Born To Rule

Chapter 8:

Amara: “Hey Kai. I just wanted to see if you was re…”

Kai: “Are you ready to party?!”

Amara’s Wolf: “Just back away slowly.”

In Amara’s head: Good idea.

In Kai’s head: Where did Amara go?

Kai’s Wolf: “We're just too awesome.”

In Kai’s head: So true, Onyx.

Amara: “Hey, Accalia. How are you getting on?”

Amara’s Wolf: “Stay calm.”

Amara: “Accalia, why aren't you even dressed yet?”

Accalia: “Leave me alone, I'm hormonal.”

Amara’s Wolf: “One, two, three.”

Amara: “Get dressed, right now. I did not spend all my time getting ready for you just so you can fucking ditch me. We're leaving in ten minutes so I suggest you get moving!!”

In Accalia’s head: I thought I was supposed to be the hormonal one. Time to go clubbing.

Accalia: “I’m here.

Kai: “What's wrong?”

Accalia: “I just ran all the way here.”

Amara: “But your room is only down the hall.”

Accalia: “Oh.”

Malik: “Accalia.”

Accalia: “Malik.”

In Accalia’s head: How could he be so calm? Did that moment mean nothing to him? Who am I kidding? Of course it didn't.

Amara: “Well, this is awkward.”

Accalia: “Did you wanna join us?”

Malik: “Clubbing is not my scene.”

Accalia: “That's fine. What about you Lakota? Noted.”

Amara: “Well as fun as this is, we really should be leaving.”

Accalia: “Bye, guys.”

Malik: “Don't give me that look coming you know she's not my mate. She'll be fine on her own. She can take care of herself. Fine, I'll go. You know, for someone who doesn't talk, you sure are convincing. (outside the club)”

Amara: “Why the long face?”

Accalia: “I've just never done this before. I'm a bit nervous.”

Kai: “Don't worry, we'll make sure you have an amazing time.”

Amara: “Kai’s right. There's nothing to be nervous about.”

Accalia: “But I'm not even old enough to go clubbing.”

Amara: “None of us are. Well except for Malik and Lakota. But I have my ways.”

In Accalia’s head: Interesting.

Security: “NEXT!!”

Amara: “That’s us.”

Security: “ID please.”

Amara: “I haven't seen you around here before. Why don't you let us in and I'll reward you after you've finished your shift.”

In Security’s head: Damn.

Security: “I'll see you after work, beautiful.”

Amara’s Wolf: “The dog knows!!”

Security: “Rex, down boy!! Wait!! I didn't even get your name.”

In Security’s head: Always so unlucky in love. (in the club)

Accalia: “Well that was eventful.”

Amara: “It certainly was.”

Kai: “So, are you gonna go home with that guy?!”

Amara: “Don't be silly, he's not even my type.”

Kai: “Then what is your type?!”

Odessa: “Hi. How much to store a bag?”

Danny: “Honey, you can have whatever you want, free of charge.”

In Odessa’s head: Why do I always attract the creeps?

In Danny’s head: She'll be back.

Accalia: “This place is amazing.”

Amara: “I'm glad you think so. Let's go and get a few drinks at the bar to loosen up.”

Kai: “To the bar!!”

Accalia: “Kai, can I ask you something?”

Kai: “What's up?”

Accalia: “Okay…why are you wearing that outfit?”

Kai: “I’m peacocking.”

Accalia: “Your what?”

Kai: “I'm dressing up to win Amara's affection.”

Accalia: “I see. Do you think it worked?”

Kai: “Another one please, mate. I think so.”

Accalia: “Well I'm happy for you. Where is Amara anyway?”

Kai: “She's over there.”

Amara: “I like your scar.”

Anais: “Thanks, I like yours too.”

Amara: “Thanks, let's be friends.”

Accalia: “She's so confident. I wish I could be more like her.”

Kai: “Amara is bold, yes. It's what I admire most about her but there's nothing wrong with being an introvert.”

Accalia: “But shyness is a sign of weakness.”

Kai: “In this pack, it's not. Embrace the real you.”

In Accalia’s head: The real me.

Accalia: “Thank you.”

Kai: “What are friends for?”

In Accalia’s head: If someone told me two weeks ago that this would be my new life, I would've thought they were mad but here I am, dancing as if I don't have a care in the world. The music’s sweet melody has made my reality melt away to the point that nothing else matters. all my worries and anxiety seem to drift away. Leaving only happiness and this warm nut in the middle of my stomach. And just when I seemed detached from my mental state of mind, a faint smell caught my attention. Musky and strong, like burning oak mixed with vanilla. My senses became overloaded by this intoxicating scent. Every part of my body becomes hot to the touch. Malik.

Amara: “Where are you going?!”

Kai: “Relax, she's probably just going to the bar.”

In Amara’s head: In that case…

Amara: “Get me one too!!”

In Accalia’s head: Where is he?!

Amara: “Hi, Malik.”

Malik: “Where’s Accalia?”

Amara: “I think she went to the bar.”

Malik: “You think or you know?”

Amara: “Um…”

Malik: “Help find her, now!!”

Accalia: “Who are you and what do you want?”

Creep: “Straight to the point, I like that in a woman.”

Accalia: “I could assure you that I'm not your average woman.”

Creep: “And I can assure you that I'm not your average man, sweetheart.”

Accalia: “No, just your average rat.”

Creep: “Listen here bitch. We can either do this the easy way or the hard way. On second thought, I don't mind it being the hard way, it's more entertaining.”

Accalia: “Women aren't objects for your entertainment. What kind of sick person are you?”

Creep: “Look, I appreciate your little speech, I really do. But the truth is, if it's not you, then it's just gonna be someone else.”

In Accalia’s head: This was the moment I felt the darkness overpowering my body once more. As though I was being replaced with everything that wasn't me. Anger. Vengeance. Hatred. I could feel my teeth clench tightly while my nails buried deep in my palms. Beads of sweet mixed with blood dripped on the cold, pavement floor. The scent of the blood only made me crave his more.

Accalia: “If this is gonna happen, then I have one request.”

Creep: “And what request is that?”

Accalia: “Take your shirt off and come here.”

Creep: “I love dominating woman.”

Malik: “Accalia?! Accalia, are you out here? Are you okay?!”

Accalia: “Don't help him.”

Malik: “Are you okay?”

Accalia: “I'm fine.”

Malik: “Accalia, what did you do?”

Accalia: “I don't know, I don't remember. Just don't help him.”

Malik: “He's lost a lot of blood, but he'll live.”

Accalia: “He…he tried to hurt me. Everyone tries to hurt me.”

Malik: “Come on, let's go home. (in the garden). I don't wanna push you but I really need you to tell me what happened.”

In Accalia’s head: That's when I realized that I could no longer carry this burden around with me anymore. I felt physically and mentally drained. Every time I was gifted a second chance, it was always snatched away. Maybe I don't deserve happiness. Maybe my purpose was to absorb all the negativity so others I cared about wouldn't have to endure hardships. (Malik’s wolf whines)

Malik: “You can trust me, Accalia. I would never hurt you.”

Accalia: “Is that so? You know what, I'm sick and tired of people telling me that they won't hurt me when that's all people seem to do. You want the truth? I was banished by my old pack because I hurt someone. Before then, I was bullied on a daily basis. It made me feel like I didn't belong. It made me feel different. Worthless. A freak. I only had one friend and even her love wasn't enough to make me feel like I was home.”

In Malik’s head: Accalia…

Accalia: “I'm so useless that even my own wolf doesn't wanna communicate with me. She abandoned me because every good thing in my life does. Who can blame them? I've hurt two people. I'm dangerous and that's why I'm better off alone.”

In Malik’s head: In front of me stood the loneliest, broken figure I had ever encountered. Her beautiful, radiant smile had been replaced with tears streaming from her face. Her makeup ran black strips down her face. I could hear the sounds of Accalia’s heartache while she cried. That's when I felt it. An overwhelming urge to cure her pain. To stop her tears and make sure that she never shed another tear again.

Malik: “Accalia, look at me. Look at me, please. I'll never let anyone hurt you. (Milena’s room)”

Cole: “What's wrong, Milena? Why did you mindlink me at this hour?”

Milena: “I've been thinking about this situation over and over again and every time I do, I come back to the same conclusion. Accalia was framed. Do you think Accalia would be capable of doing something like this?”

Cole: “I don't.”

Milena: “That's because she didn't do it.”

Cole: “What are you going to do?”

Milena: “Find out the truth. (Axel listening in)”
