Azian Prince of Dragons

Chapter 12 — Prince Azian

Abigail's POV

I stood inside the large room near the door as the queen proceeded to enter.

The first thing I noticed was the large bed draped around by curtains, then the silence that followed.

"Azian... Baby" Queen Rebecca eased.

I heard a little groan coming from the large bed. A small figure moving.

"Look who I've brought to see you,"

"No puppies."

I breathed out nervously after hearing his voice. I don't know how to explain this. But his voice.. It was like... It was the voice of a five- or six-year-old like I had earlier expected but it commanded authority, yet gentle and easy. A voice of a god. My magic whispered to me.

"I am not a puppy," Edwin grunted, a scowl on his face.

As soon as Edwin spoke, the prince sat up straight his eyes open with a wide smile on his face.

I held my breath.

At that moment, that was the moment I would treasure forever.

It was priceless.

His smile was priceless.

His face was beautiful. His eyes were mesmerizing. His hair was perfect. I didn't think beauty would ever be defeated. But there was no definition to his godlike physic.

The hairs all over my body stood up as suddenly the windows swung open, and a strong gust of wind blew in.

Queen Rebecca quickly rushed to close the windows and the door. Her hair blowing all over her face. It was now that I was thankful we wore long dresses. She smiled.

"I knew you would be happy, but try to minimize the joy dear, or you'll blow the castle away, you have not been kind to us this past few weeks."

By Erania, it was his power.

The bad weather Ignere had been having since I had arrived, it was all him.

Emma was right.

He was too strong.

No wonder he was sick. All that power in one being... One little being. I shivered as the wind blew even harder. The windows and doors were closed but the wind was coming in.

the wind was coming from him. Edwin and Azian were engulfed in a hug and in that second I knew they loved each other.

Brother for brother.

"Relax Azian, please" Rebecca stressed. I couldn't imagine what sort of weather he brought when throwing a fit.

Azian's little chest rose up and down slower as the wind subsided. I couldn't take my eyes of the little prince. I wondered how a human so perfect could exist.

"Abigail, would you please a get a glass of water for Edwin and Azian?" the Queen asked.

"Abigail?"

I was pulled back into reality, "I-I'm sorry your highness, "I stuttered

Rebecca chuckled, "don't worry, you're not the first to have that reaction. He is a golden dragon. He is different in so many ways, "she began standing next to me as we watched the boys talk like they hadn't seen each other in years. "He is beautiful, I knew that the moment he was born, he isn't like us, he's perfect, maybe too perfect," She sighed, "will you please get some water for the boys?"

I nodded, amazed by her gentleness, gentle but with an air of authority.

"Thank you, down the hallway, take a left, you'll find the kitchen. Greta will help you from there,"

I nodded bowing before I took my leave.

The moment I stepped out of the room I breathed out. I had no idea I had been holding my breath. I touched my heart as it pounded. The very hairs on my skin raised.

So much beauty, too. Much power. Impossible.

I held on to the wall, laying against it for support. Even after what I just saw, what I just felt. Was I going to do this? Was I going to kill Edwin's best person. Queen Rebecca had been so nice. Was I just going to take away her light?

I paused for a second regaining composure. I surely would. I could not be selfish. The fate of the whole world rested on me. I had to do it. I just had to find the right time.

I walked down the hallway, following the queen's instruction, freezing when I heard voice shouting. I walked towards the noises hearing a deep growl that shook me to core.

Then somebody screamed.

I froze.

I peeped into the room and there I saw the king; he was seated on his throne. But wasn't moving. He suddenly stood up and let out another cry as blood gushed out of his side. Then I saw it a spear wedged into his side. From nowhere a man appeared out of thin air dressed in a black coat and hoodie. He pulled it down as suddenly more men speared from thin air in the room.

I gasped when I saw the man. "King Saga of the dragons, I am King Alec. Your reign is officially over you and your pathetic son." he sneered.

King Saga looked up, "How dare you come into my castle!!" he bellowed standing up. His rage building against his eyes so they were literally replaced with fire.

I knew what would happen next. He was going to shift; the room had gotten very hot.

I could see the scales forming on his body. King Alec also looked scared for a second but opened his fists and blew some black dust in Saga's face.

Saga stepped back in shock almost losing balance.

He managed to straighten himself, but I could see exactly what was happening. The scales that had begun appearing on his body were now disappearing. He was slowly losing his energy. "Abigail?" a deep voice bellowed almost causing me a heart attack.

"Are you eavesdropping on the king?" Tar asked his eyes in shock.

I couldn't breathe.

"King... Under... Attack..." I spaced.

His eyes furrowed, then widened rushing into the room. I couldn't pull him back in time as he threw the door open just as King Alec was raising his sword to finally end the King.

All of them stopped. Alec's eyes met mine in disbelief.

I could feel the heat Tar was giving off and I knew he was transforming... In a blink of an eye Alec had super sped to Tar and the black dust was blown in his face.

He fell to the floor.

"Abigail, Edwin, the Queen... Azi-"

Alec kicked him down hard before his gaze fell on me...

Abigail, surprise, surprise," he said slyly.

"Ayeash" I gasped underneath my breath as his sword sliced through me.

I was suddenly in Azian's room. Queen Rebecca stood up in surprise when she saw me.

"Abigail?! How did you suddenly... H-how?" She asked her eyes racing from the closed door to where I was standing which was right beside the bed. Now both Azian and Edwin were looking at me equally shocked.

I got lost in Azian's ocean blue eyes for a minute. I was so close to him. It would be easy for me to just pull him out of Edwin's grip and slit his throat.

Tears filled my eyes as I looked into his beautiful eyes, I felt sadness, he was already sick. His father probably dead.

My aunt's words echoed through my head,

"find the dragon, the dark forest Abigail, protect him."

I shook my head rubbing the tears that were racing down my cheek. He would destroy us all if he was to remain alive.

"Reading and understanding things are two different things my dear"

I still didn't understand what that meant, even now... I felt for my knife clutching its helm in my bag. Just one quick swing would do it.

Suddenly Anna's words rang in my head as clear as if she was beside me.

"I just hope you're doing the right thing... You've never failed even once."

I let go of the knife taking my hand out of the bag.

"Abigail? What's happening?" Rebecca asked. I hadn't realized she was right by me.

I looked at her, my eyes widening. I forgot to tell her.

"Your majesty... The kingdom is under attack, the king and Tar and..." I trailed off "WHAT?!!" She screeched.

I covered her mouth as my magic warned me of the coming footsteps.

"They're here for Azian, they want him dead.. The prophecy. They want him gone"

I could feel the queen shake her face turning pale.

"Mother?" Azian asked his face confused. He was probably too young to understand what kingdom under attack meant. But Edwin seemed to, suddenly standing up and pulling Azian behind him. "My baby..." the queen began...momentarily losing her balance. I held her up as she tried to compose herself.

Azian trying to reach her but being stopped by Edwin.

She looked at me... "How did you get from there to here so quickly?"

"I teleported" I replied in a small voice.

She looked at me...

"Who are you?"

I turned to face her, breathing out, standing straight, "I'm Abigail, the Great Mother Witch. The protector of Riota,"

She paused, her voice almost in a whisper, "Friend or Foe?" her eyes glistening. This was a choice I had to make... Would it be the right one? I heard Anna's echo "you've never failed even once" I touched her scaly arm, "Friend,"

She nodded, "I need you to teleport to the east wing tower of the castle," suddenly going into warrior mode.

I shook my head, "No, I can't, I can only teleport to places I've been before or at least can see, I don't know where the east wing tower is,"

We heard voice murmuring outside.

"Quick!" the queen called in a loud whisper grasping Edwin and Azian's hand. She pulled them to the balcony window with me behind.

.She put their hands in mine. Then pointed out the window.

"See that tower over there?"

I could see it... Just opposite this one. There was a small light barely visible.

"Teleport there. Once you reach the room, there's a dark closet with a lock. Say the magic words, "lorato lekaru". Say it twice. The door will unlock, and you'll find a portal, it will lead you out of the forest. Take them as far away as you can. Then take them to the human world."

I gasped, "What do you mean me? Your highness you can't stay here!"

"I must fight by my husband's side...If I die... Then tis my time" she knelt before the children as I stood there in shock at how brave she was.

"Protect him guardian, never leave his side," she said to Edwin Edwin nodded. His little fists clenched.

Azian didn't say anything but his hands were tightly clenched around his mother's gown. "I love you Azian, I lived, and I will die for you" she whispered in his ear kissing his cheek.

He didn't move or blink his fists just clenched tightly around his mother.

She slowly lifted him up. "Be brave for mother, Azian... Remember I only want you to be happy.... and alive" she stressed the latter.

He threw her hands around her. Not crying at all but comforting her. "I will not lose you," he whispered.

I was shocked to hear those words. Calm and cool.

She nodded putting him down and wiping the tears from her eyes.

She looked up at me "protect them al—"

The door swung open, and my hands intuitively grabbed both Azian's and Edwin.

Rebecca growled as I saw the scales on her body, "Alec in a split second was in front of her, "good night my lady" he sneered as he blew the black smoke in her face and she immediately fell to the floor. Her eyes closed shut. Before I could comprehend what had happened Alec's hand was on my throat.

"Oh Abigail, you are just like your aunt. Small, pathetic and a traitor"

I winced as I felt his hand squeeze harder and harder and harder until the darkness started to take over.

Then suddenly I was dropped to the floor.

I sat there gasping for air my throat dry and my heart pounding like crazy.

I looked up to see a bright white light. I closed my eyes peeking slowly.

It was like Alec was floating in the air along with his other guards and put in ultra-slow motion.

I looked and saw where the light was coming from.

Azian.

Edwin was not in slow motion, but I could feel my joints freeze making tiny movements.

Everything was in slow motion. Then I felt a sharp pain in my body, like someone was trying to rip me apart. I could also feel the castle beginning to shake tremendously like an earthquake.

My eyes ventured back to Azian. I couldn't see his eyes or rather iris. His eyes were white releasing a blinding light. He was facing a guard who had just walked in and was standing inches away from him.

I realized that it was Luke, King Alec's second in command. His arm was outstretched toward Azian, his palm out his lips in a blowing position.

The black power was in his hands, the particles also in ultra-slow motion, so slow it was like everything was on pause. The black dust was almost reaching Azian before it was slowed.

Edwin ran over to Azian, trying to calm him.

Big mistake.

In a second a powerful force burst out of young Azian tossing Edwin over to me so that he went crashing straight through me.

I lay there almost failing to breath, as the impact knocked the air out of me. Edwin lay sprawled over me.

"A-z-i-a-n," I said very slowly and quietly.

The castle shook and painting as well as ornaments crashed to the floor.

"Help me" Azian replied.

I could feel my body stretch as power ripped through me. Azian's voice sounded different. Had he just spoke to me through his mind?

"Azian" I concentrated my thought.

"Help me"

His light filled eyes were now on me.

"Help my mother"

I gasped as another force of pain ripped through me. I glanced at the other slow motioned people.

All of them had looks of pain in their eyes, even King Alec.

I quickly realized what was happening as the castle shook again. We were being ripped apart. Azian's power was just too much for our bodies to handle. We would all be dead in less than two minutes. Everything was being slowed down. Our heart rate, our minds, our blood pressure. We would all soon die.

"Azian remember what your mother said, you have to be brave, stop this,"

"I can't, they'll hurt me,"

"I promise I won't let anyone hurt you, you just have to let go,"

"I'm scared, I can't stop it,"

He was so young, and so fragile, and this power was just too much for a six-year-old.

But only he could save us, I could feel my heart beat slow down with each passing second.

I felt very weak,

"Azian you will kill us all if you don't. Do you want Edwin to suffer?"

I heard a mild sniff as his flickered showing his normal side but only for a second before they came white again.

"They will kill him even if I stop,"

"I will not let them touch him or you, just let go baby, I'm here for you, relax, I'll take care if you, " I eased.

His light filled eyes strayed away from me then back to his mother who still lay on the floor.

"Promise?"

I shut my eyes, knowing this was the ultimate decision I was about to make.

"I give you my word"

"I'm so tired, I just want to... Mm"

He yawned, laying his head on his mother closing his eyes.

Everybody suddenly dropped as the magic disappeared.

I sat up gasping for air as the other guards around me did the same, theirs and my eyes spoke fear as the castle shook again.

Everybody was trying to regain their composure and find out what just happened looking confused and wincing, touching their dead hearts to regulate there nonexistent breathing

But I had not time for that luxury, I was surrounded by enemies. As soon as I gasped for air the first time I grabbed Edwin and rushed over the Azian touching him.

"Ayeash" I whispered; from the corner of my eye, I saw Alex lunging toward me just as I teleported.

I found myself in the east wing tower. Quickly remembering what the queen had told me. The castle shook again as bricks began to fall. The power Azian had shown had shaken the whole castle to its foundation. And it was now falling apart. Its old walls ripping apart.

I looked at the far end of the little room and saw the wardrobe Queen Rebecca had talked about. It was covered in more than a dozen chains and locks, locking it shut.

With both Edwin and Azian in my arms I walked slowly and steadily walked toward it.

A brick fell an inch away from us almost on my head and I felt my heart jump. Both Azian and Edwin were unconscious. Their weight was weighing me down as I walked to the wardrobe NOT to mention I was still recovering myself.

But I needed to get the boys to safety, I always kept my word. I didn't stop to think about what I was doing as the castle shook again tossing me to the floor a few more walls tearing down.

I scrambled to my feet with both weights on me walking like I was drunk.

I was a few feet away from the wardrobe when suddenly half if the room started to break and crumble.

"Lorato lekaru! Lorato Lekaru!" I screeched, hopping for the love of the gods I was in the right room.

Suddenly all the locks began to unlock by themselves twisting around each other. I almost fell again as the ground began to tear from my very feet.

Was I going to make it? My magic was weak at the moment, I couldn't teleport all three of us anywhere.

Suddenly the chains fell to the floor and the wardrobe swung open. It looked like a normal wardrobe.

Was this some kind of trick?

The ground shook again and suddenly broke from beneath me diving the room. I jumped to the other side before it grew wider.

I stared at the wardrobe... Well, it was worth a shot, not like I had any choice.

So, I stepped into the wardrobe.

Immediately it shut closing me inside it.

I heard the chains and licks begin to lock us in. I began to panic hitting the side of the wardrobe. Was this a joke? We were being locked in here.

I began to shout and scream trying to break the door open. Yelling all sorts of spells but we remained locked.

I slumped to the floor with both Azian and Edwin still in my arms. Was this how it would end?

Suddenly I heard the locks unlock and the chains slowly fall.

The door unlocked and I pushed it open slowly. The sunlight hit my face and I could hear the birds chirping.

I stood up with both boys walking out of the wardrobe.

I was back on the hills of Riota.
