Chapter 764
Sebastian smiled bitterly.
"She wouldn't have understood. Even if I told her, she would only get angrier and might think you're foolish. So let her blame it all on me. If I told her that it was your choice to proceed with this, she'd berate you. I know you respect her a lot, and I don't want you to suffer any distress."
Sebastian's choked up voice pierced Rosalie's heart. She grasped his hand tightly. "Seb, thank you for protecting me, and for accepting my unreasonable request."
In this world, only Sebastian truly understood her. If it had been someone else, they would have chosen to terminate the pregnancy.
Sebastian treated her the best in this world. He truly cared for her, unlike Theodore, who, under the guise of caring for her, hurt her and divorced her, resulting in both of them being unhappy.
"Rose, none of your requests are unreasonable." Sebastian gently caressed her face. "I know how important this child is to you. You would never give up on it, so I made that choice because I understand you."
He held her hand tightly and kissed her fingers. "No matter what, I'll always stand by your side and support you."
Rosalie, with tears in her eyes, looked at him. "Seb, let the doctor check your face."
Sebastian replied, "I've already had the doctor look at it and applied some medicine. Don't worry, the swelling will subside in a few days."
Seeing Sebastian's face so swollen, Rosalie couldn't imagine how hard Sydney must have hit him. Regardless, Sydney shouldn't have laid hands on him. Sebastian had endured the hatred of the Spencer family for her sake.
"Don't cry," Sebastian said tenderly, wiping her tears away. "Rose, please, don't cry. You've just had surgery and need rest. If you cry, the baby in your belly will also be upset."
"I won't cry." Rosalie wiped her tears away and said, "Sebastian, could you do me a favor?"
"What favor?" Sebastian asked.
"Help me name the baby."
Sebastian's face froze. He seemed incredulous. "You want me to name the baby?"
Rosalie nodded. "Yes. It doesn't matter if the baby takes my last name or Theodore's. You can choose a name for the baby, one for a boy and one for a girl."
She wanted to give him the right to name the baby as a way of repaying his kindness. It was he who signed the papers to save the baby at the crucial moment, so he had the right to name them.
Sebastian gently stroked her belly.
"I'm so happy, but naming the baby is an important task. Give me some time to think, and I'll come up with a few names for you to choose from, okay?"
Rosalie nodded. "That's fine. Take your time."
"But what if you come up with names before me, or if someone else thinks of better names?" Sebastian asked.
"I'll use the names you come up with." Rosalie firmly said, "Sebastian, I want you to name the baby. No matter how good the names others come up with, I won't use them."
Sebastian smiled gently. Even though it caused him pain to stretch his injured face, he was happy.
"Thank you. I'll come up with a good name for the baby. I promise you that no one else's name will be better than mine."
"Of course." Rosalie suddenly thought of something, "By the way, did Theodore call me during the surgery?"
Theodore again! Sebastian was unhappy. She still mentioned Theodore in the end.
Sebastian shook his head. "No, but I did receive a call from Sydney. She came over when she learned you were having surgery, and we had a dispute because of your surgery."
"Theo didn't call me at all?" Rosalie closed her eyes in pain. "Why is he so cruel? Why didn't he give me any hope? Does he not want the baby?"
"I do." Sebastian pressed her hand against his face. "Rose, the baby cannot be without a father. I'm the father. Theodore doesn't want the baby, but I do."
Rosalie's heart ached deeply. She wanted Theodore to want the baby, but she didn't voice this thought aloud.
However, Sebastian could tell what
she was thinking from her
expression. He could never compare to the biological father of the child, no matter what he did. It was so unfair.
Was bloodline really that important? He had stayed by Rosalie's side, while the child's so-called father was nowhere to be found. Moreover, the child's father had once deeply hurt her
"Seb, you can be the child's godfather." That was all she could offer him.
Just a godfather? So, this was all Rosalie could give him.
The pain in his heart was immense, but he still faced it with a smile. "Alright. I'll take whatever you give me. As long as it's from you, it's the best."
