Chapter 10 - THE CARTERS
I groaned as I rolled to and fro as my alarm bothered me. I lay on my back and finally opened my eyes to the dim room. I sighed heavily, another day to be pissed by Kai.
I grabbed my phone from the bedside table and unlocked it. I opened my notes, staring at my schedule for today.
I groaned even louder, seeing it was the wives club today. I hated going there, I wondered what it would be this time. Sex? The topics were something I hated.
I turned on a calm jazzy and danced my way into the shower, taking my time. It was only nine in the morning, and I had to be at the meeting by noon.
I sat staring at the group of ladies, sipping from their small teacups while they discussed the latest bags, clothes, and shoes. I plastered a wide smile, nodding to everything they said. I could barely relate because all I had to do was spend Kai's money and look good for him. I haven't thought about the names of bags and clothes and other accessories.
The gathering wasn't large yet. There were just five ladies, and most were important, for example. Mrs Walter, Mrs Carter, Mrs Ashton, Mrs Anderson, and Mrs Graham.
"Tiffany, what about you? How do you spend your day?" I almost choked on my tea once I heard my name.
I glanced around, and all eyes were on me. The meeting today was held at Carter's ranch again.
"Nothing much, I stay at home all day, except I have to be at a gathering like this, I sit on my couch all day, waiting for my husband to be home," I said, slowly while I observed their facial expressions.
"You stay home all day? Don't you cook Mr Winson breakfast, at least?"
"He does that whenever he feels like it. Or the cook does," I plastered a wider smile. "Kai's a very good cook."
"So, you do nothing?" Mrs Graham said. "Don't you want to have children, believe me, your husband's attention would be yours again. You can get to surprise him and more."
I looked at Mrs Graham, her eyes shining with confidence. I smiled, but my smile turned into soft laughs.
"Yeah, we surprise each other a lot." I nodded. Mrs Graham's eyes darted around.
"You do? That's good then," she glanced around at the confused-looking faces.
"Alright. I hope you don't mind, Tiffany. Amelia offered to remain in the club, and being a divorcee doesn't stop her from being with her friends." Graham said.
The others started to whisper, and I heard laughs from afar. I looked in the direction of the noise and found Amelia with some other women.
She wore a white polo tucked in black Khai trousers. Her hair was parked in a clean ponytail. Her black boot pierced through the sand, walking towards us. "Amelia," I whispered while staring at her. She must be bored to decide to remain here even as an ex-wife.
"You don't mind, right? Mrs Winson?" I nodded, subconsciously, turning to Graham.
"Yeah, I don't mind. She's nothing more." I whispered. Amelia got closer, and her smile seemed to have brightened the gathering before she even said anything. "Amelia, how was your trip and day?" Graham asked, moving closer to her.
My gaze shifted from Amelia's mocking gaze to Kylie's. "Believe I have a club I can recommend that doesn't have her in it," Kylie whispered.

I looked at her, and a loud, non-elegant smile rumbled out of my throat, completely losing character.
Everyone turned to me, and I composed myself, sitting upright. A small smile craned my lips, and I sat still like a doll.
As soon as their attention was focused on Amelia again, I turned to Kylie.
"Is that so? Can I see it?" I asked, and she nodded.
"You're more than welcome," she replied.
I stared at my phone in my hands, and Kai's text had just come in.
Kai: We never discussed the vacation you wanted. Is that still open?
I smiled sheepishly. I quickly opened my phone to reply, but the sound of my name caused me to raise my head.
"Isn't that Mr Winson and your husband, Mrs Carter?" I turned around to find Kai in a black polo, white trousers, and white sneakers. His hands were buried in his pocket as he listened to whatever Mr Carter was saying. This was also my first time seeing Kylie's husband. I thought he was a young man. But he looked older. He looked like he was in his early forties. Brown hair, I couldn't take a look at his eyes.
They walked closer to us, but Kai's feet didn't stop until he reached where I was. His hands wrapped around my neck, carefully, and his lips caressed mine.

"Why don't we have dinner with Carter's today?" He whispered to me. My eyes darted around those deep blue eyes, and I gulped hard.
I wrapped my hands around his neck, gently, and my senses had left me, but as I raised myself to kiss him, I stopped.
My words echoed in my head. "I'm sorry, that would never happen again."
I blinked, staring at Kai. "What's wrong?"
"I moved away. "Nothing, Jesus, what are you doing here," I said, and his brows rose. I sideglanced, and everyone was staring. "Oh, I'm just surprised you're here."
"Is it?" He chuckled.
"Yeah." I nodded. Kai blinked and turned in Mr Carter's direction. His gaze found mine again, holding my hands and pulling gently to stand beside him.
"Mr Carter, my wife. Tiffany Winson," Kai intoned.
I lowered my gaze. "Oh, lovely, it's nice to have you. My wife tells me a lot about you. I finally get to meet the mighty Kai's wife," Mr Carter said. I looked at Kylie, who blushed in embarrassment. "It's an honor to meet you also, Kylie tells me about you," I spoke, smiling, but his next question sent me speechless.
"Oh, she does. What does she say?" He asked.
