist tighter. He seems to have something to say but instead, he nods his head.

I raise my hands and create an invisible horizontal line where a black portal begins to open like an eye-opening.

Before being captured I had made sure to remember which dimension they had placed me in. Which was a big mistake for them to make, but that’s the problem of underestimating us guardians. One does not hold the same power as the rest of us. They had no idea which guardian they were capturing.

Azul lifts the body’s shadow and throws it inside the portal. We watch the shadow float to its destination dimension. The moment the portal closed; we knew the shadow had arrived at its direct dimension.

“I’ll take the Sins to the divinity cube. It won’t be able to leave there,” he suggests.

I nod in agreement.

After waiting till Azul had left, my legs wobbled as I felt the floor sway beneath me, and everything went black.
