Chapter Benson 300
Chapter 300: Barriers and Abyss
Benson suddenly reached out and tightly grabbed Yvonne’s wrist. In that instant, the air seemed to freeze and Yvonne’s heartbeat quickened.
Her gaze turned icy, and without hesitation, she forcefully yanked her wrist free from his grasp.
She didn’t want to be entangled with him anymore, especially at
such a sensitive moment.
Yvonne’s movements were swift and decisive, as if she had rehearsed this scenario countless times in her mind.
Her face was pale–she had just been discharged from the hospital and hadn’t fully recovered. The sudden confrontation left her
feeling even more unwell.
Benson stood there, his hand hanging in the air, a complex emotion flashing through his eyes.
He hadn’t grabbed her forcefully, nor had he expected Yvonne to pull away so resolutely.
His gaze followed her as she moved back to Jeremy’s side, leaning on him as they walked into the hotel.
Yvonne’s heart was filled with conflict and unease, feelings that
-intensified whenever she faced Benson.
If it weren’t for the child, she wouldn’t have any reason to interact with him anymore.
After all, when she needed support the most, Benson had suggested she give up the baby.
And now, here he was, waiting for her to explain or respond, which seemed both absurd and ironic.
Her palms were slightly sweaty, and a dull pain throbbed in her stomach, making her feel lightheaded.
She suddenly remembered that she had rushed to the hospital so quickly that she hadn’t even grabbed her bag.
She had left it at the hotel’s front desk, and her phone had been off for hours due to a dead battery.
Once inside the hotel lobby, Yvonne’s face was still pale, but she tried to remain composed as she checked in.
Jeremy stayed by her side, quietly handling all the paperwork and other necessary tasks.
He kept glancing at her, his eyes filled with deep concern.
When he handed her ID back to her, there was a hint of worry in his voice. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
Yvonne managed a small smile, trying to appear at ease. “I’m fine, really. I don’t feel uncomfortable anymore. You’re just being too cautious–I’m much better now.”
Jeremy didn’t push the issue, though it was clear he didn’t fully believe her.
He took her luggage from her and carefully checked the room key, making sure everything was in order before he was satisfied.
Noticing her exhaustion, he softly said, “You should rest at the hotel. I’ll take care of the matter with the designer.”
Yvonne knew Jeremy meant well, but she still felt uneasy.

She had originally planned to speak with the designer herself about her brother, feeling that it would give her peace of mind.
However, after just getting out of the hospital, her body was still weak, and she couldn’t shake the lingering anxiety and fear.
Not wanting to cause more trouble or make Jeremy worry further, she nodded in agreement.
They entered the elevator together, and as the doors closed, it shut out all the noise from the outside world.
Jeremy stood silently beside her, his gaze filled with gentle
concern.
He knew Yvonne needed rest, so he remained quiet, simply staying by her side.
Meanwhile, Benson was still standing at the hotel entrance, watching as they disappeared into the elevator.
His expression was grim, his face devoid of any emotion.
As they left, his feelings grew even more conflicted.
Slowly, he pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a deep drag.
The smoke swirled in front of him, blurring his vision and masking the pain in his eyes.
Jeremy didn’t linger for long. After settling Yvonne into the hotel room, he quickly headed downstairs to catch a cab to his next
destination.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, he instinctively glanced around the lobby, relaxing slightly when he confirmed that Benson was no longer there.
Chain and stiefs and Alyon
He knew that Yvonne was a smart woman.
He wasn’t worried that Benson would cause her any real trouble.
“Given the situation now, Benson probably won’t even get past the door,” Jeremy muttered to himself a cold smile playing on his lips.
He had always been vigilant in protecting Yvonne.
At the same time, Yvonne lay on the tel bed, trying to calm herself.
She had just been discharged and needed rest–both her body and mind were far from fully recovered.
Benson’s sudden appearance was likely just to see if she had gone through with terminating the pregnancy.
Though the encounter had shaken her momentarily, she managed to maintain her composure.
She plugged her phone into the charger, and after a short while, it powered back on.
She saw a string of missed calls from Benson, all made while she was in the hospital.
She ignored them, feeling a small sense of relief. She didn’t want to deal with the complications of her relationship with Benson right now.
Yvonne called Megan at work, briefly updating her on the situation. Once she confirmed that nothing urgent needed her attention, she felt more at ease.
Putting down the phone, she lay back down on the bed and closed her eyes.

Despite the lingering worries in her mind, her body was too exhausted.
Before long, she drifted off into a hazy sleep.
When Yvonne opened her eyes again, she found that night had fallen, casting the room in darkness.
She reached for her phone and saw a message from Jeremy: “I ordered dinner for you. Eat when you wake up.”
Seeing the message, Yvonne couldn’t help but smile. “How did you know I’d be sleeping?”
Jeremy’s reply came almost instantly: “Not hard to guess. If
there’s nothing to do, of course, you’d sleep.”
Yvonne smiled and responded, “Alright, thank you, Boss Jeremy.”
She didn’t ask if he had found the designer.
At that moment, she preferred to enjoy the brief peace and set
aside all the worries.
After getting up, Yvonne went to the bathroom, splashing cold water on her face to wake herself up a bit.
She then returned to the room, poured herself a glass of water, and sipped it slowly as she waited for dinner to arrive.
Not long after, the doorbell rang, and Yvonne’s heart skipped a
beat as she walked to the door.
Looking through the peephole, she saw that it was indeed the room service, a young female attendant.
Yvonne opened the door, ready to take the tray, but suddenly, a
long, slender hand reached out and firmly grasped the handle of

the tray.
She looked up and saw Benson standing beside the attendant.
The man she had once spent so much time with now felt like a stranger, someone who made her uneasy.
The attendant also sensed the tension, hesitating as she glanced between Yvonne and Benson.
Yvonne’s voice came out cold, “I don’t know him.”
Benson, however, was undeterred, his tone laced with a hint of
mockery, “Don’t you recognize me, dear?”
Yvonne’s face turned frosty, “Benson, we’re divorced.”
The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted them, sighing inwardly. Hadn’t she just indirectly acknowledged their past relationship?
The attendant was clearly caught in an awkward position, unsure of what to do as she stood at the door.
Yvonne sighed, not wanting to make things difficult for someone unrelated to the situation.
Finally, she spoke, “You can go now.”
