Black Sun Academy: Vampire Hunter Book 3

Chapter 15

CHAPTER 15

As I begin to share the very small amount of information that was offered to me by Joey, I notice my friends slowly start to trickle into the kitchen to hear what I have to say. “From what little was shared with me via Joey, it sounds like Cal is power hungry and literally just wants to take over the world. Apparently, if he can absorb my magic, he will become the ultimate super being and there will be no way to end him.” Everyone begins to whisper or mumble their opinions about that before Nic speaks up.

“We do have some good news to share with you Ali. During your kidnapping, the Silver Heart Coven were able to find some written documentation on Cal’s first run on this earth.”

My eyes go wide with shock. “Really? Where? How?” I knew I was babbling but I cannot stop because I am so ecstatic to hear this. “This is simply amazing! Do tell.” I exclaim excitedly.

Ella jumps in; “Dominic and Devon’s parents called and told us that they found some journals that a Crone left behind about how they dealt with Cal, centuries ago.”

“The keeper of the journals, a Hyacinth Balfour and five other Elder Crones; a Prudence Weir, Jacinda Horne, Mildred Sampor and a set of twins, Maggie and Grace Paisley from the surrounding covens near the Isle of Lewis all decided to travel to the Callanish Standing Stones where they knew they would be able to use a spell which would be able to destroy Cal.” Devon added.

I gasp at hearing Grace and Maggie’s names. Could it be possible that this set of twins was the same set that helped me during my time spent in the spirit realm? It would make a lot of sense, since having witnessed how they tried very hard to keep an eye on Cal’s whereabouts at all times. “So, did they specify how we can defeat him?” I ask as I look around the room. I note that the entire group seem to sigh collectively together.

Raising an eyebrow, my gaze falls upon Dom’s; “what’s wrong?”

“Well those Crones had sacred stones to work with whereas we have nothing of such nature to help us destroy him. Not to add to that dilemma, but on top of all of this, we have twenty-four hours to accomplish all of this because if he is unable to obtain your powers by midnight tomorrow night, he will go underground and hide out for an entire year!”

As Dom finished saying this bit of shocking news, I hear someone clear their throat and look around our group to see who had done it. Rifqa looks as though she wants to speak up but at the same time looks as though she is trying to decide as to whether she should or not. I decide I will help her with the decision; “Rif, what’s on your mind?”

I watch as a blush creeps across her cheeks at me having drawn attention her way, however, she shrugs it off and decides to speak anyway. “I was looking up a bunch of different things on the internet last night when I couldn’t sleep, and I came across something that I thought might be some useful information to our current predicament.” She looks at everyone for a second before continuing; “I know we are all a little worried about the lack of magical stones, but I think we have something that will be even more helpful than that.”

Everyone began to talk at once wanting to know what Rifqa could possibly know that the rest of them did not. Rifqa squirms a little at having all eyes on her but manages to take a breath and share the information she had found.

“We are all very accustom to the term soul mate, but I have come across a different term that seems a little more fitting to what we all have been experiencing. And if any of you are wondering why I would look this up, well, it’s because I’m pretty sure Chris and I are soul mates. Not that we have had much chance to explore this, but everything that I have read indicates as such, however, I digress. Have any of you heard of the term ‘twin flame’?” Rifqa stops to look at everyone who in turn were all shaking their heads no.

Nodding her head to confirm her thought, Rifqa continued; “well, a twin flame relationship is a divine union with a divine purpose. Twin flames, known as twin souls, are literally the other half of your soul. We only have one twin soul, in the entire world. There are magnetic pulls between the two souls that keep them together once they have appeared in each other’s lives. When they finally come together, the relationship is very, very intense.”

“And how, might I ask, is this supposed to help us defeat Cal?” Jessica chimed in as Rifqa finished speaking.

“So if we have all united with our twin flame, our souls have become one whole… Making each pair of us stronger than any other witches to have come before us.” Before anyone can question her, she holds her hand up to keep everyone silent. “I know some of us are not witches, but because our twin flame is, our essence only makes the bond and their magic, stronger.”

Dawning realization floods everyone as we realize what Rif is essentially saying. “We don’t need magical stones,” I shout giddily. “Because we are twice as strong as the stones and the Crones ever were!”

Ella shrieks her excitement before turning to Rifqa and wrapping her in a bear hug. “So what are we waiting for then? Let’s get to the cemetery and kick Cal’s ASS!” She asked as she stepped away from Rif and bouncing jubilantly on her feet.

Everybody began to leave the kitchen but before I could exit myself, I felt a tug on my hand. Looking down I see that someone has indeed grabbed my hand. Glancing up to the owner of said hand, I tilt my head curiously; “are you okay Dominic?” He simply nods before leaning into me and kissing me firmly on the lips causing me to giggle as I step back from him and ask; “what was that for?”

Shrugging his shoulders, he replies, “not that you need it, but I thought I’d give you a kiss for luck.” Grinning back at him I lean in to give him one as well, when I hear someone clear their throat behind us. Blushing because I know who is standing behind us without even turning around, I look to see dad staring at us with an arched eyebrow.

“Are you two coming or not?” With heads held low, but smiling just the same, Dom and I follow my father outside.

Just beyond the clearing of dense forest lies an abandoned cemetery and the only sacred, holy ground for miles around. Collectively, this has been determined to be the only option we have in terms of magical “stones” and we can only hope that it will do for the earthly aspect we need to imbue our spell in which we will cast. I feel confident that with our new found powers which lie within each soul mate that gathers together, that as one united front, our powers are exponentially more powerful than what the Crones had available and Cal’s demise will once and for all be exterminated from the universe.

“Once the fire is lit, we will have to move ever so quickly. Everyone remember what must be done?” I look around to all my friends. Dominic has taken my hand in his, locking our fingers together, he gives my hand an encouraging squeeze. My eyes fall upon each one of my circle mates.

My gaze lands on my best friend first. Ella is standing confident and seems taller than her 5’4 height because of her self-assurance. Her hand is entwined with Devon’s who is standing next to her, towering over her by a good seven inches and I see the power of their bond wrapped around them, a wave of green and white light rolling off of them before swirling outward. My eyes sweep across the rest of the group in a clockwise motion, Raegan and Riley, Jess and Vince, and last but not least, our newest soul bonders, Chris and Rifqa.

We haven’t even begun to chant our spell; haven’t yet taken each other’s hands and I can already feel the magic from within us wanting to spill forth.

“No hesitation! Cal will do everything within his power to break these bindings and escape the circle. Leave the army to the Black Sun Academy witches and fighters. We are the only ones able to finish him off once and for all.” Everyone nods their heads, understanding exactly what I am trying to convey to them all. There is absolutely no room for error. Once he steps inside the circle we will have to act quickly and without hesitation.
