Beta Mates

She looked into his eyes and caught her breath. She was starting to feel something beside the mate pull for this man. She caught sight of him working with his warriors this morning and he was strong and patient and highly skilled at his job. She respected his skill as he sparred with his warriors. He knew a lot but still took an avid interest in her training. Anything that would make him and his warriors better was welcome knowledge. “Well its getting late so we had better get back and get some sleep.” she said. “It will be another long day again tomorrow” he agreed. “Can I stay with you again tonight?” he asked. “You’d better or I will never get any sleep” she replied laughingly. “Seriously you don’t have to ask.” “Good” he said. “Would you mind if I move some stuff over so it will save me walking down the hall naked in the morning” he asked. “Sure” she laughed. “Its not funny that’s a cold walk still damp and naked” he grinned. She shook her head not bothering to tell him he could have wrapped in a towel.

They chatted amicably on the ride back to the pack house. When they arrived they went upstairs and Adam stopped at her door. “I will be back soon, I want to grab my clothes and shower gear.” Kara acknowledged him with a nod and entered the room. She stripped down and put on her nightie and entered the bathroom to brush her teeth and finish her routine for the night. She walked out of the bathroom just as Adam walked through the bedroom door. He smiled at her and let his eyes rove down her body. He was too tired last night to get a good look. She has gorgeous legs and a sweet figure he thought. He could imagine those legs wrapped around his waist and that hot body under him. He took a deep breath and exhaled, he needed to stop thinking like that or it will be a very long uncomfortable night.

Kara looked at him questioningly and he just shook his head while entering the bathroom. She had caught the gleam in his eyes and wondered to herself if it was such a great idea them sharing a bed. She noticed as the feelings get stronger it is harder and harder to be apart. She decided to think about something else for her sanity’s sake and remembered that her sister will be here in the afternoon. She couldn’t wait to see how Katie reacted to her new mate. She is sure to drool all over the poor man. Katie was always attracted to the tall, dark haired men and with Shane’s vivid blue eyes poor Katie might swallow her tongue at first glance.

Kane walked out of the bathroom and glanced over at Kara, he gasped and grabbed her by the wrist. Whats wrong? She asked. “There are bruises all over the back of your arms. What happened?” “Oh she said “its nothing that is just from training they will be gone in the morning”. He growled lowly and his eyes started to flash golden flakes which she was learning that meant his wolf was close."I don’t like the thought of you getting hurt."

She pulled her wrist from his grasp and looked at him. This was one of the obstacles that concerned her about having a mate. She could take care of herself and didn’t want a protective male to interfere and tell her what she could and couldn’t do. “This is my job and bruising is just a side effect of it. I am okay and don’t need anyone to tell me how to do my job. I’m sure you have had bruising and wounds from training before too.” He half turned away from her and ran his hand through his short hair making it stand up in spikes. “You are right, he said wryly, I’m messed up way worse than that by sparring with Shane.” “I’m sorry I lost it like that it just took me off guard for a moment.”

She walked over and gave him a hug sensing he needed it. “Don’t worry about me tough guy I got this. Besides I gave as good as I got!” She gave him a sassy grin and he didn’t doubt for a minute his strong wonderful lady tore up some of the most powerful warriors in the pack. He kissed her gently and she responded by slightly opening her mouth. His tongue battled with hers and they both moaned and the kiss grew hotter. His hands started roving over her body and she pulled up his shirt and started stroking his hard abs and clenching his back. Things were getting too hot too fast and she pulled away and was gasping for air and rested her head on his chest. He looked down at her and he too was gasping for breath. He wanted her badly but knew she wasn’t ready.
