Chapter Benson 299
Chapter 299: The Confrontation
Yvonne nodded and continued eating her breakfast. Although she still felt nauseous, she gritted her teeth and slowly finished the food. She didn’t want to appear too weak, especially not in front of Jeremy.
She knew he had already done so much for her, and the least she could do was try to get better so that he wouldn’t have to worry about her anymore.
After breakfast, Yvonne prepared to go for a check–up. Jeremy wheeled a wheelchair over to her, gesturing for her to sit down.
Feeling a bit uncomfortable, Yvonne shifted slightly and said, “I can walk on my own. Isn’t this a bit much?”
Jeremy lowered his head, a serious tone in his voice as he asked, Is there something you need to tell me?”
Yvonne shook her head and smiled slightly, “I just wanted to express my gratitude. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what I would have done.”
Jeremy shrugged and smiled, “That’s easy enough. Just treat me to a meal, Miss Yvonne.”
His tone was lighthearted, but Yvonne knew he was trying to make her relax and not feel guilty about the scare she had given them the day before.
After the check–up, they returned to the hospital room.
Yvonne leaned against the headboard, looking much more at ease. “Jeremy, thank you for everything. You’ve made me feel better and helped me avoid sinking into despair.”
”
Her voice was soft, but the gratitude in it was genuine.
She knew that if she had lost the baby last night, she would have been consumed by quilt and sorrow. It was Jeremy’s support that had pulled her through.
Jeremy smiled faintly, not saying much more.
He knew that some things didn’t need to be said out loud–they both understood each other’s feelings.
But he also knew that this wasn’t the end; they still had many challenges ahead.
Yvonne’s phone and bag were left at the hotel, and she felt a bit embarrassed looking at Jeremy, unsure how to ask him to retrieve them.
After hesitating for a moment, she decided not to bother him. After all, her stay in the hospital wouldn’t be long, and she could get them after being discharged.
So, she picked up Jeremy’s phone and called Megan, briefly explaining the situation.
The two days in the hospital passed quickly, and Yvonne finished her last IV drip.
The afternoon sunlight slanted through the hospital room’s
curtains, adding a touch of warmth to the room.
After a final check–up, the doctor confirmed that she was fine and
allowed her to be discharged.
However, he still cautioned, “You need to rest and avoid
overexertion. Make sure to take good care of yourself, especially during the early stages of pregnancy.”
Aww stood hearty, stening carefully to every word the doctor

The decharge procedures were completed quickly, and as they left the hospital Jeremy had already arranged everything.
When the car pulled up at the hospital entrance, he walked over to Yvonne and, without giving her a chance to refuse, scooped her up
in his arms.
Yvonne was startled by the sudden movement, instinctively
wrapping her arms around his neck.
Looking up at him, she said awkwardly, “You don’t have to do this; I
can walk.”
But Jeremy was firm and gentle, “No, you’re now the one we need to protect. The doctor said you should lie down as much as possible.”
His tone was serious, but there was a playful glint in his eyes.
Looking down at her, he smiled slightly, “It’s also my honor. I’m happy to carry you like this.”
“Although I hope I won’t have to do this again, I must admit I enjoy

Yvonne felt a warm flush spread through her at his words, but she quickly coughed to cover her embarrassment, not knowing how to
respond.

She knew Jeremy was taking care of her, but his straightforwardness left her a bit flustered.
On the way back to the hotel, Jeremy held her carefully, as if she were a fragile piece of porcelain, taking every precaution not to jostle her.
Though Yvonne felt a bit uncomfortable, she also appreciated his attentiveness and care!
There was a subtle and warm understanding between them, a
silent agreement to maintain the delicate balance of their relationship.
However, when the car arrived at the hotel, Yvonne’s gaze was suddenly drawn to a familiar figure.
She saw Benson standing at the entrance, his expression dark and brooding, as if he had been waiting for a long time.
In that moment, a complicated mix of emotions surged in her heart -there was a twinge of guilt, and a hint of helplessness.
Jeremy, still holding Yvonne, walked out of the car. They were laughing and talking, looking unusually close.
He didn’t notice Benson’s presence until they were nearly at the hotel entrance, when he suddenly felt Benson’s icy gaze on them.
Jeremy’s steps faltered, and as his eyes met Benson’s, he felt a strong wave of hostility.
Benson’s face was as hard as stone, his eyes burning with barely suppressed anger.
He glanced coldly at Jeremy before turning his gaze to Yvonne.
Her hand rested lightly on Jeremy’s shoulder, and she leaned
against him, still as beautiful as ever.
But her lips were pressed into a tight line, and there wasn’t a trace of happiness on her face when she saw Benson.
Jeremy’s heart tightened. He instinctively wanted to avoid Benson and head straight into the hotel.
However, Benson’s defiance suddenly flared up. He stood in their path, as if ready to forcibly pull Yvonne irom Jeremy’s arms.
His gaze was sharp and intimidating, locking onto Yvonne with an intensity that demanded her attention.
Jeremy rarely showed his emotions, but now his brow furrowed, and anger flickered across his face.
He didn’t want to argue with Benson, but he wasn’t willing to back down either. His voice was low and firm, “Move.”
But Benson had no intention of stepping aside. His gaze remained fixed on Yvonne, his voice as cold as ice, “Let her go.”
Yvonne could feel the tension between them, and her heart sank.
She knew that if this continued, the situation would only get worse.
Taking a deep breath, she spoke softly to Jeremy, “Put me down.”
Her voice was calm but resolute.
Jeremy looked at her, concern filling his eyes, but he chose to respect her decision.
He carefully set her down, still keeping close to her protectively.
His eyes stayed on Benson, ready to respond to any provocation.
Once Yvonne was steady on her feet, she looked up at Jeremy and gave him a small, bittersweet smile, but it was full of strength.
She understood that if the child was truly so fragile, then perhaps it wasn’t meant to be.
But no matter what, she didn’t want the two men to clash because of her.
She didn’t spare Benson another glance, gently pushing Jeremy towards the hotel.
