Chapter 100
Damien pushed his head up from the water. He needed to catch his breath. Even though he didn't have much energy left in him, he couldn't help but continue with this new self-assigned task which he allotted
to himself.
"Woah... what a feeling."
He exhaled, looking around him. He was still on luck or say, luck was still on his side. He could still see the land.
He felt sort of greedy. He wanted to own the ocean and feel very comfortable in it. It seemed as though a part of him was returned when he dived into the water. After all, he used to swim a lot back in his Grandpa's hometown before they moved to Las Vegas.
"The farther into the water I go, the better my chances of catching a big fish."
He convinced himself and went down into the water again. He knew if he wanted to catch a big fish, he would have to be under the water for a while.
But then again, he knew he couldn't keep being under the water else he would lose his consciousness.
Something popped in his mind at once. He pushed his head back up from the peaceful water. He had left the violent part behind.
It was reasonable to say that he was close to the middle of the ocean. More like the deep parts. As deep as it could get.
"Let's see what the system has to offer."
He flipped the system window out and scrolled through. He had to scroll for a while before he could see what he could work with.
"Yes. This must be it. This should do."
He opined and clicked on the skill which he had already paid for. It was more like calling the skill out.
[Ping! Monster Diver activated.]
"Uhmm, monster Diver."
He muttered. He knew he should test it at that moment, but he didn't want to. He felt an unnecessary need to wait for a little while. Sort of create a room for suspense.
It seemed as though he could hear some sort of movement. There was a wild rhythm which was coming, a strange movements in the water, which wasn't obvious yet.
"Now."
He dived into the water, going down and down. This time around, things were really different for him. Unlike before, when he couldn't breathe fine under the water. It was a different and more comfortable experience this time.
It felt like he was on the land, walking. He didn't have to hold his breath. Oxygen was working perfectly fine in the water. Even, the level of the oxygen was way more purifying than he used to feel. "What a good feeling..."
He wanted to say but he couldn't. He probably had felt so comfortable that he thought that he was on the land and could do whatever he wanted.
Even though he could see clearly, hear clearly, no water fighting its way into his ears, and breathe freely. He couldn't speak. When he tried to, he made bubbles with the wave of air which coursed through his mouth.
He knew too well not to dwell on that.
TIME TO GET TO WORK.
He purposed and drew out the sickle.
"Let's do this."
He pushed his body violently in the water, but his body twirled and twirled, making a long and smooth movement in the water.
"Woo-hooo"
He wanted to call in excitement but he wished. His eyes caught a group of about ten fishes swimming off his direction.
NOPE. I DON'T WANT THESE. I WANT SOMETHING BIG. BIG ENOUGH NOT TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT TO EAT FOR FEW DAYS.
I DON'T WANT TO GO TO THE JUNGLE. NOT YET. I WON'T LEAVE THIS PLACE UNTIL I HAVE RID THIS ISLAND OF THE PREDATORS.
IF I WOULD BE GOING TO THE JUNGLE, IT WOULD BE TO ---
A suddenly realization hit him.
WHEN I SAW AYISHA. HOW DID IT HAPPEN? MY VISION SUDDENLY BECAME CLEAR. AND THEN IT ZOOMED IN. WHAT SKILL WAS I USING AT THAT MOMENT?
He didn't have to think too much about it.
OH YES, THE SUPERPOWER. WOW. I HAD NO IDEA THAT I COULD DO SUCH A THING WITH THE SUPERPOWER.
He tried to chuckle.
I BET THAT THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT MOST OF THE SKILLS THAT I'M USING.
His face changed.
WHY WOULD I KNOW THEM WHEN THE DUMB SYSTEM REFUSES TO GIVE A CHANCE TO ASK QUESTIONS. DUMB BASTARD.
He growled. Suddenly, he noticed a big fish swimming in his direction.
[Ping! Aqua Zone: A middle aged Lungfish, hit her with the sharp sickle in the middle of its mouth, at the top.]
IN THE MIDDLE OF ITS MOUTH, AT THE TOP. WHAT A DUMB DESCRIPTION.
He wanted to make fun of the system but he knew he didn't have the time for that. He quickly dived in the direction of the big fish which had already seen him. DON'T RUN FROM DEATH, MILADY.
He was close enough to the fish which had turned to him too.
YOU WON'T GO DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT?
That was what it seemed to him. He had no other explantation for the sudden change in the fish's decision.
At first, it'd seemed as though the fish was trying to escape, but then it turned all of a sudden and was charging at him.
SORRY.
Damien pushed his body out of the fish's way, twirling. He could swear that those moves weren't predetermined. He was only acting based on his instinct. A strange instinct.
Doing that, the fish missed him. He could push his body violently towards its big fin and use that as an aid to climb on its back.
It only took seconds and the tip of his sickle was seated in the mouth of the fish; driven through the top, through the upper roof to the lower.
FISH GILLS IS THE SAME AS HUMAN LUNGS.
He recalled what his grandpa had thought him. He needed to do something because the fish was still fighting for its life.
He pulled the sickle out and drove it through the gills. It took a little fight before the fish powered down and quit struggling.
WAHH... THAT'S TOUGH.
He heaved a heavy sigh, climbing down the wide back of the big and long fish.
It was time to go through the struggle of pulling the fish out.
[Ping! System notification: Killed a Lungfish and gained 200 experience points.]
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHAT DO I NEED FOR? I MEAN WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH 200 POINTS WHEN I HAVE 300K PLUS?
Damien chuckled at how ridiculous the system was.
[Ping! System notification: Jungle wits loading.]
HUH?
Damien's eyes widened. The peaceful face became a mess.
JUNGLE WITS IN THE OCEAN? BRUH, WHAT THE FUCK.
NO, NO WAY.
It seemed he knew what that meant. It meant,
TROUBLE. BIG TROUBLE.
[Ping! Jungle wits: Incoming attack. Hunt down the Great White Shark and gain two system gems.]
[Ping! Aqua Diary: The Great White Shark is the deadliest shark in the world.]
OH SHIT. WHY IS THERE A SHARK? I HAVEN'T EVEN GONE FAR INTO THE OCEAN. A SHARK SHOULDN'T WANDER THIS FAR.
[Ping! System medic: Host failed to treat the wound in his leg caused by a crab. The drops of blood from the wound guided the famished Great White Shark.]
OH SHIT.
Damien took the risk of looking down at his legs. The salty water had washed his toes and made them white. That way he could see the red dot of the cut.
HOW COULD I NOT HAD NOTICED IT WHEN I WOKE UP?
Suddenly he heard a wild movement in the water, and crazy rumbling. He looked, the great white shark was zooming towards his.
JESUS, THIS DOESN'T LOOK GOOD.
He held unto the dead Lungfish and turned it vertically towards the charging shark.
COME BASTARD, DO YOU THINK I'M SCARED OF YOU---
The shark got to it and paved its terrifyingly wide mouth. In a snap, it had ripped the Lung fish into pieces.
MY HAND!!!
Damien almost lost his left hand. The shark shook its head in frenzy, tossing the Lungfish into its mouth.
OH GOD, THIS IS BAD.
He slowly pushed his body back as the shark gobbled up the last part of the Lungfish. Damien didn't need to be told what the next thing was.
The creepy eyes of the shark sent chills down his spines. He didn't need to be told what next to do.
FUCKING PSYCHO.
He turned and began to roll and twirl away... whatever he could do to escape from the shark.
The shark on the other hand was determinedly coming behind him...
Quite a show...
