Chapter 51
Chapter 51
When Vanessa heard William’s voice, she could almost see his smiling face and could not help but smile as well.
“Have you eaten?” William asked.
“Yes, we just finished eating”
“What did you eat?” William asked.
Vanessa saw her mother–in–law standing not far away, smiling at her. Vanessa blushed a little and said in a low voice, “There were chicken drumsticks, cream of cucumber soup, and some other dishes.”
“Was it good?” William asked again.
“Delicious.”
“Then I’ll take you there to eat more in the future,” William said.
Vanessa’s heart warmed, and she immediately asked. “What about you? Have you eaten?”
“I did.”
“That’s good.”
“Are you still shopping in the afternoon?” William asked with a smile.
“No,” Vanessa said.
“Did you eat at Tranquil Restaurant?” William was in a completely different state from when he was working.
When William was working, he was concise in his words and made every second count. Now, while he spoke on the phone with Vanessa, he was just making small talk.
William enjoyed this feeling of having small talk with her.
“Yeah.” Vanessa replied.
“I’ll come and pick you up now. Wait for me. I’ll be quick. Go to Room 1111 and wait. It’s cold outside, William said as he used one hand to cover his phone’s microphone and gave Ben instructions. “Go to Tranquil Restaurant.”
After the meeting that morning, William quickly dealt with his urgent work. Then, he ate a simple meal and went to collect the ring.
The ring was more beautiful than William had imagined. The first thing he wanted to do was to show it to Vanessa.
“Okay,” Ben immediately replied.
“Is William coming to get you?” Madison smiled and walked over to Vanessa’s side.
“Yeah, Vanessa replied.
Madison smiled. “I won’t send you anywhere then. Go in and wait. Don’t catch a cold. Hurry and wait in the private room. That’s our place.
“Okay.”
“Hurry and go in. I’ll wait for you to go in.” Madison said.
“Madison, get in the car first. I’ll go in after you go.” Vanessa opened the car door for her mother–in–law.
During this period, Vanessa had been mentally and physically exhausted because of her father’s illness. Jackson had hurt her. and she had also been repeatedly disgusted by Elena and Jackson’s mother.
However, all these negative emotions had been cured by William’s family.
William’s mother, his grandfather, and every other person in his family had made Vanessa feel warm.
“Alright, I’ll get in then. Hurry up and go in.” Madison got into the car.
“Okay. Bye, Madison!” Vanessa waved when she saw Madison roll the window down.
“Hurry and go in” Madison waved at Vanessa.
The driver drove off.
Seeing that the car had left, Vanessa looked at the time again and decided not to return to the restaurant since William said
he would be there soon.
The weather was a little cold. Vanessa put her hands in her pockets, but it was still cold, so she reached out and pulled her hoodie over her head again. Then, Vanessa wrapped her clothes tightly around her and stuffed her hands into her pockets.
The fluff from the hoodie blocked her face, and she carried several bags in her arms as she paced back and forth, waiting for
Chapter 51 William.
“What’s wrong? You were left behind after shopping and don’t even have a driver to drive you?” Elena’s voice suddenly sounded.
Elena took out her car keys in a high–profile manner and pressed the button. A car made a sound.
“Does it have anything to do with you?” Vanessa looked at Elena coldly.
Elena was practically haunting her. How many times had they met in a day?
“What’s wrong? You finally managed to find a rich man but didn’t even get a car?” Elena’s tone was frivolous, her words implying that Vanessa was nothing more than a gold digger.
Sarah also glanced at Vanessa in disdain, walking past her and straight to the car. Sarah opened the door and got in. Vanessa did not even look at Sarah, looked at Elena coldly, and spoke curtly. “Elena Jones, do you have amnesia? You’ve already been embarrassed twice this morning. Where did you get the courage to make a fuss in front of me?”
“You!” Elena was furious.
“That’s all you know how to say. What’s the point?” Vanessa retorted bluntly.
“Vanessa Sanchez, do you think you’ll be able to rest easy for the rest of your life just because you’ve hooked up with a rich man? We used to be friends, so let me remind you. While you’re still young, hurry up and dig up as much money as you can. Cozy up to your husband at night, wear fewer clothes, be more intimate with him, and get some things transferred to your name. Otherwise, when he gets tired of you and kicks you to the curb, you’ll find yourself in the same situation as before.” Elena spoke down to Vanessa.
Vanessa didn’t back down either. “If someone like you isn’t worried about that, why should I be?”
Elena let out a chuckle as if she had just heard a joke. Elena reached out and poked Vanessa’s chest. “Vanessa Sanchez, you should remember the difference between you and me. I’m the legitimate daughter of the Jones Group, and you’re just a pitiful worm who can’t even afford medical fees.”
“Don’t touch me!” Vanessa warned Elena.
Elena continued to stab at Vanessa’s chest. “Have you forgotten how Jackson’s mother threw you out back then?”
Vanessa felt a stab in her heart. She tried her best to control her emotions and warned, “I said, don’t touch me.”
Elena saw that Vanessa did not retaliate even after she had poked Vanessa a few times, and became even more arrogant. Elena continued poking. Im going to continue doing it. What can you do to me?”
The next moment, Elena cried out in pain, her expression changing drastically. Elena was in so much pain that her face twitched. “Ah, it hurts. Let go…” She hissed.
Vanessa had reached out and pulled Elena’s index finger without mercy.
Elena was in so much pain that she was breathing heavily.
“Elena, you asked for this,” Vanessa said calmly.
“You bitch… I’m going for filming soon. If there’s anything wrong with my hand, I won’t let you off. I’ll ask the media to blow things up. Oh, right, your in–laws are from Lantrie City, right? And they’re a small rich family, right? I’ll go and make a fuss and see how they kick you out.”
Vanessa sneered. “You still haven’t learned your lesson. Go and make a fuss. We’ll see what my mother–in–law does.”
Nearby, the car window rolled down. Sarah urged, ‘Elena, let’s go.”
A few words of humiliation were enough. Why had she started a physical fight?
“Sarah. I’ll be right there,” Elena immediately answered.
When Elena looked at Sarah, she was all smiles. When Elena turned back to look at Vanessa, she had a condescending look on her face again.
Elena suddenly leaned close to Vanessa’s ear and said, “Why do you think Keen Darcy’s video suddenly disappeared? You should know that Jackson is an expert hacker, right?”
Vanessa felt as if she had been stabbed in the heart again as she remembered Jackson’s cold and commanding tone when he had called her to ask her to take down the video.
What right did Jackson have?
Vanessa hated herself for being useless. It had been three years. Why couldn’t she completely expel this name from her
heart?
Vanessa quietly clenched her fists and looked at Elena calmly. “I’m sorry, I’m not interested in your matters. My husband is here to pick me up.”
Chapter 51
Vanessa felt that everything happened right on time because William’s car was driving over right at that moment.
William had always been her light in the darkness. He always appeared in her world when she was in pain, pulling her out of the abyss.
Vanessa jogged toward William’s car.
