Chapter 11
The next day, Keith took the team to operate on Danny early in the morning.
They entered the operating room at seven o’clock and came out at half past ten
Afterward, Keith made a special trip to Henry’s ward to tell Henry that Danny’s surgery was successful. A month later, when the cochlear implants were turned on, Danny could hear the outside world, and he could slowly receive language training.
“Thank you… Thank you!” Henry tried to get up.
Keith pressed his shoulder and said, “Mr. Sanchez, you’re welcome. You need to relax and get well. Everything will be fine.”
Traditional medicine’s emphasis was that one should maintain a pleasant mood.
One’s mood was the source of all diseases.
In addition to genetic factors, liver disease had much to do with anxiety.
In Henry’s case, it was likely that his heavy burden at home for many years and his worries about his children’s affairs had led to illness over
time.
If he relaxed his mood from now on, maybe he could live a few more days.
“Okay, okay. I’ll relax.” Henry was excited and happy.
He was eagerly looking forward to living a few more days to see Danny speak.
William had a busy work schedule today, so he left after taking Danny to the operating room.
He returned at ten o’clock, just in time to pick up Danny and take him back to his ward.
“Actually, you don’t have to come.” Seeing William come again, Vanessa was full of gratitude.
“My brother–in–law had such an important surgery. I should have been with you the whole time.” Seeing that a strand of Vanessa’s hair had slipped down, William lifted it behind her ear.
Vanessa’s ears instantly turned red.
Watching Vanessa like this, William slightly curled his lips into a smile and began to report on his schedule. “I’ve got a lot going on today, so I’m coming over to keep you company for a while and to see your Dad and Danny. I can’t have lunch with you. I have to meet a client.”
Vanessa immediately said. “If you have something to do, just go ahead. You don’t have to come all the way over.”
William looked at Vanessa with a smile. “We’re married. I should report to you about my schedule.”
Vanessa’s ears turned red again. She was not quite used to it, but she felt a little sense of safety and even began to look forward to married life. She said, “No need. From now on, if you have something to do, just go ahead and do your own thing. I can take care of myself and the family.”
“Hmm.” William smiled and looked at Vanessa.
Vanessa immediately averted her eyes, and her cheeks burned a little.
After confirming that both her father and brother were stable, Vanessa went to Coain Cafe.
She arrived at 3 PM on time.
This was the highest–end business club in Lantrie City.
Many business people would choose to talk about their business there.
When she entered the club, Vanessa saw Elena sitting by the window. She had taken off her jacket and wore a gray cashmere sweater inside, which showed off her figure, and she was drinking coffee there gracefully.
Seeing Vanessa enter, she rolled her eyes and raised her chin, saying contemptuously, “You don’t want to be a coward this time?”
Vanessa walked over.
Elena rolled her eyes again with disdain. She turned sideways to get her own bag, and after she took out an envelope from it, she said arrogantly. “Here’s a check for 20 thousand dollars…”
Slap…
Vanessa walked over and slapped Elena in the face.
“You!” Elena’s eyes widened in shock.
Vanessa dared to slap her?

“Bitch, how dare you hit me!” Elena was furious. She stood up and grabbed her bag to smash it wildly at Vanessa.
Vanessa reached out and grabbed the bag. She raised her hand and slapped Elena in the face again.
She looked at Elena with cold eyes. “Elena, the slap just now was a punishment for those dirty things you did behind my back three years ago. The slap now was a punishment for the harm you caused to my Dad.”
“What did I do to you? You bitch!” Elena’s voice was shrill.
“Try cursing me more!” Vanessa warned.
“Bitch, bitch… Ouch…”
Vanessa picked up the coffee in front of her and splashed it directly into Elena’s mouth.
The coffee spilled all over Elena and all over her face.
Elena screamed loudly, shaking her clothes from her chest and immediately wiping them with tissues.
Vanessa looked at Elena indifferently. “Do you think I haven’t seen those photos you photoshopped?”
Elena’s eyes twinkled with guilt, but she raised her chin to deny it. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Vanessa, you slapped me and splashed coffee on me. You have to let me hit you back. Or else I’ll cause trouble for your whole family.”
“How much more trouble do you want to cause? Elena, I came here today to tell you I have nothing to care about, anyway. You can do whatever you want. No matter what tricks you play, I’ll play with you to the end. If I frown at your trick, I’ll accept you calling me a coward.
“If you do anything to hurt my Dad or my brother again, I’ll tell the world about the matters between you and Keen Darcy.”
Elena rolled her eyes again. “Are you imagining things? Keen and I were just normal classmates. The entire school knows it.”
Vanessa came up to Elena’s ear and whispered, “Did you think no one really saw it when the night Keen had his accident?”
Elena’s face abruptly turned pale.
Vanessa backed away and warned, “Elena, what is done by night appears by day. If you disturb my life again, I will definitely send you to prison. You think you can be absolutely lawless because you have the connections, right? Elena, if you dare to touch my family, even if I can’t send you to prison, I will definitely make you die and go to hell with me together.”
“You’re just a lunatic.” Elena glared at Vanessa indignantly.
Suddenly, she put away her indignant expression and looked pitiful. Her body staggered back a step violently as she reached out to cover her
face.
When Vanessa saw Elena’s expression, she suddenly realized something, and her back involuntarily stiffened.
She also clenched her fists slightly on her sides.
It seemed like this was the only way she could get a little support strength.
However, her fingertips were still uncontrollably trembling slightly.
It had been a long time since their breakup. How long had it been? Three years, and it was more than a thousand days!
On the day of their breakup, his mother asked her to meet her. His mother took a bunch of photos and threw them in her face, asking her to get
lost.
She ignored the burning pain on her face caused by the hitting of the photos and explained to his mother that it was a misunderstanding and that the images were all fake.
But his mother left after saying a lot of bad words.
How could Vanessa not be aggrieved after being humiliated?
But she did not want to just give up on their years of relationship like this.
So she swallowed all her grievances. After adjusting her emotions, she called him and told him that his mother had come to her, and before she could say anything about the photos, he told her coldly on the phone, “Vanessa, let’s break up. Whether the photos are true or not, it doesn’t
matter.”
At that moment, it was as if an invisible palm crushed her heart.
It shattered into pieces, and there was no way to put it all together again.
So long ago, how could she still remember those things so clearly?
It was as if he said those words to her only yesterday.
Three years had passed, and she thought she had long forgotten what had happened.
But her body was so stiff at this moment that she could not move.
She clenched her fists and admonished herself in her heart, “Vanessa, you have to be strong.
“You have nothing that you can’t face.
“It was Jackson Foster who asked for the breakup, wasn’t it?”
Years of relationship could not be compared with a few malicious photoshopped photos. It was Jackson, who gave up on her, misunderstood her, and hurt her… Wasn’t it?
Elena’s voice sounded out coquettishly. “Jackson… Vanessa may have some misunderstanding about me.”
