Chapter 16 - COUPLES OUTFIT?
The next morning. I woke up early as I had a terrible night, I wasn't sure what it was, but I needed coffee as soon as possible. I stepped out in my pajamas, half asleep, as my eyes were barely open.
I entered the kitchen, and there was no one. I couldn't find a coffee, let alone a coffee machine. I itched my head, confused.
"Good morning, Tiff." My eyes gaped. I recognized the voice and the familiarity.
The presence caused a strange sensation in my stomach. It wasn't Kai. It was someone I wanted to avoid, like a plague. I turned around wearing the fakest smile.
He chuckled, "Fancy seeing you here. Especially as a wife," he said.
"Hi, Michael," I said. I knew the driver from yesterday looked familiar. My mind was too busy to pinpoint here until I heard the name, Tiff. Michael was the only one to approach me that way. We worked together at Queen's Club and almost had a relationship.
"Hi? I was disappointed you didn't recognize me."
I chuckled lowly, stepping backward gently. "I'm sorry about that. I was exhausted from the flight. How have you been?"
He sighed heavily, taking a few steps forward as I backed away.
"I've been fine. You know, trying to survive after Queen's shutdown. I searched everywhere for you, but no one knew what happened to you. You changed your line and everything. I thought you were dead, Tiff," He sounded calm and sincere. But that wasn't my issue anymore. I wasn't the same girl anymore, and I couldn't afford to lose whatever Kai and I agreed on if this contract was over. I needed it, and I'd place any man after it.
"How did you " I darted around, avoiding his gaze.
"I was lucky. I didn't plan on meeting you here, but I'm happy I did," He paused. "Didn't you say you would never get married? How come? The wife of a billionaire. How did it happen? I mean, you rejected me countlessly."
I exhaled softly. I didn't want this conversation to go on any longer. I can't tell him anything even though I wanted to. It was against the contract.
The room was silent, and I hoped to walk away instead of listening to whatever he had to say, but fear gripped my feet, leaving me in the same position. Michael wasn't a calm, soft man. He was hot-tempered.
I cleared my throat. "Michael, I am here for a coffee. I don't—"
The door opened, and Kai walked in. His fluffy hair looked rough. He had a hand in his black trousers, matching a black shirt. His blue eyes dimmed, traveling from my head to toe.
"I'm sorry. Grace hasn't arrived. Are you here for your coffee? I could brew you some," His husky voice echoed the kitchen. Kai walked past Michael towards me. His arms wrapped around my waist, and he leaned to me, kissing my forehead. He looked down at me, and my gaze met his. I blinked as my eyes danced around his face. Was this the same man as yesterday?
"What's gotten into you?" I whispered, and my voice cracked, and I choked.
"Good morning," He kissed my lips, and I hiccupped. A smirk curled his lips as he walked past me finally, noticing Michael. His smile disappeared, and he looked at me.
"Do you want something, Ricky?" He asked. Michael looked at me, and my brows furrowed. Ricky? What the hell was that?
"No, Sir. I—"

"Then you shouldn't be here. This is my wife's kitchen. I thought Benson made it clear to everyone yesterday?" Kai said, taking a deep breath and standing straight.
Michael's eyes darted at me and Kai before he lowered his head. "I'm sorry, Mr Winson, I won't make such a mistake again."
I blinked, looking at the aisle, pressing my lips tightly.
"And my wife?" Kai said, I raised my gaze, shaking my head slightly.
"I'm sorry, Mrs Winson, please accept my apologies," Michael said before I could speak, leaving me in awkward silence.
My gaze followed Michael until he was out of sight. My shoulders sagged in relief.
"So, who is he? Your boyfriend? Or an ex?"
"What?" I blurted out in shock. I hadn't expected Kai to ask that. Most importantly, how did he know I knew Michael?
"Did you break up with him? There's a camera in here. It's mandatory. Benson had reported it to me yesterday. Do you need me to fire him?"
My jaw dropped. A camera? I forced my eyes not to scrutinize around, but I couldn't. I swallowed, looking around for a camera, and he wasn't wrong.
I shifted my gaze to Kai. "He isn't my boyfriend. We only worked together, and he is also good at his job. He didn't expect to find me here. There's no need to fire him," I replied. "Then that's fine. Put on something nice, we are going on a date."
I felt a cold breeze blow against my skin.
"Oh," I spat, staring at the floor. Everything was coming to me too quickly. "A date? What about my coffee?"
I raised my head, looking in his direction. Our eyes met, and I looked out the window, avoiding that piercing gaze.
Put on something nice. We are going on a date," His words rang in my head, echoing loudly. It suddenly sank in, and I looked back at him.
"A date?" My smile grew wider. I tilted my head slightly. "Are you serious?" I giggled, walking towards him carefully.
"We are in Cancun. Do you want to spend it all at home?"
"Right? Oh my, we should make a list so we can follow accordingly," I shrugged. I could tell he didn't look entertained or concerned. That wasn't my business.
I paused, pouting. I could hear Kai exhale loudly. He pushed his hands into his pocket. He didn't seem to like the idea as much as I did, I could tell from the bitter glares.
"A matching outfit. You know, like regular couples, um, brown and light beige? Or white?"
"I think you're confused, Love. We are just having breakfast," his deep voice shattered all my expectations.
