Chapter Unknown 25
KASSIDY
__________
Cracking my eyes open, I quickly shut them because of a stream of light shining in my eyes through the window.
I try to move, but to no avail, I can't because of a heavy weight was holding me down and smothering me.
Wren.
I try to move my arms, but they were being pinned down against my stomach that Wren was covering with his stomach. He growled softly each time I inches my arms from under him.
"Stop moving, Mate." He growled out. He's so grumpy. Must not be a morning person.
"I wouldn't have to move so much if you wouldn't smother me entirely in your sleep!" I hissed back, still trying to move.
"Fine." Wren grumbled and slightly lifted himself from on top of me. When my arms were free, he flopped back down on me wrapping his arms around my torso.
His face was snug in my neck, his deep breathing was being fanned across my neck. "Better?" He mumbled out.
I hummed in response and wrapped my arms around his shoulders and neck. "Mhmm, much better." After that, sleep came over me again...
Until Kash and Ben ran down the stairs yelling and laughing at each other.
"I will kill them both." Wren growled into my neck, snuggling farther into me than he already was.
I looked at the two horseplaying boys with an evil glare towards their direction.
"What in the living fuck are you doing yelling this early in the morning!?" I roared at the two. The stopped in their tracks as they heard my voice.
"Language!" My mom's angry roar carried through the house. We all stopped what we were doing.
"Sorry mom." I squealed. I looked to Kash and gave him a death glare.
"Oh, sorry sis, I didn't know you guys were even still here. Anais texted me saying that she need you to come over." His eyes left me to look at Wren's sleepy form.
"Without Wren." He gulped when Wren's head snapped up at his words.
"What did she say?" His voice grew dark and dropped a couple octaves lower.
I face palm and shake my head at his reaction. "Here we go again." I groan, then his gaze snapped down to me.
Uh oh.
"What did you say, Mate?" He growled in emphasis on the 'Mate' part. I shook my head and gave a nervous smile.
"N-nothing, Wren. I said something about you not wanting to be without me." I chuckled and have an innocent look.
He looked away and met Kash's gaze. "When will she leave and what time should she be back?" He reluctantly asked after a few moments of debating with himself.
Kash pulled out his phone and opened his messages with Anais. "She wants Kassidy all to herself for about five or so hours. Without you, Wren. Sorry bud." Kash shrugged his shoulders and walked into the kitchen and pulled out the piece of cheesecake Dad wouldn't let me eat last night!
Asshole.
"Put the cheesecake back, Kash!" Dad yelled from the top of the stair case.
How did he know?
Is he a psychic?
"No, I am not a psychic, Kassidy. I just know my kids better than anyone else in this world." He smirked.
Wren didn't even know me that well, but here we are on the couch snuggled in each other's embrace like we were together our whole lives.
Technically we have since we're all childhood friends, but our friendships were all strained after the years went by.
I pulled away from under Wren's crushing, but warm, weight and walked into the kitchen where a pouting Kash was. He was standing over the cheesecake in the counter with a dazed look.
He sighed. "I want to put you in my face, Cheesecake." Kash whispered to the fluffy cake. I dreamed about having that cheesecake for a while, but it shall be mine.
"Ehem!" Someone cleared their throat. Mine and Kash's daydreams of cheesecake were interrupted by Dad.
"Stop with the damn dessert you two. Eat actual breakfast foods." He turned towards me.
"Get dressed, Kassidy, Anais and Diane want you for the day. And Kash, you and the boys are coming with me today. We're going on a trip." He said to Kash with a serious expression.
"Wait, why can't I come with?" I whined. They just can't leave me out.
I'm important too!
"No, Kassidy. Now go and get ready, she'll be on her way soon." He ordered and I sauntered my way out the kitchen then halted my steps and faced my father.
"How did you know she was coming?" I was genuinely confused as to why he knew that.
Dad just shrugged and answered nonchalantly. "Your mother and I have her number. We have Kassandra and Jordan's numbers as well." I stared dumbfounded at him and walked over to me and closed my jaw.
"Now go." He spun me around with my shoulders and pushed me out the kitchen.
Rude.
I inwardly groan and trudge my way up the stairs and into my room. I look through my closet for something comfortable, but something that'll let me be flexible in a fight if needed. My eyes dart through pieces of clothing item after clothing item until my eyes found my day outfit.
Black leggings.
Black spaghetti strap crop-top.
Beige woolen cardigan.
Perfect...
I grab my clothes and head to the bathroom after grabbing panties and a bra.
My shower was about five minutes and I dried off in the same amount of time. Slipping on my undies and bra, the fog on the mirror spelled out words.
'Hurry you cutie patootie up Kassi, we have a long day ahead of us.
-Anais'
I giggled at her little message she left me. It wasn't something that I wasn't used to, Anais always used her magic to send us messages to become stronger with her powers.
Anais comes from a strong bloodline of witches, she grew into her powers at eight years old. But there were more pressing matters at hand.
I threw on my clothes and rushed into my room again to put on my black huraches. Tying my shoelaces and pulling my hair into a sloppy bun, strands hanging carelessly around my face.
I ran down the stairs at full speed, not looking where I was going, I tripped over my own foot and fell down the bottom step. Before I could hit the ground, rough large hands grabbed my arms and steadied me.
"Thanks, Dad." I smiled breathing heavily as my heart still thumped erratically against my chest.
"Yeah, and watch where the hell you're going next time you wanna rush down a flight of stairs, okay?" Dad scolded. I nodded and nervously tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and he leaned forward and kissed my forehead.
"Have fun and be safe, we don't know when he'll attack again." He kissed my forehead and ruffled my hair.
"Alright, Dad. See you later." I stood up on my tip toes and kissed his cheek. Since he was a really tall guy I had to jump. He chuckled and pulled on his leather jacket.
He looked behind him at the now too dressed boys and nodded towards the door.
"Showtime, boys." They all nodded and walked out the house behind me and piled into Dad's black Cadillac.
I looked and saw that one boy was missing. Then slight warm arms wrapped around my waist from behind. I smiled at his calming scent, soothing my nostrils with the smell of pine and rain.
"Tell me if anything happens, Mate." Wren kissed the crown of my head and jumped into the backseat with Ben. My mind goes into deep thought about Wren.
I wonder why he still calls me 'Mate' instead of my actual name?
Another mystery to solve.
I text Anais and tell her I'm ready, within seconds her sleek black motorcycle pulls into my driveway.
Dad and the boys haven't pulled off yet and looked suspiciously at the motorcycle.
No one else knew of her bike except for us girls. My mom and Diane were the only adults who knew, the rest, oblivious.
She wore all black from her ripped jeans and combat boots, to her t-shirt, leather jacket, helmet and leather gloves. As she pulled off her black shiny helmet, Wren burst through the door and went to tackle her, but I stepped in front of him and grabbed him by the collar. I slammed my body into his as we fell to the gravelly driveway, both groaning in pain.
"Who is that?" Wren growled out. I shook my head and laughed at him. He had no idea.
Anais pulled the helmet off her head and shook out her dark curls. With a sigh, she looked right into Wren's wide eyes.
"What? I like to ride." She shrugged at him. The rest of the guys in the car looked at her with gaping mouths.
"You guys might wanna shut your mouths before something flies in there." She giggled. Dad just shook his head and mumbled under his breath.
"I hope Darius knows about this." He shook his head again and pulled out of the driveway.
"Wren, lets go!" Wren got off the ground and into the backseat again, they waved and went off to wherever they had to be.
"Well, what are you waiting for, girly?" Anais smirked.
"Let's ride!" I hopped onto the bike and fastened the extra helmet that Anais had stored in a secret compartment. I held onto her waist and she kicked back the kickstand and sped off into the wind.
"Where are we going!?" I yelled into her ear as the wind blew past us.
She slightly turned her head while still looking at the road.
"We're going out to lunch, I'll explain once we get there!" She smiled and I nodded.
"Okay!" I shouted. She switched gears and sped even faster down the road of Raven's Creek.
Once we made it into town, Anais slowed her bike to a stop in front of a small diner called Johnson's Family Diner.
She turned off the engine and put down the kickstand hopping off of the bike and me joining her. We walked through the glass door and headed for a small table in the back.
I look up at her to see a shit eating smile already on her beautiful caramel brown features.
"What are you looking at?" I said with squinted eyes.
"Oh, nothing. It's just funny that you would rather go insane with rage than have sex with your mate." She giggled and my face blushed crimson.
"It's just gold." She laughed whole-heartedly and wiped fake tears from the corners of her eyes.
"Haha, very funny." I rolled my eyes and threw a sugar packet at her forehead. She swatted at it and chuckled.
"And, besides, we don't know much about each other anymore. Yeah, we all grew up together, but with all the drama and danger we all grew apart. Besides the fact that we both died to become something more, we only know each other because of that." I explained.
Anais just nodded her head in agreement and sighed.
"There is a special ritual that you and Wren will have to do. You'll spend exactly five days getting to know each other inside out. Secrets, your pasts, your strengths, your weaknesses too. Then you two will do the deed, but there is something else that happens when you do that." I nod my head in understanding.
No other mates ever did this shit.
There is a whole process to our mating, everyone else has to just kiss them jump in the sack together and boom.
Mating completed.
"Okay," I nod my head some more. "I think I understand." She smiled and continued.
"Once you guys have sex, you have spend another five days away from each other and let the bond grow completely before you see each other again and basically pounce on each other." She said nonchalantly while waving a waiter over to take our orders.
"What'll be, ladies?" A shaggy haired guy our age stopped at our table with a notepad in his hands.
We both picked up menus and answered.
"Double chocolate chip muffins, with caramel frappes to drink." I ordered for the both of us. She gave me an appreciated smile and set her menu down onto the table.
"Coming right up." He smiled and winked at Anais. She smiled back and waved him off.
"You, my friend, are such a player." I laughed and she fake gasped and leaned towards me with an eyebrow raised.
"Who me, darling, I would never! And he is pretty hot though, his eyes were really sexy...they were hazel." she dreamily sighed.
I shook my head at her and smiled.
"Sounds like someone else we know." I tell her and shrugged and looked everywhere but her.
"We're not gonna talk about him, Kassi." Her eyes casted down.
"Hey, I miss him too, but," I reached for her hands. When she didn't hold my hand back, I clapped my hands and tapped them against the table.
"We have to get back to our conversation about the mating ritual." I reminded her.
She straightened her back and wiped the sad look from her face.
"Ehem." She cleared her throat.
"Where did we leave off?" She thought for a second. "Oh yeah, you have to spend five days together and then spend an entire day and night together, then leave each other for five more days." She explained and I nodded.
"Why do we have to spend one full day together instead of the five days?" I wondered out loud.
I know the first five days are for getting to know each other, but why one day to mate?
"Remember I told you that you need to take the whole day to you to slowly go through the steps of mating." She further elaborated.
"Well, why do we need to be slow with our..." I blushed again at the thought.
"Deed." She giggled and clapped her hands likely was the funniest thing ever.
"Because, your bodies and minds will be connecting to each other's. You would have to go through each step of intimacy." The waiter came back and set our food down and nodded after we said thanks.
"For example: kissing, hugging, groping, grinding, tearing off clothes, and all that good stuff. Just slowly. The process will take time latching each and every piece of your guys energies together, thus making Wren's two energies become one and yours to become controlled and stronger." She nodded proudly at her conclusion.
I leaned back in my chair and started to wrap my head around all of this new information given to me.
I rocked my body back and forth just in time to see the waiter checking out Anais.
"Look over." I told her. She looked over at the waiter, he smirked at Anais and waited other tables.
"Back to business." She blushed and turned back to me. She placed her hands on the table and leaned forward with a chocolate smudge on new chin.
"After the first five days, the one day together, you two will have to spend five days away from each other." She chewed her muffin. I choked on my own muffin and stared up at he with wide eyes.
"What do you mean spend five days away from each other? Shouldn't we spend those five days enjoying each other's company and stuff like that?" I looked at my friend with bewildered eyes.
She shook her head and laughed.
"Nope, you have to stay away for the bond to work its magic by the separation between the two of you. I know. It sucks." She shrugged and popped another piece of chocolate muffin in her mouth.
I grabbed my cup of frappe and sipped slowly. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
What the hell are we supposed to do?
I know that Wren wouldn't want any distance from me, especially since he's in his demon state still.
He's been clingier while in that state and it's scary to have a demon holding onto you all of the time.
"How will you convince Wren to spend five days away from me?" I smirked at her.
She smirked right back and spoke.
"I'm not. You are."
All the blood drained from my face as I looked up into her eye.
"How long do I have until it's ritual time?" I gulped.
She shrugged and smirked at me.
"Forty-eight hours." She looked at her wrist watch.
"Starting now." I gulped down some more of my frappe. I look at our waiter and call out for him.
"Do we have anything stronger?" I'm gonna need it.
