Chapter Benson 297
Chapter 297: Anxiety in the Night
Yvonne was deeply touched by his words. She pressed her lips together, a flicker of confusion and unease passing through her
eyes.
Her heart was filled with conflicting emotions. She desperately wanted answers, but she was also worried that this endless
running around might harm the baby’s health.
Jeremy noticed the change in her expression and gently took the bag from her hand, holding it as if it were a precious treasure.
His actions were both tender and firm, guiding her toward the parking lot. “Let’s go to the hotel first and rest. If you really don’t feel well, we can rearrange our plans.”
Yvonne felt Jeremy’s concern. Despite a lingering reluctance, she decided to follow his suggestion.
Jeremy took her bag and almost half–embraced her as they left the
airport.
During the ride, Jeremy remained silent, only occasionally offering words of concern or giving directions to the driver.
Outside, the night deepened, and the city’s neon lights flickered on the car windows, reflecting Yvonne’s inner turmoil.
By the time they reached the hotel, Yvonne felt utterly exhausted.
Her legs felt like they were made of lead, every step requiring extra effort.
She barely managed to make it into the hotel lobby, with Jeremy attentively ensuring she could check in smoothly.
In the hotel room, Yvonne sank into the soft sofa, her body and mind both relaxing from the fatigue,
She took a deep breath, trying to calm the growing anxiety inside her.
However, her abdomen began to throb with sharp, needle–like pains that became increasingly hard to hear,
“Jeremy…” Yvonne’s voice was weak, tinged with urgency and helplessness. “I don’t feel well.”
Jeremy’s heart raced; he knew they couldn’t afford to delay.
They had just arrived at the hotel and hadn’t even completed the check–in process when he hurriedly arranged for a car, personally helping Yvonne to rush to the hospital,
The air was thick with anxiety, Jeremy held Yvonne’s hand tightly, as if trying to pull her back from any potential danger.
Yvonne leaned against Jeremy’s shoulder, feeling the sharp pains in her abdomen, her body instinctively tensing up.
She unconsciously placed a hand on her stomach, filled with conflicting emotions.
This was her first pregnancy, and she wasn’t prepared. The baby had come too suddenly, and she hadn’t even figured out how to face the future.
Yet, as the car sped along, a subtle joy began to grow within her.
It was an indescribable joy, like a warm current washing over her heart, making her feel softer and more vulnerable.
She knew this was a strange and wonderful feeling, the instinct of a mother quietly taking root.
But she hadn’t had time to decide whether she was ready to be a mother, and now she was facing the possibility of losing this child?
The thought filled her with a deep sadness, and tears began to well up in her eyes. But she refused to let them fall, forcing herself to hold them back.
“Jeremy.” Yvonne’s voice was barely audible as she leaned against him, seeking comfort, “I… I’m really scare
Jeremy felt her fear, and it pained him deeply.
He gently stroked her hair, whispering words of comfort. “Yvonne, trust yourself. Don’t be afraid.”
“You’re just tired; your body is protesting. You and the baby will be fine.”
“I know how strong you are, and the baby will be just as strong as you.”
“This pain is just a reminder to take better care of yourself, nothing more.”
Yvonne nodded slightly, but the anxiety remained.
She recalled what Jeremy had told her at the airport, “Don’t do something you’ll regret.”
At this moment, those words echoed in her mind like a warning.
She suddenly realized that if she had decided not to keep the baby, perhaps she would feel more at peace.
But if she lost the baby now due to her negligence, how could she ever forgive herself?
This thought filled her with deep guilt, as if she could already
foresee her future regret.
The car sped through the night, the city lights flashing past the windows and casting shadows on Yvonne’s face.
Her eyes glistened with tears, a mix of sorrow and fear, but she stubbornly held them back.
Jeremy saw the bright yet tear–filled eyes and felt a sharp pain in his heart.
He wished he could take on all her anxiety and pain, but all he could do was hold her hand tightly, offering as much support as possible.
“Jeremy, do you think… the baby will really be okay?”
Yvonne’s voice trembled, and she clung to Jeremy’s sleeve as if it were her only lifeline.
“Yes, I believe you and the baby will be fine,” Jeremy said firmly, his voice gentle.
“Remember, you’re Yvonne. You’ve always been strong, and the baby will be strong too.”
“Now, you just need to relax. Once we get to the hospital, we’ll make sure you get the best care.”
Finally, the car pulled into the hospital entrance, where the
emergency staff was already prepared to receive them.
Yvonne was quickly taken to the examination room, while Jeremy waited anxiously nearby.
Time seemed to stretch infinitely, each second feeling like a century.
After a long wait, the doctor emerged from the examination room,
his expression serious.
He glanced at Jeremy and Yvonne, his tone slightly reproachful.
“You need to be more careful. Early in pregnancy, it’s crucial to
manage stress and get plenty of rest. Overexertion can lead to complications.”
“Even a slight tap on the back can cause a miscarriage, especially in the early stages.”
“You must be cautious, especially you, sir. Don’t let her experience any more scares or stress, understand?”
Jeremy felt a wave of embarrassment. He knew the doctor was right, but he had no defense, so he simply nodded in agreement.
Yvonne also felt embarrassed, knowing she hadn’t taken proper care of herself. She quietly tried to explain, “He’s not…”
The doctor didn’t say anything more, simply advising, “Regardless, her health is the top priority now. We’ll keep her under observation for two days to ensure everything is fine.”
Jeremy immediately went to handle the hospital admission, still full of worry.
He knew Yvonne’s emotions were complicated, but his main focus was ensuring the safety of both her and the baby.
The night had grown late, and the hospital corridors were so quiet that the sound of heartbeats could almost be heard.
Yvonne lay on the hospital bed, her eyes heavy as sleep slowly
overtook her.
She felt as though she was being enveloped by a gentle darkness, and soon she slipped into a deep sleep.
Chapter 297 Anxiety in the Night
Her body had been through so much–traveling, tension, pain–and all those feelings faded away at that moment.
Only exhaustion remained, pulling her into a peaceful slumber.
