Chapter 20
Ares POV
I had heard quite a lot about the supposed "king" of the Orcs, most of which were along the lines of him being extremely ruthless and merciless. Someone who had not a care for anything but power.
I inhaled deeply walking into the room and heard the doors close behind me. I tried not to panic at the extreme darkness that enveloped the room and looked around, trying to make out anything in the room.
"I've heard a lot about you." Said a voice from somewhere behind me causing me to swiftly turn around only to be met with even more darkness.
"I could say the same about you." I replied, my eyes darting to every corner in the room, trying to catch even a glimpse of the source of that voice only to be met with the same darkness everywhere I looked.
"Well it seems we both know a little about a thing called rumors." He replied and out of nowhere, appeared in front of me causing me to internally gasp as I made eye contact with him.
I refused to break my eye contact with him choosing to believe that it made me appear a tad bit stronger than I actually was and although I was internally panicked at what he could and might do to me, there was absolutely no way I was going to let him see that. For I knew the likes of him were always on the look out for any type of weakness he could exploit.
"It's only a rumor if it isn't true." I replied and watched the side of his mouth curve, almost as if he wanted to smile.
"You're indeed something." He replied and walked towards something that looked like some sort of throne and sat down on it.
How much of an egotistical asshole was he to have a throne in his room?
All the while, my gaze hadn't left him even for a second. He planted his elbow against the armrest of the throne like chair and placed the palm of his hand beneath his chin, looking at me as if he found something interesting to look at.
"According to my understanding, you are one of the very few born with godly powers, powers the likes of which had never been seen before, expelled at the time of your birth. In addition to that, you have some sort of heavy destiny hanging above your head?" He asked and although it was meant to come across as a question, it sounded much more like a statement.
"Precisely." I replied and watched him narrow his eyes at me.
"Now, that is what I find difficult to believe." He answered.
I raised my eyebrow at him, genuinely not understanding where he was going with this when he leaned forward, placing his elbows against his knees and gazed into my eyes.
"You've been here for about two months and in those two months, you've done nothing in attempt to free yourself, and according to my report, on the night of your capture, you fought back with your brute strength and neither did you use your supposed powers when Kronar attacked you, which led me to believe that it was either all false myths made up in order to force everyone into submission to you thinking you're some god, or you just don't know how to control those powers." He said, making me stiffen at his choice of words that were so accurate.
"Judging from your reaction, I would say the latter is your problem." He added.
By now I was completely at a loss for words. Taken aback at how he was able to put that together in just two months when people within my very kingdom had no idea that their supposed prince was completely clueless on how to wield and exert the power meant to do great things, trusted within him.
"The sole reason I took you was to use that power. With you we would truly be unstoppable." He said and got up, walking towards the massive window and stood in front of it.
"I have never paid any heed and mind to myths and legends. Even destinies. They don't define who we are and who we will become. We make our own destinies and carve our own futures out. That is how I have gotten to where I am now." He added, turning around and facing me.
"Yours doesn't matter to me. What you were born to do doesn't matter either. You're going to show us what exactly what it is that you can do." He said causing me to scoff.
"In case you missed something, I cannot exactly do anything." I replied, causing him to smirk as he took in my appearance.
"I see you've taken to wearing my son's clothing." He said and I suddenly felt the rush of heat towards my cheeks and I could only hope that he couldn't see it through all the darkness enveloping the room.
"I'll have some clothes made for you." He added, causing me to clear my throat and nod.
"About your powers, I have someone I want to train you. If there is anyone who can extract that powers from you, he can." He said making me raise my eyebrow at him.
I've been with the hybrid since I got here and nothing has happened. What makes him think it'll work..
I turned my head and when I heard the door open and the sounds of heavy boots thumping against the stoned floor, my gaze looking in the direction of the sound only for it to widen when I saw who had entered the room.
"Kronar" I whispered and watched him smirk back at me as he ran his long slimy tongue against his bottom lip.
"Cute. He remembered my name." He replied and turned to look at his father who just looked back at him with a bored expression.
"Keep your head on track. You're to use whatever method you think will awaken his powers. Nothing more and nothing less understood?" He asked Kronar who nodded and looked back at me.
"If you behave, we might even pick up where we left off." He added making me feel like I had to throw up.
"One more thing-" Kronar added turning to face his father. His expression suddenly changing from the playful he one he wore earlier, to a more infuriated one.
"You have to make the Hybrid back off. Teach him a lesson, lately he's parading around like he's some type of fucking prince. " he said and scoffed.
"I will. You do your job leave everything else to me." He said making Kronar nod and turn to smile his sickly nauseating smile.
"We're going to have so much of fun."
