Chapter Storm 16
WREN
__________
Seven months after Kassidy's death. . .
I sat down on the concrete floor. Channeling my powers after such a long time was not as hard as I thought it would be. All of our doors were unlocked and open thanks to Cardie and Anais, and now we all sat together and were summoning our powers.
"How long will it take for all of you to be at full power?" Cardinal asked. My eyes were closed but I sensed her to the left of me.
"Not too long, especially for Wren, Ben and Kash. But Isaac will some juice to get him going." Anais answered with sigh.
"He is a vamp after all."
They were quiet after that.
The air cracked with a dark, magnifying aura. Ben had finally tapped into his powers again. I gave a sigh of relief in my mind, thinking he wasn't going to pull entirely through.
I know he hated his powers, but he helped a lot when he used them. He may not realize it, but I do, and I'll always appreciate him for it.
I can feel him still holding back, but his power doesn't need to be fully released to give him enough strength to get out of here.
My own power ripples underneath my skin. The feeling of electricity crackling and popping in my blood. The air had gotten considerably colder and the ground began to shake. I grunted a bit when I felt my gums ache with dull pain from my canines descending. My eyes twitched under my lids as the feeling of the color changed happened.
It's been such a long time since I've used my powers, I forgot how the process happened. I usually wouldn't feel the changes, and if I did, it wasn't like this. My powers came natural to me, like it's supposed to be this way.
Now, it just feels forced.
The half shift I have this time is a lot different from the first I had. The first was powerful and had manipulated a storm, sure.
But I knew if I kept this us I'll destroy the whole building before anyone else gets the chance to release their own powers. So I stopped before my full shift.
I'm pretty sure my hair had gotten fuller and shaggier than before we started but, that's to be expected.
Everyone who had a wolf did.
My body felt heavier with the power running through it. I stood up and paced around a bit and then decided to stand next to Anais and Cardinal.
"Talk to me." I turned my head slightly to look at Anais. She lifted an unkept brow at me and gave a tilted smile.
"What do you wanna know, Wrennie?" She crossed her arms over her chest and looked over at the guys.
Issac was leaning on a wall with his arms crossed. A dazed look drifted onto his face as he looked out at nothing in particular. I guess he knew I was looking at him and his eyes met mine.
"You like what you see?" He asked with a smirk. He uncrossed his arms and strode over to me.
"You look drained." I said, he just rolled his eyes and sighed.
"That's because I am, jackass." He pushes my shoulder playfully and looked over at Anais.
"Is anyone willing to juice me up, or am I gonna have to binge myself and dirty my pretty little hands?" I shrugged at his question with a small chuckle. I heard Kash and Ben give laughs too.
"You do realize that you can't munch on almost anyone in this dungeon, right?" Anais rolled her eyes at him and pulled back her oversized black t-shirt.
"Come on, what kind of friend would I've if I let you starve to death?" She have a small smile.
Isaac looked at her warily and gave a look that questioned her. She nodded and he took hesitant steps over to her.
"You sure? Because apparently Noah's coming back, and he'll probably need you more than I do." He told her.
She rolled her eyes again.
"Fine." She snapped the shirt and let it fall back to her collar bone.
"If you slaughter a whole bunch of people, don't say that I didn't give some kind of warning. But if you do slaughter people, it'll be okay in this case." She shrugged and scratched her hair.
"Just hold on just a little longer, we'll be out soon." Cardinal's voice was filled with reassurance, it gave hope that this would be all over soon.
"Yeah, thanks." Isaac shook his head and wiped his hand down his face.
I looked around the room again and seen that Kash and Ben were finished, for now at least.
We couldn't exactly shift in here, our wolves were huge now and wouldn't be able to fit in here.
"Ready?" I asked. Kash stood up on shaky legs with Ben's help and wobbled until he was good standing on his own.
"Yeah, we're ready." Ben responded with a nod.
I turned to Anais to ask her about how we planned to navigate out, when the same bright light from before flashed right behind me.
"Wait, what's happening now?" Kash whined throwing his hands up exasperatedly.
I turned around and seen Cardinal glowing and trying to say something before they light blasted her through again.
"I'll be back! I promise!" She cried as the light receded and she disappeared into nothingness.
"What the hell was that?" Ben rolled his eyes and ran a hand through his shaggy hair.
"Is she gone now?" I nodded as I tried to sense and look for her and felt that she was no longer in this plain with us.
"No." I huffed and turned to Anais who was sporting a slightly pale look on her caramel features.
"Do you know what that was?" I asked her.
"That wasn't normal magic, but it's not what we need to be focusing on right now." She ran a hand through her ratty, curly hair and sighed.
"We have to get going, since Isaac looks like he's gonna pass out at any moment." She huffed a dry laugh.
She turned her back to us and walked down the cobbled dungeon floor to the wooden door. The rest of us followed as we all stood face to face with our oncoming freedom.
"Let's blow this popsicle stand."
