Chapter 12
Hybrid POV
I had always been stuck with the shit part of every mission and job, and while I didn't particularly complain about it, that didn't mean that I was always delighted to do the shit work.
I mean, what was wrong with every other solider in our ranks? Why did I have to take out almost fifty soldiers all by myself.
Because I was expandable.
I was a stranger among them, someone who they never ever acknowledged as one of their own. They didn't give a shit whether I lived or died, as long as they got what they wanted and got to use my strategic abilities and input whenever it suited them. I snorted as I remembered that earlier encounter.
Flashback to a few hours ago..
"That is where you come in." He added and smirked at me.
"I'm not sure I quite understand you. You want me to go in and get the Prince?" I asked with my eyebrow raised.
"Oh no. Quite far from that actually." He said as he lowered his hands and placed them on the desk, making me me follow his hand movements and watched as he pulled out a new map.
"The prince's chambers are located on the west side of the castle. And is guarded by approximately thirty guards at all times." He said as I narrowed my eyes and looked at the map, the gears in my head turning as I thought the plan through.
"But that's not the main problem. The king had placed several guards along the hallways that lead up to the prince's chamber. At this point, the quickest way in, is through the main window located in that very hallway. You'll have to be quick and take out the guards before they have any time to react. I trust that you'll come up with your own way, as long as the job gets done." He said and looked up to face me.
"And the Prince?" I asked and watched him smirk.
"Leave that to your brother. We both know he's not one for the hand to hand combat." He answered, making me snort.
"Is that your way of saying that you'd rather he be safe where you know he's most likely to not get his ass kicked?" I asked with a raised eyebrow and watched his eyes gleam for a second, a sign that he was majorly pissed.
"That is the second time you've crossed the line with me today boy" he answered to which I shrugged.
"Oh well. Is that all I have to do?" I asked and crossed my arms over my broad chest.
"For now." Was his answer before I was dismissed with no further information.
Flashback ended..
I shook my head as I sat on the roof of the castle and watched the encounter through the window of the room across me. I watched with a smirk on my face as he brought the huge orc over his head and toppled him onto the floor.
He was so tiny, and yet, so feisty.
I sat back and watched as the potion was slowly taking effect on him, which was quite a surprise to me. Usually it knocked an orc right out, and yet despite that, he seemed to still have the will to fight back which I found extremely admirable. It was almost like he was taking no body's shit, until I saw the potion finally overtake his willpower as he collapsed. I watched as they carried him out, for my task was to make sure they made it out alive.
"Is that him?" I asked as I watched them tie him to one of the wooden beams in the wagon while he remained unconscious.
"Of course assface. Did you take the guards out properly?" My brother Kronar replied.
"Do you honestly think I would be standing here, talking to you casually if I hadn't?" I replied with a raised eyebrow.
I resisted the urge to smile when I saw anger flash across his black eyes as he stared at me. He took a step closer to me and gripped my jaw so hard, I was surprised he didn't broken my jaw bone, and pulled my face closer to his so much so his nose touched mine.
"Don't get cocky with me you bastard. I will break every bone in your body, understood." He asked and for a brief second, I watched his gaze travel down to my lips, before he looked away and stared back at me.
I nodded simply because I knew that's what he wanted to hear. When in reality, we both knew that when it came down to breaking bones, I was definitely the stronger one between us which is why tonight, I had the task of taking out the guards while he had to get the prince and as much proud jackass our father was, he would never admit he did that to protect him.
He released my jaw and shoved me back with a growl as he walked towards his horse and hopped on. He grabbed the reigns and turned to me.
"Quit fucking around . We need to leave now before someone realizes he's gone then we'll be in shit." He said and galloped away.
I sighed as I turned and looked at the wagon holding our 'hostage' whom our father still hadn't told us what he planned on doing with him and given his past violent nature, I knew that it wouldn't be anything good.
I knelt down and looked at the prince as his he leaned down due to his unconscious state and watched as his chest rose and fell with his silent breaths. I watched his muscles still tensed even as he was tied against a beam. It was almost like his body still refused to give up the fight even if he's conscious was not there and for some reason that made me want to smile.
I placed my index finger beneath his chin and gently lifted his head up, the curiosity of wanting to know what his face looked like taking over me, and I swear I felt myself gasp at the sight of him.
It felt like beautiful was such an inadequate word to describe him. Not even perfection seemed like the right word and to be honest, I was completely at a loss for words.
His face itself was unlike any I had ever seen before. Delicate and yet fierce and stern at the same. A face so pale and perfect, there wasn't a single fault to it.
He didn't have a single scar on him.
I allowed my gaze to trail over him, starting at his thick beautiful locks of hair, such a vibrant shade of white, that I found myself for the first time in my life, wanting and craving to feel and touch something that wasn't mine, when I gasped and shot backwards as if I had touched something hot.
The thought I had replaying on my mind as I looked at my hand with a wide eyed gaze...
What did I just feel?
