Born To Rule

Chapter 9:

The next day

In Accalia’s head: I can't remember the last time I slept this well. I feel so warm and cozy. Too warm and cozy. Wait…what is this on my back? What the fuck?!

Accalia: “MALIK!!”

Malik: “Can't you see that I'm trying to sleep?”

In Accalia’s head: I'm gonna murder him.

Accalia: “WAKE UP!!”

Malik: “True fact, frowning like that can cause severe wrinkles. Wouldn't want you to ruin that pretty face of yours.”

In Accalia’s head: Did he just call me pretty? Don't blush.

Malik: “Didn't your mother ever tell you that it's rude to stare?”

Accalia: “Sorry.”

Malik’s Wolf: “We made her sad.”

Malik: “Look I'm sorry. Can we please just start over?”

Accalia: “I would like that.”

Malik: “How did you sleep?”

Accalia: “Okay, thank you.”

In Accalia’s head: Best sleep of my life more like.

Accalia: “What happened last night?”

Malik: “You don't remember?”

Accalia: “Truthfully, it's all a bit of a blur. What happened and whose bed is this?”

Malik: “Right after our talk, you passed out so I picked you up and carried you to bed.”

In Accalia’s head: Why am I such an embarrassment to my species?!

Accalia: “That still doesn't explain whose bed this is.”

Malik: “Oh, um…this is my bed.”

In Accalia’s head: I’m in Malik’s bed?! Who am I kidding? There are worse places to be.

Malik: “So you're not mad?”

Accalia: “Not at all. Thank you for taking care of me.”

Malik: “Anytime.”

Accalia: “I should probably head back to my own room now. Did you change me?! You perv.”

Malik: “Would you calm down. Yes, I'll admit they are my clothes but Amara is the one who changed you, not me.”

Accalia: “They’re your clothes?”

Malik: “I thought you would be more comfortable sleeping in them.”

In Accalia’s head: Why is he so perfect?

Accalia: “Well, thanks for everything again. What's wrong?”

In Accalia’s head: Is Malik blushing?! Did Amara seriously forget to put pants on me?!

In Malik’s head: Don’t stare, don’t stare.

Malik’s Wolf: I’m staring.”

Malik: “Can you please control yourself?!”

In Accalia’s head: I need to come up with something fast.

Accalia: “What did the snake say to the werewolf? Hiss off.”

In Accalia’s head: This calls for drastic measures.

In Malik’s head: Did she seriously just float away?! (in the hallway)

Kai: “Hi, Accalia.”

Accalia: “Hey, Kai.”

In Kai’s head: This is what you get when you're to attractive.

Kai’s Wolf: “All that she wolves want us.”

Kai: “Hey, Accalia? Not that this isn't fun, but do you mind getting off of me?”

Accalia: “Sorry about that.”

Kai: “No harm done. What are you running away from?”

Accalia: “Let's just say that last night was eventful.”

Kai: “I'll say. Especially how angry Malik got when he thought you were missing.”

Accalia: “He was angry?”

Kai: “More like furious.”

In Accalia’s head: Interesting.

Kai: “I wouldn't take it personally. I would've done the same thing if I was in his shoes. I mean, that's what happens when you're in love.”

In Accalia’s head: Did he just say love?! Poor Kai must have hit his head harder than I thought.

In Kai’s head: Denial at its finest.

Kai: “Anyway, I'm glad I found you. I have a favor to ask you. Come to my room in a few minutes and don't be late.”

Accalia: “But I haven't showered yet!!”

Kai: “Thanks for agreeing to dye my hair again, Accalia.”

Accalia: “No worries, it's not like I had much of a choice.”

Kai: “Yeah, sorry about that. How's it looking?”

Accalia: “I don't know. You know I haven't done this before.”

Kai: “Well, what stage are you at?”

Accalia: “I finished putting the last of the product on your head. What do the instructions say?”

Kai: “Mhm, It says to let the product sit and process from forty five minutes to an hour. An hour it is.”

Accalia: “All done. I'm gonna get a drink, want anything?”

Kai: “I'm all good, thanks.”

Accalia: “I'll be right back.”

Kai: “I can't wait for Amara to see this. (one hour later)”

In Accalia’s head: I can't believe someone would leave their pizza on the side. They should have laws set in place for crimes such as this.

Amara: “Hey, Accalia. IS THAT MY PIZZA?!”

Accalia: “What pizza?”

In Amara’s head: I see she's chosen death.

Amara: “Look, Accalia. I'm sorry about last night. Usually our nights out or not that eventful.”

Accalia: “You have nothing to be sorry for. And if you think that's eventful then just wait until you see Kai’s hair.”

Amara: “What do you mean?”

Accalia: “I helped him to dye his hair. It should be ready to come off any minute now.”

Amara: “I see. Well, as long as you remember the ten minute rule then you should be fine.”

Accalia: “The ten minute what now?”

Amara: “Please tell me you only left the product on his head for ten minutes?!”

Accalia: “It was my first time dying someone's hair. The instructions said forty five minutes to an hour.”

Amara: “For humans stupid!! For werewolves, meaning we radiate a lot more body heat, thus the product will develop like five times faster.”

In Accalia’s head: Shit.

Accalia: “Kai!!”

Kai: “Oh hey, Accalia. I literally just got out of the shower. Does it look okay? Your silence speaks of all news. I'm gonna have a look in the mirror. Um, Accalia…?”

Accalia: “Yes?”

Kai: “WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HAIR?!”

Accalia: “Bye.”

Kai: “GET BACK HERE!! (in the kitchen)”

In Accalia’s head: Poor Kai. I think it's safe to say that Amara and Malik would never let him live this one down.

Amara: “Tell us again…what color did it say on the hair dye box?”

Kai: “I already told you…it was supposed to be ‘Blonde Beauty’.”

Malik: “You look more like a huge sunflower.”

Rose: “Carry on bullying Kai and the two of you can sleep outside tonight. (later on outside)”

Amara: “We're here.”

Accalia: “It's beautiful.”

Kai: “Well, what are we waiting for, let’s shift.”

Amara: Are you sure you don't wanna come with us?”

Accalia: “I think it's for the best if I sit this one out. I'll be over here if you need me.”

In Accalia’s head: The truth is, I really wished I could of joined them but Sesi has cut me off completely and because of that I can no longer shift. I feel more human than werewolf. However, I'm slowly learning to adapt and I weirdly feel okay with it. I was more excited to finally see both Amara and Kai in their wolf form. Real werewolves are not like the creatures you read in children's fantasy books. We don't need a full moon in order to transfer. We can shift when we please. I watched Kai shift first, into a medium size wolf named Onyx, who had rich, chocolate brown fur that was splattered with yellow dye. Even though you can tell that Onyx wasn't the largest of male wolves, he had a large, deep chest which meant he possessed amazing stamina. He had the ability to run for hours and never get tired, unlike multiple other wolves. Next Amara shifted into her wolf named Tundra. Even though Tundra was female, she could easily be mistaken for a male. She was huge. Tundra’s fur was a light strawberry blonde that reflected the rays of the sun. Her piercing red eyes could be seen from a mile away. Tundra had long, slick legs which probably made her one of the fastest in the pack. Onyx kept trying to pin Tundra down but she was too quick for him. While watching them play and tease each other, my mind started to wonder. It's been weeks since I saw my old pack. I wondered if Milena knows how much I miss her and that I think about her everyday. I even think about Elya. I really hope she's okay. (in the hospital)

Laneya: “Oh Elya. Please wake up soon.”

Doctor: “Good afternoon. Is everything okay?”

Laneya: “Hello doctor, I'm okay. I'm just a little tired, that's all.”

Doctor: “You've been here everyday without fail. All Elya’s vital signs look good and her wolf has completely healed itself. why don't you head home and I'll call you when she wakes up?”

Laneya: “Okay.”

Doctor: “Don't worry, she'll be okay.”

Laneya: “Don't worry, I won't be gone long. (Gunner’s mansion)”

In Gunner’s head: What is this? What are you hiding, Accalia?!
