Chapter 12
Sure enough, it was Jackson who came.
After breaking up more than three years ago, they met again.
Vanessa did not turn her head to look at Jackson.
In fact, she knew he had not changed much because he and Elena had gotten married the other day and made the news.
Jackson walked up to Elena and faced Vanessa.
He greeted indifferently. “Long time no see.”
“Yeah, long time no see.” Vanessa was smiling.
Her heart was excruciating with pain, but she tried to remain calm and composed.
“Jackson, my face doesn’t hurt too badly, right? It’s a bit painful.” Elena pouted at Jackson.
She deliberately showed her face to him again.
Vanessa hit her hard, and she definitely had finger marks on her face.
Seeing that Jackson did not care in the slightest, Elena’s eyes quickly flashed with unwillingness. She said coquettishly again, “Jackson, Vanessa thinks I’m the one who caused her Dad in the hospital. But I don’t even know which hospital her Dad is in!”
“Is Mr. Sanchez okay? Where is he hospitalized? I want to go see him,” Jackson asked politely as he looked at Vanessa as if he had not heard Elena’s voice.
Vanessa’s chest was heaving so much that she said indifferently, “No need. My Dad is fine. I have something to do, so I’ll leave now.”
She did not say goodbye, hoping that they would never see each other again in this life!
She hurried out of Coain Cafe with her bag.
Standing on the roadside, watching the traffic, her mood could not calm down for a long time.
She and Jackson had been neighbors since junior high school.
At that time, Jackson was not yet a descendant of the Foster family.
He was just an ordinary person like her.
He lived with his relatives, who were older and ate more vegetarian food. So, he often went hungry.
Junior high school was when they grew their bodies, so Jackson always felt hungry.
Vanessa’s father was kind–hearted and always worried that Jackson did not have enough to eat, so he often called Jackson over to eat together and served him extra food.
Vanessa and Jackson went to school together and finished school together.
At the dinner table, Vanessa’s father often told Jackson, “Jackson, Vanessa is a little girl. You should protect and take care of her in school. Don’t let her be bullied.”
He always protected her and did not let anyone bully her.
One spring, Vanessa and two girls from her class flew kites in the playground.
Many other students from other classes were also flying kites there.
Vanessa’s kite got entangled with a kite of a boy from another class.
When that boy saw her, he came up to her with a big smile on his face and said that they were destined to be together, asking her to be his girlfriend.
At that time, they were only second–year students in junior high school. Vanessa was shocked and politely refused.
But unexpectedly, the boy changed his attitude right away, calling her a shameless bitch as if he was in a high position.
It just happened that Jackson heard it when he came over with a basketball. He smashed the basketball at the boy directly and then rushed over to fight with the boy.
Jackson lost in that fight.
He was beaten and bruised.
But the boy did not get any good end, and he was also injured in several places on his body.
Finally, the boy cursed and left.
They did not meet the boy again after that.
Jackson had always protected Vanessa all the time.
They had been neighbors, friends, and also like siblings since junior high school.
Jackson had good grades and good looks, and many girls liked him, but he had not fallen in love with any girl.
His reason for rejecting girls every time was the same as her reason for rejecting boys, which was wanting to focus on studying.
A month before they applied for college, Jackson suddenly told her he was going home but would return for the SAT.
He told her to apply to Tevinia University anyway and to try her best to be admitted.
He also said, “It’s okay if you cannot be admitted. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I’ll come to you even if Tevinia University does not admit you.”
Nowadays, with advanced information, they could make phone calls, send emails, and WhatsApp messages, and so on.
No matter where she was, he would definitely come to her.
On the day the SAT results were released, he called her first and asked her if she had reached the last year’s admission score for Tevinia University.
She said, “Yes.”
What he did not know was that she was afraid she would not be able to pass the test and went all out to review hard. In the month before the test, she slept only three hours every night and even reviewed in her dreams.
She exceeded Tevinia University’s admission score by 30 points.
He was so happy on the phone that he complimented her like a child!
On the university’s opening day, he was waiting for her at the university entrance, and when he saw her, he ran over excitedly to help her take her luggage.
He reached out and took her hand, saying, “Vanessa, I’ve liked you for a long, long time, from the first moment I saw you. I was afraid my feelings for you were not strong enough, so it took me six years to verify it. I’m sure that in this life, I will like you from beginning to end. Will you be my girlfriend? I want to be with you for the rest of my life.”
He seemed to be afraid of her refusal and held her hand tightly.
His confession was simple and old–fashioned.
But she was so moved that she had tears in her eyes. She also held his hand and smiled. “Yes! You must keep your word and be with me for the rest of your life!”
She knew he had a good background, and she was afraid she would not be good enough for him, so she spent her four years in university trying to learn design, take foreign languages, learn all kinds of etiquette, and accompany him to practice taekwondo…
However, the two who once said they would never part for a lifetime were scattered in the blink of an eye.
Vanessa looked up at the sky to keep her tears from flowing down.
She said to herself, “Vanessa, don’t think about it. It’s all over.
“No matter if it was a misunderstanding or disappointment, just move forward and don’t be unwilling.
“Life is much more important. Dad and brother are much more important.
“Besides, you’re married.
“To think of Jackson’s name even once more would be disrespectful to your new husband.”
“William, don’t do this to me.” A female voice suddenly came behind her.
Vanessa thought she had hallucinations. She instinctively turned her head.
She saw William walking out in a suit, and behind him, a graceful curly haired woman carrying a Chanel limited edition bag, chasing after him in high heels.
Suddenly, the woman hugged William’s waist from behind and said, “William, you always knew what I wanted.”
Vanessa was a little surprised.
What did she see?
A beautiful young woman was hugging her new husband right in front of her?
Chapter 12
She suddenly felt that her life was particularly dramatic.
What surprised her was that when she saw Jackson, her emotions fluctuated greatly, to the point of losing control.
But she surprisingly did not feel much when she saw a woman hugging her husband. She was not angry. She was not upset. She was not sad, but she was just a little curious..
“Let go!” William’s voice was cold and deep. Even the air around him was cold.
Vanessa had never seen such a side of William.
She had only known him for three days, and he had been gentle and considerate in those three days, thinking of her in every way.
“No.” The woman pouted her lips.
“Get lost!” William yelled in a low voice.
Even if Vanessa knew little about William, she could see he was angry.
She immediately walked over and said, “William, what are you doing here?”
She greeted William, and as for William telling the woman that she was his friend or wife, it was up to him.
“Honey!” William shouted.
