Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 17
Chapter 17
He asked the receptionist about Alan Reid’s room number and he was led to the pediatric ward. He stood outside the closed door of the common ward and was about to peer inside when the door opened.
The older woman took one look at him and froze. The woman had a little stuffed toy in her hands and a blanket was slung over her shoulder.
“Oh, are you looking for Wynne?” Ana’s mother asked. This confirmed the truth to Damien. Ana indeed had a baby. But that didn’t explain why Ana’s mother would know who he was. Did she tell her mother about them?
“Actually, I was looking for Anastasia. I have some work with her.”
The woman shifted awkwardly and slid out of the room. She made it a point to close the door behind her. “Ana is… taking a nap.”
“A nap?” Damien asked suspiciously.
“She had a rough night last night.”
“Oh, yes. The baby. I heard about that. How is he doing this morning?” Damien believed that if he pretended to know, the woman would be forthcoming with information.
Her eyes widened and at that moment she seemed to realize what she was holding and where she was standing. She yanked the blanket from her shoulder and put it behind her back. “What exactly… have you heard?” she questioned.
“Oh, Mr. Reid said Alan got into the medications and had to have his stomach pumped.”
Ana’s mother nodded but said nothing. She didn’t give Damien an inch. She turned to walk back into the ward, but Damien stopped her.
“Mrs. Reid?”
“What?” she turned to face Damien.
“Is Ana married?”
The woman coughed and then pressed her hand to her mouth. She glanced towards the room. And Damien could only imagine it must have been so that no one else was disturbed.
“No, she is not married,” she replied with a chuckle.
“Was she?”
“Never.”
“Boyfriend?”
Ana’s mom gaye Damien a critical look. A flash passed her eyes without Damien noticing. “I guess you could consider Marcus her, boyfriend. Why?” she challenged.
Marcus Marcus.
“Oh, is Marcus Alan’s father?” he tried to sound innocent. “I just got in touch with Ana through work recently and haven’t gotten around to asking her about the details.” Damien couldn’t tell if the woman knew he was lying or not. But it was worth
a shot.
“My daughter is an extremely private person, Mr. Wright. I don’t feel comfortable talking about this. When she wakes up, I will let her know that you stopped by.” With that, she went back into the ward.
Chapter 17
Now Damien had a name. Marcus. But if Marcus was her boyfriend, then who was the guy from the bar?
Now, he had to leave with more questions than he had come with. And he had to leave the city for a few days because of work. He hoped to speak to Wynne before he left, but she seemed unbothered Damien didn’t know why he cared so much, but he had to have Anastasia. As wrong as it was, Anastasia had been the one whose touch had lit him up. She had marked him without even trying or realizing it. He had spent years denying what Ana made him feel. That he didn’t just like her intelligence that he wasn’t just drunk
He was acting out on repressed emotions towards the one woman who would not have him. The moment he saw her again, he wanted her. He wanted to breathe the same air as him and beg until she forgave him.
She has a baby. He kept thinking over and over again.
Why would Anastasia hide something like that? When he saw Wynne, he asked one thing. “Did you know Anastasia had a baby?” he growled.
Wynne opened her mouth quickly and then closed it. “Where did you hear that?”
“I overheard Ana’s father speaking…..”
Wynne’s lips curled up. “I see.”
“Why is it such a big secret?” he pressed.
“I am not sure if it is a secret. I mean… everyone knows.”
Damien was getting irritated. He knew he was being kept in the dark about something. “Everyone but me.”
“My god, you were just her former employer. She doesn’t need to tell you when she reproduces because of that.”
“Is it my fault?” he asked.
Wynne coughed and choked. “How could that be your fault?” she asked.
“I don’t know. Was she shunned and changed because of my selfish mistakes?”
“Changed?” Wynne laughed.
“I mean–s she was at the club with a guy but she has a kind–of boyfriend called Marcus. Seriously, I don’t understand. Is he
the father?”
Wynne knew Marcus was Ana’s neighbor from the other city. And this person was the perfect scapegoat. “Yes, he is the father.”
If Ana didn’t want to tell him, Wynne wouldn’t make her.
Damien sighed in relief. “Is he good to her?” he said quietly. “The father. This Marcus guy.”
“Marcus is really good to her.” Wynne sighed. “You are getting late for the flight. If you have any questions you can ask Anastasia when you return. You just need to understand that this is complicated for her, so don’t push her.”
That sentence flared his anger, but he could only hop onto the plane and wait for a few days to get answers.
“Ana, you are running out of time. He already knows you have a kid. You really need to clear things up before he makes some twisted story in his head,” Wynne groaned. It was right before a team meeting and Damien was going to attend.
Her words stabbed through Ana. She knew Damien deserved to know. But it sure as hell wasn’t easy to tell him.
“I am not sure I can do this,” she whispered. “Can I run away?”
J
could,” Wynne replied, looking serious “You could, but Damien will find out that Alan is his, and I can guarantee that he will not rest until he finds you. Do you think that he is going to be mad now? If you leave, he will figure it out. And you will be at his mercy. No matter how much I try, I won’t be able to absolute torture he will bestow on you. Can you handle
tsat
Ana took several deep breaths. It was not news to her. She had always known that if she ran, he would follow. Even if he dadn’t want anything to do with Alan Jr. he would confront her for her deception
“It’s so hard to keep things from him. You can run if you want but…”
“I am not going to run. But that doesn’t mean I don’t
She paused. “Do you think he suspects)”
Wynne shook her head “Not a clue. Thinks he broke you or something”
