Chapter 15 - WELCOME TO CANCUN
"Welcome to Cancun, Mexico," Kai said as we walked towards a black car awaiting us at the airport.
Everything was happening so fast that I couldn't believe from never flying commercial to straight-up, flying private jet.
Mexico felt sunny, bright, and cool. My smile from ear to ear faltered. The car door opened for me, and I got in. I watched Kai walking to the other side of the car before the door opened. He handed a security bag he was carrying. During the ride through town, I couldn't stop staring at the streets. Everyone seemed so cheerful, even the children who played on the streets.
I had never been surprised this way. I looked at Kai, and he was focused on his phone. "When did you plan all this? Do we even have a place to stay?" I whispered, side-glancing the driver who seemed familiar and wouldn't stop staring. "Do you think I would fly a private jet and not have a place to stay?" His glare held my gaze.
I nodded. "Sure, whatever," I said, reclining on the brown car seat. I sighed heavily, looking out the window. I was exhausted, I thought we would never land, but we did.
Cancun, Mexico, looked too nice and warm and felt so cosy. I wished I could bring my mom here. I pressed my lips tightly. The clouds were bright blue, which reminded me so much of my mother. This was her favourite weather and the sky colour was her favourite.
It didn't take a lot of time. We arrived at a mansion. My eyes popped open, and I rolled the window down to stare at the all-white mansion. I almost choked, I looked at Kai. He didn't seem troubled or bothered. Instead, he wrapped up, getting ready to get down.
"I thought we were staying at some hotel, isn't this too much for us?"
He stared at me blankly, slightly confused. Kai looked back to the mansion and finally caught up with what I was saying.
He smirked, "Till you get down," He whispered. Our door opened at once, and I looked at my side. A black man in a black suit made way for me to get down.
I looked back at Kai, and he had already gotten down. I quickly got down, looking around, and my jaw dropped. Three cars followed after us, and I hadn't noticed.
"Everything is in order, Sir. Is there anything you want me to do?" One of the men jogged to Kai. He glanced around the mansion before his gaze found me, his brows raised, and fell with a disappointing look I didn't want to entertain. "That's all, Benson. Why don't you stick to Tiffany while we are here, attend to her every need."
My death glares disappeared, and my countenance changed. I slowly walked over to Kai, smiling at Benson.
"Could you give us a moment?" I said through my gritted teeth.
"Yes, Miss Halton," He replied, I almost choked. I stared at Kai, anticipating a hint of jest, but he stood there stiff as if I had forced him to come on this trip.
For a second, I had forgotten about our contract. I couldn't imagine, I thought this bummer loved me. I blinked, trailing off as I recognised a familiar stare, I looked behind Kai, and it was the driver. He immediately lowered his gaze, folding his hands.
I cleared my throat. He had been staring from the ride, and it made me uncomfortable. I looked at Kai, and he furrowed his brows.
My eyes lit as Kai opened his mouth to speak. I quickly tiptoed, using my hands to cover his mouth. Shushing him and pulling him closer to the huge brown door, I surmised it was the entrance.
I hurriedly climbed the stairs, my hands still over Kai's mouth. He paused, causing me to stagger as I tried to keep my balance. Kai's long, graceful hands caught mine, pulling me to his body, my hands pressed against his chest. My head rested on his tough chest. Everywhere became silent, and I stared there, not knowing what to do. As the silence dragged on, I could hear his heart racing so hard that it held a certain enchantment that weaved through my ears like a spell, and I wanted to stay there listening to it.
But my fantasy ended so quickly. "Are you dumb?" A hard edge crept into his voice, yet soft.
I gulped in embarrassment, making me feel hot. I moved away, my lips quivered, and I tried to explain what had just happened, but he stared at me and sighed heavily. I didn't have an excuse, but what in the world had me so clumsy? Kai walked past me, and the huge door I perceived to be the entrance was indeed the entrance. Shame washed through me.

"Oh my goodness! What! TIFFANY!" Noami yelled over the phone. Her blaring voice almost chased my soul.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't in a state to tell you," I groaned.
I washed up, walked out of the shower with a towel wrapped around my hair, and covered in a white robe. I sat at the dressing table, applying some skincare. I dropped my phone on the table, picking out a toner.
"Oh my god, so you're with that monster in Cancun?" Noami asked, almost like she didn't believe me. I couldn't either. I never thought I would be able to travel for holidays.
"He isn't a monster, Noami," I said lightly.
"Girl, are you defending him? I'm sorry for calling your husband names," she said, and I could hear her light chuckle in the background.
"No, it's not that. I don't know. This doesn't feel like a vacation. It feels more like a business vacation," I paused, "he calls me Tiffany," I murmured, staring at my reflection in the mirror. My mind drifted in thoughts. Why did I seem desperate to hear him call me love again? I was always against it. Did it grow on me?
"What? What was that?" Noami's voice dragged my soul back to reality.
"Huh? What was what?" I blinked, looking at my phone sitting on my dressing table.
