Chapter 13
Upon hearing the address “Honey,” Vanessa understood what William meant.
She immediately cooperated by sinking her face and questioning “What are you doing?”
Upon hearing the address, “Honey, Tracy’s brows furrowed, and her eyes glanced at Vanessa unkindly, letting go of William.
Vanessa turned away with an angry look.
“Honey!” William shouted again, catching up.
“William…” Tracy watched William leave with great reluctance.
William then stopped in his tracks.
Tracy’s heart burst with joy.
She knew it. There was no way William would leave her..
He had loved her for six years, and during those six years, he had doted on her with single–minded devotion, without even a female assistant by his side.
As a result, the next moment, Tracy saw William take off his suit directly and throw it into the nearby trash can without hesitation.
“William Hawk!“Tracy was so angry that she stomped her feet and shouted William’s full name through her teeth gritting.
He actually humiliated her like that. How could he bear to hurt her like that?
William left the club in his shirt without looking back.
Vanessa waited for William on the roadside.
She was a little surprised to see William wearing only his shirt. “Where is your suit?”
“Another woman touched it. It got dirty, and I threw it away,” William said.
Vanessa gave William a complicated look in her eyes.
Thinking that Vanessa wanted to ask him about his relationship with Tracy, William reached over and naturally took Vanessa’s hand and said, *She’s my ex–girlfriend.”
“That’s okay. You don’t have to explain,” Vanessa said immediately.
Who did not have a past?
William then held Vanessa’s hand and walked forward, passing the floor–to–ceiling windows of Coain Cafe, while he said, “I’m 28 years old, and when the year I met her, I was 22. I fell in love with her at first sight.”
Vanessa listened with a bit of sadness in her heart.
Because she thought of what Jackson said when he confessed to her back then, he said he liked her at first sight when he saw her.
Was it true that one would end up saying goodbye to the person one fell in love with at first sight?
William continued, “The first time I met her, she smiled at me, and I really thought that smile was sweet and charming. Later, we became a couple smoothly. I tried to fit into her circle and pay attention to her preferences, and I also brought her into my circle.
“She liked the way I worked. I worked hard. She didn’t like my friends, and I respected her.
“She had many advantages. She was beautiful, had a good figure, and a charming smile. She loved reading, had good taste, and a sense of humor. She could also act coquettishly, understand current affairs, manage finances, and have all the advantages other girls have. She also had advantages that other girls didn’t have.
“She also had flaws. She was not willing to deal with people who were inferior to her. She thought it was a waste of time.
“There’s nothing wrong with that. Life isn’t long, and there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to waste time on people you don’t like.
“We broke up because she wanted to pursue her dreams, and I wanted to get married.”
Vanessa felt sorry for them. “You could have dreams and marriage at the same time, right?“.
“Yes, we could have both. But not when it comes to me and her,” William said.
“Why?”
“I said that I would support all her dreams after registering the marriage. After marriage, everything would be free for her, and she could do whatever she wanted. But she said that if we went to register the marriage, she would have to change her fight for the next day, and she would not be well rested, which would affect the outcome of her match.” William looked sideways at Vanessa and smiled bitterly.

“Why?”
“I said that I would support all her dreams after registering the marriage. After marriage, everything would be free for her, and she could do whatever she wanted. But she said that if we went to register the marriage, she would have to change her flight for the next day, and she would not be well rested, which would affect the outcome of her match. William looked sideways at Vanessa and smiled bitterly.
Vanessa was silent. She did not even know how to comfort William.
There was no way she could say against her will that maybe Tracy was afraid of affecting the outcome of the match because it was so obvious that Tracy just did not want to register her marriage with him.
William said. “There was a time when I was devoted to her, but it was all over the moment we broke up. Don’t worry. I will be faithful to our marriage and be single–minded to you. I didn’t lie to you today. I did have a client appointment at noon. She and I just met by coincidence.”
“You don’t have to explain.”
“I should explain. I’m a married man now. I should report everything to my wife,” William said.
Vanessa listened with an inner touch.
His situation was really similar to hers..
His thoughts also coincided with hers.
Her thoughts were the same. Everything between them was all over the moment she and Jackson broke up.
Even if it hurt, she had to move on.
She looked at William and said, “I’ll report my schedule to you from now on as well.”
William curled the corner of his lips and reached out to touch Vanessa’s head. “Mmm.”
A sudden gust of wind came, and Vanessa felt cold even with her coat on.
She looked at William’s shirt and asked, “Is it cold?”
With that, she was ready to take her sweater coat off.
Seeing her taking off her coat, William asked with a smile. “What are you doing?”
Vanessa said, “This sweater is unisex, and it’s quite big. You can drape it over your shoulders.
The sweater must be a bit small for William to put on, but it was not a problem for him to drape it over his shoulders.
The smile at the corner of William’s lips was bigger as he reached out to stop her. “You’ll be freezing if I wear it.”
“I have a thicker undershirt. I’m not cold,” Vanessa said.
They had only known each other for three days, but he had greatly helped her.
William reached out and touched her head. “We have registered for marriage, but you don’t know where I live yet. I live in Lilyville right ahead. I’ll take you home now. I’ll get my coat, and then we’ll go to the hospital.”
“Okay,” Vanessa answered.
She knew Lilyville. It was less than 3300 feet away.
“Let me carry you,” William said..
“No, no. Vanessa immediately waved her hand.
“I’m a little cold. I won’t be cold if I carry you on my back,” William said.
They had only known each other for three days.
Although he did not fall in love with her or have the same feeling as he had for Tracy before, he knew she was a nice girl.
She was grateful, kind, simple, and tough….
After knowing her for only three days, he could conclude that even if he were to go bankrupt one day and become destitute, she would still be by his side.
Because she never gave up on her brother and father, even in the most challenging times.
In her world, relationships were more important than interest.
She and Tracy were people in two different worlds.

“I’ll give you my coat to wear,” Vanessa said.
“Let me carry you.” William insisted.
“I’m so heavy.”
“You’re so skinny. You’re not heavy! Get up here!” William squatted slightly.
Vanessa was a little embarrassed.
“Come on. Or else I’ll be frozen.” William said.
“Okay. Vanessa climbed onto William’s back.
William caught the crook of Vanessa’s legs and shrugged his shoulder to make her upward. Then he walked forward.
Vanessa lay on William’s back, her nose souring.
She remembered a time in her sophomore year when she had a fever. Jackson had carried her on his back all the way to the clinic, asking her with concern along the way, “Vanessa, how are you feeling?”
She reached out, wrapping her arms around William’s neck, hoping that she would not be abandoned this time.
At the Coain Cafe, the scene where William had just led Vanessa past the floor–to–ceiling windows by holding her hand fell into Jackson’s eyes.
Jackson could not help but narrow his eyes.
So much so that he did not hear what Elena said to him at all.
Elena was on the verge of breaking her coffee spoon when she saw that Jackson’s eyes followed Vanessa.
She could only call Jackson’s name. “Jackson, Jackson, are you listening?”
Jackson withdrew his gaze and asked faintly, “Which hospital is Vanessa’s Dad hospitalized in?”
