Awakening The Unknown

Chapter Unknown 29

KASH

__________

Day before trip to the Other Plain...

Ben and I looked at each other in both confusion, and in shock. "What the hell do you mean, 'the man he's working for'?" I lean forward in my chair.

The Beta looked dead serious in his assessment of the situation he's made. Knowing for sure that he was somewhat right about this.

"Are you seriously saying that there is someone else pulling the fucking strings here?!" I growled leaping out of my chair, too fast for any attempts of anyone holding me back.

"Kash, calm down!" The Beta croaked. My hands were around his neck as he laid on his back against the desk.

"Don't tell me to fucking calm down." I seethed. This thing really is blown out of proportion.

"Kash..." Ben said slowly, as if he was approaching a vicious animal in the wild.

My attention was completely on the shaken up Beta. His theory means a whole lot of shit hitting the fan for us.

And we don't need that, we already have have enough.

"Listen to me, Kash," The Beta struggled.

"Doesn't it make sense? Why would someone who loved this pack and helped this pack want to willingly want to hurt it?" He strangled out.

"It did make sense. But how is Stylo such a powerful magic user? What's in it for him if he manipulates the Alphas into starting up all this drama?" Ben added.

"I get that," I whispered under my breath, releasing the Beta from my grasp and leaning away from him.

"This is still just a theory though. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We still have a lot of unanswered questions we need answered." The Beta says while rubbing his now reddening throat.

"Does the Alpha know about this?" Ben asked. His eyes were hard and so was his face. His entire expression was stoned, he meant business.

"No. He doesn't know my thoughts on this. His agenda is different from what Stylo is doing, he wants to use Wren as the ultimate weapon, and as a mate to his daughter." The Beta says matter a factly.

Why would he need to do this for Brayden anyway?

What will he gain by having Wren as her mate, what good would it do him?

Unless...

"Is he planning to make hybrids out of Wren?!" I shout.

"Hold on for just a second. What do you mean make hybrids?" Ben asked with wide eyes.

"Why else would the Alpha want him to mate with Brayden so badly? His future grandchildren will surpass any other future Alphas in the next generations. This will be the biggest upcoming for him." I concluded, confident with my assumption.

"I can't believe this!" Ben stood up and paced back and forth across the room.

"We don't know anything yet. So why don't we all just calm down!" The Beta ordered.

My wolf automatically stopped his anxious movements inside my head.

He too, understood the circumstances our friend was in. The inner turmoil that Ben must be having right now, I feel bad about it.

"Hey," I approached Ben with a soft voice.

"It was just a theory about what maybe happening right now. It might not even be true." I placed a hand in his shoulder in comfort.

Ben is my best friend, no matter how I might feel about him in another way. I'll always put our friendship before my feelings.

And right now, he need his friend.

"I don't want my brother to be held as hostage to these wolves. And most certainly don't want Kassi to be taken to be wedded off like an object for dealing either." He admits with a slight growl in his words.

"I don't want that either, Benji, but it's what they want to do to our younger siblings. And we can't let that happen. It's our duty as the oldest brothers that we are, to protect the youngest." I smile at him. He nods and leaned a bit into my touch on his shoulder.

I could sense his wolf calming down.

Just a bit.

Silence filled the room as Ben calmed down. I could tell that the Beta was in deep though as he sat back in his desk chair. His elbows on the desk, his hands balled into fists under his chin.

His eyes looking beyond this room into a space where his thoughts would wander until they came up with some type of resolution to this problem.

"Kash," Beta Ryan called out.

"Yeah."

"I'll send you all the data and notes I have on the Alpha and this problem." He says into my eyes.

"I want you and Ben to take care of the both of them when they finish doing whatever it is that their doing." He says stacking files into their designated folds.

"Alright, thanks. For all of this. I really appreciate it." I say as I begin to walk through the door with Ben.

"Wait, Kash," Beta Ryan called out to me again.

"Yeah, What is it?" I answered.

"Keep them hidden away as long as you can. Take them to a place that no one would think to look for them at." I nod my head and remembered something.

"Kassidy and Wren are leaving tonight actually." I tell him. Ben gave me an apprehensive look that I just ignored.

"Where to?" The Beta asked with a pair of furrowed brows.

"To the Other Plain. Their meeting with their special Keeper, Solanis, to complete the mating bond ritual." I honestly tell him.

"Why would they need to be there?" He questioned.

"Well, if they do that stuff with their powers here on Earth, it would hurt and kill a lot of people. So, it's safer to do this in the Other Plain." I say, stepping through the threshold of the door and out of the Pack House with Ben.

On our way out, a shorter girl waltzed up to me with a small smirk on her face. I'll admit, she was pretty.

Brunette, an almost hourglass figure with nice curves. Not huge, but not tiny.

She swayed her hips in her jeans as she trotted towards me. "Hey, aren't you Kash Grayson?" She asked with a tilt of her curl filled head.

"Yeah, I am. And you are..?" I ask. I don't know who this chick is.

"I'm Gracie." She giggles and put her hand out to shake. I take her hand in mind and bring the soft appendage to my lips.

"Nice to meet you, Gracie." I smirked at her and winked. A deep blush settled on her naturally tanned skin. Her hazel eyes twinkling in desire met mine.

"Do you wanna hang out sometime?" She giggled.

I shrugged my shoulders and slipped my hand out of hers.

"Maybe, if I have time." I wink and start to walk again. Ben seemed quieter than usual. A somewhat small angered expression lingered on his handsome features.

Is he mad?

"Um, call me!" The girl called out as we walked out of the mansion.

Not long after a couple of steps out of the house, I was slammed into the side of the wall.

"What the fuck was that?" Ben seethed.

He was mad.

"What? I can't get a girl to have some fun with? I haven't gotten laid in almost two months. You knows what happens when I don't get laid man." I push him away from me.

"I get crazy!" I always get the worse freaking case of blue balls whenever I make plans with some girl. They flake or find their mates.

"We are supposed to be there for our siblings and you pull this shit?! I thought that we had the responsibility to do this, Kash! But you're looking for someone to screw right now." He threw his hands up and made exasperated breath.

"Are you jealous?" I pushed. I know he didn't have feelings for me, but a best friend would always be jealous of another person took their friend away.

"Jealous? What the hell for, Kash? If you being a fuckboy, at a time like this!? No, not a chance." He points a finger in my direction and rolled his eyes at me.

"No," I began.

"You're jealous because now I wanna spend my time with a pretty girl in bed." I walk up to him and punched his chee.

"I'll always be your best friend, Benji." I say in a baby voice.

"Get off of me." He shoved me away.

"I don't care who you spend your time with. But just know that I won't be here to pick your sorry ass up if you get bored with some bitch." He snarled.

His wolf was pacing angrily too.

"I won't get bored. I can tell she's a fun one. Unlike you, 'Mr. I don't talk to people because I'm low key socially awkward'." I say in a mocking tone.

He just huffed and crossed his arms to his chest and rolled his eye at my antics.

"Kash," Ben called out.

"What?" I ask with a raised brow.

"You know that you're my best friend, right?" He whispered.

"Yeah, why?" I ask with wary.

"You're my only best friend I've ever had." He admits.

My jaw went slack with shock.

What did he mean by that?

I know for a fact that he's always been friends with tons of people.

"But how? You always had a group of guys with you, surely one of them was your best friend." I tried to joke. He can't be serious right now.

"Don't think too much about it." He shrugged and stuffed his hands into his pants pockets.

"Let's find Wren and Xander. We have to tell them everything." I nodded and mindlinked the both of them.

'Head back to the car guys, we've got something.' I say over the link.

Ben and I walk towards the gate of the Pack grounds and head for the families black Cadillac I've grown accustomed to.

Back on the road to the house, silence filled the car. Our hearts heavy with anger and saddened thoughts of what's been happening to us and our loved ones.

After a while of the lingering silence, Wren spoke up.

"What now?" The question was most likely for my dad, but the question was wedged into all of our minds, adding onto the weight that holds it down.

"I have no clue, son." Dad answered warily. He sighs and runs his hands across his forehead.

"The only thing we can do is send you kids off to the Other Plain, finish your ritual and wait for something to come up." He sighs.

"You guys should be safe there. It's protected by the Keepers and gods right?" I ask looking into the visor mirror.

"Yeah, it is." Wren replies looking into my blue eyes with his still red ones.

"We'll be there for five days, I'll come back on the sixth day while she stays for five more days to build the bond from a distance." Wren explains. We all nodded in response and stayed quiet for the entire drive back home.

When we finally made it, Wren practically ripped the door open and bellowed for Kassidy.

I chuckled and shook my head. I hope we find a way to get through all this.

We always do. . .
