Chapter Unknown 28
KASH
__________
Day before trip to the Other Plain...
Things have been pretty quiet since the other when Dad, Wren, Ben and I went to look for Stylo. Kassidy has just left with Anais to go do girly things while I hung back with the guys. When we got in the car, Dad starts talking about a plan.
"Alright, boys, here's what's happening," he starts.
"We're going the abandoned places in twine first. Then we're going to the Pack House and search the grounds for anything that may be of use." We all look at each other.
I flipped my mirror visor down and look into the reflection. My eyes meet Ben's. The deep crimson red swirling with the obsidian green.
What a mesmerizing view.
We drove to a nearby warehouse. It looked pretty run down if you ask me, the windows and the exterior design of the place looked grey, gloomy, and broken.
"We're here. We're gonna get out and search high and low for anything that we could tie to Stylo and the Alpha." Dad orders.
"Kash, you go with Ben and look on the West side of the building. Meanwhile, Wren and I will go look on the East side." I nod my head and do do the two brothers in the backseat.
We all head out and go to our designated sides of searching. I got out first and headed to the far side of the building, leaving Ben behind.
"Wait up!" Ben called out. I slowed my pace and looked back at him.
"Yeah, what's up." I ask.
"Well, we're supposed to be doing this together and you ran out on me." He explained.
"Oh, yeah, sorry 'bout that." I bashfully say while scratching my neck.
"Okay, lets get down to it." Ben smiles.
And that's what we did. Looking every where for and signs of life. It looked lonely, dirty, depressing.
Wren got caught in some floorboards, his foot went through and ended up leaving a hole in the upper floors of the place. We all got hit with at least one board, bring covered with dust and dirt.
"Damnit, Wren!" Dad yelled. He was directly under where Wren was when he broke the floor.
"Sorry!" He looked over the edge with a panicked face. I laughed and ended up getting caught by my Dad's harsh glare.
Shit.
"You have something to say, Son?" He asked growling.
I shook my head with vigor as Wren and Ben had small smirks on their faces see that it was me getting in trouble.
Assholes.
We soon left the warehouse, we drove around to other locations to try to find something remotely close to being connected to Stylo or the Alpha. All we got was sweaty, dirty, and no answers.
We found absolutely nothing. The bext best thing is to try the Pack House.
We went on pack grounds to look around. The Alpha wasn't there, which was a mystery all in itself. But the Beta was, and I'm sure that he'll more than happy to help us.
"I'll go and talk to Ryan, guys." I suggest to the group. We were in the Pack House in the entrance hall. Pack members were running about, and doing whatever their hearts desired.
They never knew what kind of Alpha they had.
"No, why would you need to go talk to him for? We could go together." Ben says, his hands on my shoulders. I held in a shiver from his touch.
I don't think he knows how I feel about him. I mean, we're supposed to be best friends, I just don't want to ruin it.
"Okay," I look behind him to see Wren and Dad.
"What will you two do?" I ask.
"We'll go to the Alpha's home. We should find some answers there. I'll have Wren here to ask Brayden for answers, since she's taken a liking to him." Dad says.
Ben and I nod our heads and walk up the stairs to find Beta Ryan.
As we walk up the wooden staircase, pack members look and gawk at us like we're meat. Well, the girls do at least. I smile and wink in their direction, chuckling as I hear their squeals and giggles.
I look back at Ben and see a slight scowl on his face.
What was that for?
I shake away the thought and continued up the stairs.
"Do you know where the office is?" Ben suddenly asks.
I nod and say, "Yeah, I do, I've been here a couple times. I know my way around since me and Kassidy used to get in trouble all the time." I grimaced at the memories.
Having to see my twin in such pain, it killed me. I felt everything that she felt that fatal day, it was the most excruciating pain I've ever felt in my life. I should've been able to protect her, but that ass wipe used that stupid elixir on me.
"Hey," Ben called out. I look up to meet his eyes. They were slowly turning back into their natural obsidian forest green color.
"What?" I ask.
"You okay? You're overthinking again, you'll hurt your head doing that all the time." He scolds. I chuckled and laughed it off.
"I'm fine, Ben. There's no need to worry about me." I gave him a small smile to try and ease his nerves.
"I don't believe that bullshit. I'm your best friend, Kash. You're gonna have to try harder to convince me that you're fine." He looked genuinely upset and worried about my wellbeing. I don't want him to know the pain our family had to overcome.
"I know, and as best friends we have to tell each other things, but somethings have to stay in the dark." I tell him.
"I'll find out, one day." He whispered as we continued up the stairs and through the hallways.
"Do you really know where you're going, Kash?" Ben asked irritably.
"Of course I know where I'm going. Calm your tits, Ben." I grumbled. He opened his mouth to say something but decided against it.
As we walked through the large halls of the Pack House, Ben started to get fidgety. His fingers tapped on his thighs as he walked. It was really irritating my ears.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
"Ugh!" I turned and grabbed his hands in mine. I pushed him to wall and leaned close, not caring about what it looked like.
"Stop tapping your fucking fingers, we're going to get there in a few minutes. Calm the hell down and be patient." I say in his face.
He inhaled deeply and leaned his head on the wall and tightened my hands around his. A small blush set itself on my cheeks.
Fuck, I forgot how close we are.
"Move, Kash." Ben whispered. He seemed pained about me being so close to him.
I step back a bit and start to pull my hands back, but a hand caught my wrist.
I looked back up at him in confusion.
"What is it?" I ask with furrowed brows.
"I-." He stutters.
"You know what? Never mind, let's just find this Beta and go back to your place." He scoffs.
I rolled my eyes and retracted from him and continued to walk to the office.
I could've easily just mindlinked the Beta and ask where he was, but I just wanted to spend more time with Ben.
A couple minutes later, we arrived in front of a pair of wooden double doors. With the raise of my fist, I knocked three times on the door before receiving a grumble of 'come in'.
I opened the door and stepped in first, Ben trailed in behind me. The Beta looked a mess, his hands in his blonde hair and papers all over the place.
I don't think he knew who we were when we first came in. He was looking for something in those papers, flipping over and reading every detail like his life depended on it.
"Can I ask you some questions, Beta Ryan?" I ask as I take a seat in one of the leather chairs in front of his desk. Ben does the same and eyes the Beta with uncertainty.
His head snaps up from his paperwork and looked at us with a shocked expression.
"What are you guys doing here?" He began and then pointed a finger at me.
"Especially you, Kash, it's dangerous for you to be here, it's absolutely terrible that you're here. Leave now." He stood up and came to my side, but Ben growled and the Beta stepped back.
"Why is it so dangerous for me to be here?" I tilted my head at the friendly Beta.
"Your powers, simple. This entire thing blows way out of proportion to what you and Kassidy think it does." He says, he bag an to pace in front of us, making me nervous.
"How big is this?" Ben asked with the same amount of anxiety that the Beta was showing.
"It's big enough that the gods have to be involved with this." The Beta admits.
"What the hell do you mean the gods? They already had something to do with this in the beginning. Kassidy has her Keeper, Ben and Wren have a Demon as a father and I get power transferred to me from Kassidy when she's weak. And on top of that..." I paused, I don't know if I should tell him this.
"What? What else is happening-?" The Beta get cut off from his questions by Ben.
"Are you gonna run your mouth to your Alpha about this?" He growled.
"N-no! I wouldn't do that! I want to help you guys, I genuinely do. I've seen the type of pain and suffering your family alone had to take. I like you, Kash, I really do and that's why I want to help you. Tell me all you can and I'll tell you what I already have." He bargains.
I look over at Ben and receive a confirmation nod.
"Okay, this is what we have," I began.
"As we all know, Kassidy died on her eighteenth birthday on a road trip with the girls. Two wolves and a Coven witch. She died because a glass shard was lodged into her chest and abdomen area. She could have survived if it weren't for something holding down the glass with magic. Anais and Jordan were the ones trying to take the glass out of her, but Anais' magic was overwhelmed by an even powerful magic user." I pause and made sure he understood what was happening.
"I know for a fact that the magic user is Stylo." Beta Ryan stated. I knew he had a part in that too. I was looking through Kassidy's eyes as she was experiencing this. It's a trick I learned to do when we were younger whenever she got in trouble.
"So what else do you know?" Ben asked.
The Beta ran a hand through his
short blonde locks and sighed.
"I know that Stylo used to be apart of the Coven that's tied with our pack. He was here when I was a kid, he helped out a lot and was nice." The Beta shook his head at the thought of what used to be.
"He was a good looking guy too, a lot of the unmated females wanted to be with the magic user, but he declined. He always said that there was someone waiting for him." He looked at me.
"I think he meant Kassidy."
I don't know how to respond to that.
Why would the older man wait for her?
Then kill her, and torture her when she came back to life.
What the hell is going on here?
"Why do you think that he waited for?" Ben asked looking straight into the Beta's eyes.
"The prophecy."
The room went silent. A pin drop could be heard it was that dead silent.
"A prophecy?" I asked.
"What is it about?" Ben asked.
"The prophecy said that there would be two pairs of new generation species in the supernatural world. One pair, could be the destruction of the world. And the other, would be the savior of the world. I, myself, think that you and Kassidy will be the saviors." The Beta looks to me, then the Ben.
"I believe that you and your brother Wren would be the destruction of the world." He said.
"And why do you think that?" Ben asked with a raised brow.
"Because, the Alpha knows of your dormant powers that are just ready to destroy everything. The special Demon power that is pumping through your veins right now, may be used as a weapon." The Beta bluntly explained.
"And what about Kassidy and I?" I ask.
"Kassidy will most likely be used as a gift to bargain with in all of this. Stylo wants her and the Alpha and Brayden want Wren. You two are their protection that will save them when they fall to either pairs of hands." He says.
"All of this is too much. A gift, for what?" I ask.
"My sister isn't something to just bargain like she isn't a person. She's precious to all of us." I started angry at his words.
This doesn't make sense.
"That's why Stylo wants her, but not as a bargaining chip." The Beta tells me.
"Then what does he want her for?" Ben asked with a frustrated face.
"As a wife." The Beta dropped the damn bomb.
"A fucking wife?!" I stand up abruptly, sending my chair flying back. Ben stood too, his hand on my shoulder.
"He claims to be in love with her." The Beta admits.
"And this is how he shows his fucked up way of loving her?!" My breathing got harsher and shorter. My hand turned into fists that shook with anger.
"What else has he done to her besides the incident at the boarders?" The Beta seemed equally confused as I was angry.
"He sends her messages, texts or on notebook paper." Ben answers for me.
"What did the handwriting look like? Do you have a picture?" Beta Ryan asked. An idea must have popped into his eyes as his eye lightened up.
"Yeah, I do." Ben pulled out his phone and pulled a picture of the note and texts Stylo sent.
Beta Ryan looked through the picture with furrowed brows. Like he didn't recognize it.
"This isn't Stylo's." The Beta shook his head and started looking at the papers scattered across his desk.
"What in the hell do you mean that this isn't Stylo? Then who the fuck could it be?!" Ben shouted.
The Beta paused his searching and looked us dead in the eye.
"The man he's working for."
