Chapter 17 - BREAKFAST, NOT A DATE
"It's just breakfast, not a date," Kai clarified. I sighed, shutting the menu book.
"I've got that, I'm not sure you're stating a point. I think you're just teasing me. It's ridiculous," I said, rolling her eyes and dropping the menu on the table of a restaurant.
Kai smiled, twirling his hands and signaling for the waiter. I lowered my head, quickly messaging Noami, but Noami hadn't replied to my message for almost two hours. She could be in court, I sighed, lifting my head to find the waiter gone. "Do you want anything?" Kai asked. I cleared my throat.
"You already ordered. I—"
"Kai! Is that kai?" A male voice interrupted. I looked behind me to find a dashing young man walking towards us in a black suit. "Of course!" He yelled, and his gaze shifted to me, I forced a smile, but it didn't seem to go well. I'm not sure he liked my smile because his face dropped cold immediately.
The restaurant was quiet on our end, except for the whispers around, and the soft musical playing. I looked at Kai, and his gaze trailed away.
"Oh, you are gorgeous," the man said. "Who is she? Come on, introduce her to me," He urged, but Kai got up.
"Levi, it's nice to meet you, but we can continue our discussion some other time," Kai whispered. I darted at their faces, but Levi seemed more cheerful, but also greatly clueless about us.
It wasn't my place to speak. I looked away and continued on my phone. I couldn't speak if Kai didn't want to or permit me to. It was his life, I wasn't allowed to ask.
"Alright, see you some other time. I mean, I didn't think I would see you in Cancun, especially for business," Levi said. I raised my brows, slightly shaking my head.
I want to assume he was one of those rich clueless, spoilt brats who didn't read the news. If he did, he would know who I am, since Kai's marriage life is the talk of the town. Besides, who comes to Cancun for business?
"My lady," Levi called. I looked, and he waved tiny. "I'll see you some other time. Could I perhaps get your business card?"
My gaze shifted to Kai, but his blank expression was difficult for me to understand.
I smiled. "Next time."
Levi looked at Kai, tapped his shoulders, and walked away. Kai sat back down, and I stared at him for a moment.
"Let's leave," He cleared his throat, grabbing his phone. My jaw dropped, and I looked around, startled by the statement. The waiter hadn't arrived, and I hadn't eaten yet.
"What? Why? Hey!" I frowned, my heart racing with anger, and sadness because I was dying to eat.
I got up, about to follow after him. I fell back to the chair, my ankles hurt so bad. I looked underneath the table to find my heel broken.

"What?" I gasped, bitterness almost sent me mad. "Even a thousand dollars heel? You too?" My chest was heavy.
I raised my head and noticed the waiter with our dish. My mouth twitched, I exhaled, watching her arrange the food on the table. Gosh, they looked so yummy, I mean it's a five-star restaurant, what was I expecting? The sweet aroma caused my mouth to water.
"Is your husband not joining, Mrs?" The lady said
"Huh?" I gazed at her. Her words seem to have registered late. I nodded, and cleared my throat quietly, "Yeah, he isn't," I rolled my eyes, and an awkward laugh bubbled out of my throat.
I looked at the mouth-dripping pancake gazing lovingly at me. A pink syrup rolled down and it looked so fluffy. I was dying to take a bite, I bet it melted in my mouth, and I licked my lips unnoticed, swallowing the saliva that gathered in my mouth. I took a deep sharp breath letting my nose eat some before I proceeded. The waiter walked away.
As I was about to take a bite. I felt a presence hovering over me. It felt like a warning. I quickly pushed my spoon, tasting it. It melted in my mouth exactly how I expected it to. It tasted like coconut milk and strawberry. My eyes sank back and closed briefly as I chewed.
By the time my eyes opened. The hovering spirit was sitting in front of me. I choked, dropping my cutlery and banging my chest.
"Oh," I coughed, quietly, trying to explain to Kai, but he grabbed his plate of pancakes.
"That looked delicious, here. Take this," he pushed a cup of water. I grabbed the glass of water, quaffing.

I felt better but coughed slightly. "My heel broke, and you had already walked away, so—"
"This is lovely," Kai said.
I swallowed, forcing myself to smile. I wasn't sure if he meant that. He wasn't saying anything and that made me incredibly nervous. My mouth tightened.
"Did you hear? Carlos is coming to F8 tonight," I heard and looked to where the voice sounded. Two Mexican girls sat directly opposite each other. One held a flyer, and the man in the picture looked freaking hot.
I shifted my gaze to Kai. "I thought you wanted to eat this? You seem too invested in what they are saying."
An idea suddenly played in my head. I took out my phone, checking what F8 was. I gasped, seeing it was a Club. An evil smile craned my lips without my permission, I shook my head, shaking off the thought and the smile. "Why are you smiling?" Kai asked. My attention poured on him.
"Do you want to go somewhere?"
"Where?" He said, munching on the pancake in such a sexy manner. I almost lost my focus.
"There," I pointed to the flyer the lady was holding. Our gaze met, and his brows raised, pushing a spoonful of pancake into his mouth. My gaze followed the flick of his lips caressing the spoon in such a delicate manner. My heart skipped a beat.
"Fine, whatever you want," he said. I blinked, glancing downwards, my face burned.
