Chapter 17

At night, William accompanied Vanessa to look after her father at the hospital.

The next day, after breakfast, William went to the company, and Vanessa stayed in the hospital to care for her brother and father while drawing design drawings.

The director urged her two days ago, saying that her efficiency in producing drawings this month was too slow.

It was really not that she did not want to produce drawings. It was that she had too many things to do.

Her short video foreign language course had not been updated for more than twenty days.

Many people were cursing her in the comment section, asking if she was dead yet and if she wasn’t, she should hurry up and update the course.

She never mentioned to those people about her father’s illness.

It was because people’s joys and sorrows were not interconnected.

If she had mentioned that her father was sick, some people might understand, but some people would just be more frantic in cursing her, thinking she was making up reasons and excuses.

There was just enough time in the morning for Vanessa to draw designs in her father’s hospital room.

After getting her pen and paper out, her mind instantly flashed back to the cold, detached way Jackson looked at her.

Her heart tightened slightly again.

She held the pen and began to draw.

It was as if she was making a design drawing unconsciously.

Before long, a design on the paper was finished.

It was the design of an orchid brooch.

Just now,

what she had visualized in her mind was an orchid growing alone in an empty valley.

Now looking at the design, this orchid brooch could really give people a lonely and cold independent feeling.

Vanessa’s phone rang at that time. It was the director calling.

She picked it up and said hello to him. “Hello, Mr. Gris.”

Mr. Gris said on the phone, “Vanessa, I know you have to take care of your dad, but you’ve taken too much time off. Not only did you take a long leave, but you also couldn’t submit any design draft. I really can’t give an explanation to the superiors. No matter what, you must give me some good drafts today. Or else, I’m afraid I won’t be able to help you keep this job.”

“Mr. Gris, I’ll definitely hand in the designs today. I’ve caused you trouble during this period. I’m sorry for that, and thank you for your help.” Vanessa immediately thanked him.

She understood what the director meant. If she could not hand in the design today, she would be fired.

If she was alone, whatever.

But she was now the backbone of her family.

She needed this job.

Upon hearing that Vanessa would be able to hand in the design today, Mr. Gris’ attitude changed. “Vanessa, it’s not that I’m forcing you. It’s really hard for me. You must take some time to calm down and design. We, designers, must be serious about finding inspiration. If any model sells well, you can get a lot of commission.”

“Okay, I know. Thank you, Mr. Gris. I will produce the design today.” Vanessa thanked him repeatedly.

In fact, two things she had designed in the first half of the year had been selling well, but she only got more than 600 dollars in commission in total.

For the commission, she was not hopeful. She only hoped to keep 80% of her salary.

“Okay, you focus on designing. I’ll let you go.” Mr. Gris hung up on the other end.

Looking at the orchid brooch, Vanessa thought she could design a series, but after her thoughts were interrupted, she no longer had the previous feeling of sadness.

Instead, she thought about all the good William had done for her during this time.

The first day they met, he gave her 40 thousand dollars.

The next day, her father vomited blood, she called him, and he rushed to the hospital.

Later, he asked a friend to bring her father back from the dead.

He also paid for the surgery of her brother’s cochlear implants.

Yesterday, he carried her home and bought her a lot of clothes.

He said he would be responsible for her for the rest of his life.

Thinking about it, one word flashed through her mind. Redemption”

Again, the tip of her pen landed on the paper, and she started to make the design draft

She was completely immersed in the world of design.

She drew another brooch. What she thought in her mind was a girl looking up at the light.

These two design drawings were completed in one go

She pulled out another piece of paper to make another design. But she just kind of had no inspiration.

She took the pen and tapped her head repeatedly out of habit.

On the other side, William arrived at the office early in the morning to start dealing with his work.

He sat in a big executive chair, his suit was straight and solemn, and his whole person was filled with the charm of focused

work

Ben came in, holding a pile of documents, and reported. “Mr. Hawk, all these documents need to be processed today.”

“Okay,” William answered.

Ben put down the documents and stood beside the desk, wanting to speak.

William paused in his hand as he signed with an expensive signing pen and looked up at Ben discontentedly. “Anything else?”

“Mr. Hawk, here. Please take a look Ben pulled out a letter from his coat pocket.

It was a pink heart-shaped envelope.

“Who’s it from?” William glanced at the envelope and asked knowingly

Ben said. “Ms. Yost asked me to forward it to you.”

“Throw it away!” William said coldly.

Ben had worked for William for seven years and knew William. He knew he was really angry.

But he still forced himself to say, “Mr. Hawk, how about you take a look at the content before deciding whether to throw it away or not?”

William was silent.

Ben thought he had guessed right, thinking that Mr. Hawk’s blind date and marriage were really just to anger Ms. Yost.

He watched Mr. Hawk and Ms. Yost fall in love, and he knew Mr. Hawk really doted on Ms. Yost. Mr. Hawk’s love for Ms. Yost was the kind of love that was engraved in his bones.

As long as it was Ms. Yost’s phone call, no matter what Mr. Hawk was busy with, he would definitely stop and answer her phone call first.

He knew that Mr. Hawk could not let go of that relationship.

He immediately handed the pink envelope to William again “Mr. Hawk, please take a look”

William did not pick up the envelope but shouted, “Ben Wright.”

Ben was startled because William rarely called him by his full name. He immediately responded, “Yes, Mr. Hawk”

“How long have you been with me?” William asked.

“Mr. Hawk. I’ve been with you for seven years.” Ben panicked even more and had a bad feeling.

“Vanessa and I have registered our marriage. You know that, right?” William asked again.

“Yes, I know it,” Ben replied immediately.

William raised his eyelids and glanced at Ben. “Do you think it’s appropriate for me, a married man, to read another

woman’s letter to me”

Being questioned, Ben wrinkled his eyebrows. “Mr. Hawk. I hope you are happy.”

William let out a cold laugh. “So, you think my blind date and registration for marriage are all for fun?”

Ben wrinkled his brows tighter and said, “Mr. Hawk, there might be some misunderstanding between you and Ms. Yost.”

He actually said this several times when William decided to go on a blind date.

William’s voice was cold. “The moment Tracy insisted on leaving the country, she and I were completely over. My wife now is Vanessa, and my happiness in the future is only related to Vanessa. You called Tracy the day I registered my marriage with Vanessa, didn’t you?”

“Yes.” Ben lowered his head.

William asked again. “You also informed Tracy of my signing with Mr. Clark at the Coain Cafe yesterday afternoon?”

Ben lowered his head even more and explained, “Mr. Hawk, Ms. Yost did ask me about that.”

William said coldly, “I can accept you making a mistake twice, but definitely not a third time. Ben, this letter is your third time. Go to the Finance Office to settle your salary and inform Jim to take over your work.”
