Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Ben panicked instantly. “Mr. Hawk, 1 was wrong. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have informed Ms. Yost of your trip. I’m sorry! Please give me another chance. I will definitely not take any liberties with anything in the future.”

“Ben. I already gave you chances. I gave you three chances!” William looked solemn.

Ben had been with him for seven years, and although he was only an assistant, William did not just consider him as an employee under his command.

He offered Ben an annual salary of 1.4 million dollars per year.

Of course, Ben deserved that salary.

He did everything well except for the matter of Tracy.

“Mr. Hawk, I’m sorry. I was wrong. I overstepped. I thought you still liked Ms. Yost in your heart. Mr. Hawk, please give me one more chance to redeem myself. I promise you that I will never make any mistakes in the future.” Ben was remorseful. William said. “Yes. I still like Tracy, but I will not have anything more to do with her in my future. I am now a married man, and my wife’s name is Vanessa.”

“I was wrong. I understand it now. Mr. Hawk, please give me a chance to redeem myself. How about this? I’ll take care of Mrs. Hawk’s father and her brother. I’ll go help Mrs. Hawk’s brother with the language training,” Ben said in a hurry.

William glanced at Ben with slightly raised eyebrows. “Help Danny with his language training?”

Seeing William hesitate, Ben immediately said, “Yes, I’ll help Danny with his language training. I’ll definitely try my best to get him back to normal soon and talk like a normal person.”

“You make him talk like a normal person in one month after turning on the cochlear implants,” William said.

“Okay, I’ll make it. Ben breathed a sigh of relief and felt himself break out in a cold sweat.

He swore in his heart that he would never take any liberties with anything ever again.

William lowered his head again to deal with the paperwork in his hand.

He looked focused and processed them quickly.

Soon he signed a bunch of documents.

Noticing that Ben did not leave, he glanced at him and asked, “Anything else?”

Ben immediately asked for instructions, “Mr. Hawk, I’m going to learn the language training skills now, and I’ll go to the hospital every day next week. Please inform Mr. Cooper at that time so that Mrs. Hawk won’t be suspicious.”

“Uh–huh.” William answered.

Ben quickly left the CEO’s office as if he had been reborn.

William focused on his work, and after signing most of the important documents, he checked the time. It was almost noon.

He decided to go over to the hospital to have lunch with Vanessa.

She was too thin.

He always felt like she would not eat properly if he were not there.

He stood up. After grabbing his jacket, he left the CEO’s office and drove his Chevrolet to the hospital.

At the hospital, Vanessa couldn’t draw a new design for half a day after she drew those two brooch designs.

She tapped her head gently with a pen many times.

Suddenly, she thought of the sparkling ring Keith photoshopped the other day when he was photoshopping the photos of her and William.

A flash of light came to mind, and she wanted to draw a pair of rings.

She then started to draw the design of the rings.

After a while, the prototype of the ring appeared on the paper. She suddenly got the feeling that she was being stared at

from behind.

As soon as she turned her head, she saw Jackson appear at the ward’s entrance, holding a bouquet of carnations and carrying a box of nourishment. His eyes fell on her designs.

Vanessa stood up immediately, and there was a surge of anger in her heart. She immediately walked out and hurriedly closed the door behind her, not letting Jackson into the ward, not letting her father see Jackson.

She was so furious that she was afraid her father would find out Jackson there. She lowered her voice and gritted her teeth. “I

said that I don’t need you to come to see my dad.”

When Jackson broke up with her back then, her father was very angry.

But her father quickly calmed down and let it go. He sighed and said, “Our small house doesn’t deserve him, a rich young man. It’s better for you to break up now than get married and then get divorced.”

If Vanessa’s father saw Jackson now, he would be furious.

Her father was in really poor health now. He couldn’t withstand any more emotional impact.

Thinking about this, Vanessa’s eyes turned red with anger. She looked at Jackson indifferently and lowered her voice to drive him away. “Please leave. I beg you to leave!”

“Vanessa, I came to see Mr. Sanchez.”

“No need. My father is fine.”

“I’ll leave after taking one look at Mr. Sanchez.”

“I said no need!” Vanessa’s voice rose slightly.

Afraid her father would hear her, she lowered her voice again and said coldly, “Mr. Foster, I beg you to let us go and leave us alone, okay?”

The address “Mr. Foster” made Jackson frown

But he soon regained his normal look.

He said, “Vanessa, I heard Mr. Sanchez is not doing well. I would like to have a specialist treat him…”

“My father–in–law doesn’t need an outsider to care!” William’s voice rang out coldly.

Jackson looked over in displeasure.

When their eyes met, even the air around them was filled with anger.

Vanessa immediately jogged over when she saw William. She took William’s arm and shouted, “William.”

She originally wanted to call him “Honey,” but she could not.

“Honey!” William called her naturally.

Jackson’s eyes flashed with shock.

Was she married?

William ignored Jackson and asked Vanessa gently, “How’s Henry?”

“He finished the fluid infusion and said he was a bit sleepy. He was in good spirits after sleeping for a while,” Vanessa said.

“That’s good.” William said.

There was anger surging in Jackson’s heart for no apparent reason, his hand holding the carnations subconsciously tugged down on his tie, and he said in a faint voice, “I’ll come to see Mr. Sanchez some other time.”

Seeing a nurse’s desk not far away, he put the carnations and nourishment directly onto the nurse’s desk. He asked the nurse to help him give them to Henry and then left without looking back.

The nurse approached Vanessa, holding the carnations and nourishment, and said, “Miss, is it okay that I put the stuff in the ward?”

“Please throw them away for me. Thanks!” Vanessa said without hesitation.

The nurse looked at Vanessa with a strange look on her face, then at William. Thinking that the one who left just now was also a handsort man with an extraordinary temperament, she seemed to discover something remarkable, her eyes flashed with a gossipy look, and she gave Vanessa another envious look.

Pretty–looking girls were really enviable. There were so many men chasing after them.

The nurse left holding the carnations and nourishment.

William looked at Vanessa as if waiting for Vanessa to say something.

Vanessa suddenly wanted to confide, saying, “He is my ex. We’ve known each other for many years. We’ve known each other since middle school. We started a relationship in university and broke up the day we graduated from university.”

It had been a long time since, but Vanessa was still a bit sad when she mentioned it now.

She was not at all as valiant and decisive as she had imagined.

But one thing she liked about herself was that even though she was sad, she never came to Jackson again.

William saw that Vanessa was not in a good mood. He reached out to hold her hand and slowly walked toward the end of the

corridor.

Vanessa continued, “After we broke up, we didn’t contact each other again. I think we shouldn’t have any more interactions after the breakup. Someone else will be in his world, and the same goes for mine. That’s why I don’t want him to visit my

dad. Umm…”

The unexpected kiss made Vanessa widen her eyes.
