Beta Mates

They finally broke training late in the afternoon for a meal and well deserved break. Kara blew out a breath and pulled up her ponytail trying to catch the breeze and cool off a little after a busy and vigorous day. She was all sweaty and ready for a shower and a meal. She grabbed a towel from the duffle bag she had brought along and checked her phone. There was a missed call from her sister Katie so she mopped the sweat off her brow and neck while she waited for the call to go through. Katie answered at last and let her know that she would be at the pack site tomorrow early afternoon. They caught up on the daily gossip and hung up both eagerly awaiting to be reunited. She also got reminded that she didn’t provide a picture of their mates so she groaned and started hunting for Adam and Shane.

She found Adam and Shane talking to a group of warriors that were heading towards the kitchen. She explained that she needed a picture to send to Katie and they were happy to smile and pose for the shot. She took the picture and sent it with an explanation of which one was which. She said goodbye to the men and went to the pack house to shower and dress for a meal. After her shower she checked her phone and saw a message from her sister. It said WOW with a happy face emoji. She chuckled and shook her head.

She headed to the kitchen and gratefully grabbed a plate of food. She sat down in the dining room and started eating a huge steak. She laughed to herself, her wolf preferred her meat raw but the human side had to have hers well done. Mia sneered at her. She had been pretty quiet today since she got away with having her mate close last night. When her meal was finished she took her plate to the kitchen and helped with the cleanup again. She was certainly making friends in the kitchen. She found Shane and let him know his mate would be in around two in the afternoon the next day. “Good”, he grunted, his mind was on the paperwork he had in front of him.

Adam walked up to her from the kitchen and asked her if she wanted to go see a movie. “I guess we need to start dating, no better time than the present.” he side. “Just let me change clothes and we can go” she replied. She went to her room and changed into a pair of snug jeans and a blouse that followed her curves. She met Adam in the foyer and they left in his Mustang. Adam looked over at her and smiled "You look gorgeous." privately thinking he was going to have a hard time keeping his hands to himself. They went to a town about twenty miles out that had a theater and chose to watch a comedy. They laughed through the movie and took a walk around town and talked about their lives and likes and dislikes until they stopped at an ice cream parlor. They were eating ice cream and laughing about childhood mishaps on both sides.

“You will hear more tomorrow with Katie around I’m sure” as they laughed about Kara and Kane getting caught in a tree and both too afraid to jump out as kids and getting teased about being cat shifters instead of wolves. “As you can tell my Mom likes names that begin with a “K” she said. “I think it is a beautiful name for a beautiful woman” he said softly while tenderly tucking a stray curl behind her ear.
