Alpha’s Rejected Second Chance Mate by Pradeep

Chapter 43

Chapter 43

Crystal’s POV

“What are they, Theo?” I asked Theo while looking at the creatures circling around us. I was now freaking out inside the car. We were going to the Royal Pack when some freaking creatures attacked us.

“You don’t need to worry, love… We are already prepared for this,” Theo comforted me while looking outside the car. I saw our warriors circling our car to keep us safe, but now I was worried for their safety. How could I not worry in this situation?

“Let’s go out, Theo. What…. Whatever they are…. We…. we can’t just let them hurt our people,” I insisted, still looking out of the window. I was not looking at Theo, and that was why I didn’t know what reaction he had right now.

“Hey… hey… look at me,” he suddenly said, cupping my face, and pulled my face towards him. “I got this…. Just stay inside, and we will be on our way soon,” he said in a calm tone, trying to comfort me, but I glared at him. Did he really think that I was scared?

“Do you think that I will stay inside, saving my ass, when our people will fight with those monsters?” I asked him angrily, and he sighed aloud. He was about to open his mouth again when I cut him off while raising my hand in the air, not leaving any room for any argument. “We are going out… and don’t argue with me on this, Theo. I am trained enough to not only defend myself but others as well,” I said in a stern voice while looking at him with an angry gaze.

He sighed and k*ssed my forehead. Luna was still growling at the back of my mind, as she also didn’t want to leave our people out there to die saving me. Theo sighed helplessly and then looked out of the window behind me. He then looked back at me with a different gaze. He was now calm and looked determined. “Let’s show them what we are, love,” Theo murmured, making me smile this time.

“Let’s get out, girl… I am itching to put these monsters in their places. Whatever they are…. They can’t just show up in front of us, threatening us for our lives, Luna roared at the back of my mind. “Let’s show them who is the real boss,” 1 chirped too, echoing her thoughts. Both I and Theo opened the doors of the car on our sides.

Chapter 43

All the warriors were snarling harder to scare those creatures, but they were producing some weird kinds of sounds, making the whole situation creepier than I thought. I went straight beside Nathan while looking at those creatures in confusion. “What exactly are they?” I murmured once again while taking an attacking stance in between Nathan and Theo now.

“Hybrids,” Theo answered in a calm tone, and my eyes widened in shock. “But the result of experiments….. Not born,” he said further, and my eyes almost popped out of their sockets in horror. Who was so insane that he turned normal people into monsters?

What was his real intention behind it? How torturous would it be for these people? I could see that there was no humanity left in their eyes. I felt pity for them, but there was nothing that we could do for them.

“Take this.” Suddenly, a gun popped in front of my eyes, taking me off guard. I looked up and saw Theo holding a gun in front of me. His eyes

were on those creatures, though.

“They are half werewolf, and half vampire, Crystal. They have the abilities of both creatures, making them better than us in every aspect,” he briefed me, and I scoffed. “They’re still not more intelligent as us,” I commented while. cracking my n*eck. I took the gun from Theo’s hand and unlocked it immediately. Although I was sympathetic towards them, they were now nothing but monsters now, thirsty for blood, and death.

Theo commanded every warrior to be back–to–back with each other while securing me with him. I was still studying their behavior and it seemed abnormal to me. They were stalling instead of attacking us. If they were here. to kill us, then they should have attacked by now. Could it be that they were preparing a ground for something bigger than this?

“Attack on them…. now,” I immediately roared when I realized that they were up to something else than what they were showing right now. At my command, all of us immediately pulled our guns towards them. “They are not going to attack us. Something worse is coming, and we need to get out of here before it reaches us,” I roared taking a clear shot at a creature in front of me.

“Stay focused, girl….. if they have vampire abilities too then they will be out of line in half of a second,” Luna warned me, and I just nodded to her mentally. When Alpha Adrian started my training with weapons, he always had me blindfolded. It always irked me, and I protested so many times but he never

listened to me. Now his training is the only way for me to save everyone here.

“Don’t aim directly at them but either side of them. They will immediately move away from their original position as soon as they will hear the gunshot,” I instructed all of them through the mind–link. They all confirmed it immediately, and then we started firing at them. They snarled louder and. started jumping from one place to another in a very quick manner, surprising all of us.

“Don’t fire on whiff…. try to figure out their next move, and then shoot,” I commanded everyone again as they were shooting blindly. We were not in the pack and would run out of bullets very soon. “We have two minutes, and we should get out of here. I am having a very bad feeling about the third minute,” Luna urged me in a worried tone.

“But don’t use any of our powers. What if it’s a trap by any of our enemies to access our abilities?” She suddenly yelled at me, giving me a warning when I was about to use my elemental power. I took a deep breath and then. concentrated on my hearing. “Concentrate on their movements, Theo. We only have two minutes,” I mind–linked Theo while closing my eyes.

Luna immediately took over my senses. “They are faster than we anticipated, Crystal. We need to get out of here,” Theo mind–linked at me, using a worried tone. “I know, use your hearing instead of your eyes,” I answered him in a calm. tone while Luna was trying to figure out how fast they could run.

I smirked when I got the pattern. “They are twenty in total, and we have killed five so far. They are random in their movements, and above all, not trained to attack. Take shots three meters away from either side of their bodies,” I instructed everyone, what Luna assessed.

Everyone confirmed my command immediately. “Ask the drivers to start the engine. We will all get out in the next forty–five seconds, Theo. Luna is sensing some kind of danger coming our way,” I instructed Theo this time in a calm. way and kept on shooting with my eyes closed as it was easy to concentrate on their movements.

Right, my Luna,” he answered me in a teasing tone, making me roll my eyes internally, “When I say retreat, jump inside the vehicles, and close all the windows immediately, I instructed everyone and started a reverse countdown at the back of my mind.

“Now,” I roared as soon as I finish the counting. The next second, Theo was holding the door open for me. I was about to jump inside the car when I froze. I inhaled sharply and immediately moved back. “Let’s go, Crystal,” Theo urged, but my eyes widened in shock when I got a whiff of a very familiar

scent.

“What is Alpha Adrian doing here?” I asked Theo in a panicked tone. “I will explain it to you later, love. Let’s go now. He mind–linked me just now, and asked me to leave this place. They will take care of them,” Theo told me. I wanted to protest, but I jumped inside the car. If Alpha Adrian has instructed this, then there was no way that I was going to disobey him.

“What’s really going on, Theo?” I asked Theo as soon as Nathan drove away the car. He took a deep breath, and rubbed his temple. I waited for him to explain the situation patiently, but I was not holding myself with a thin thread.

“Two days ago, we got some information about these creatures, and also an information about their attack on us. I talked with Killian, and he asked me not to cancel our schedule as it’s really important for your advance training to reach the royal pack. we planned a defensive plan, and Alpha Adrian is backing up secretly,” he told me, and I scoffed bitterly.

“Whose idea was to keep me out of this loop?” I asked him in a bitter tone, and he looked at me with a helpless gaze. I immediately looked out of the closed window, fuming in anger. Of course, I knew whose idea this was. “I am sorry, love, Theo whispered, but it fumed my anger.

“We don’t have time to vent our anger at him, kiddo. There is a heavy presence of a strong aura in our way ahead. I can’t tell if it is friendly or not,” Luna said in a worried tone, and I narrowed my eyes. “Will I lower the window. a little?” I asked her in a calm tone.

“When I say then,” she answered me, and I nodded to her. “Crystal,” I sighed. when Theo once again called me in a low tone. “I am disappointed with you, Theo. You made me feel useless,” I said to him in a low but bitter tone. “I am really sorry,” he said but it didn’t ease my heart.

“Nathan, I called Nathan instead of answering Theo. “Yes, Crystal,” he immediately answered, “Command everyone to shift control with their wolves, and use their wolf’s hearing and smelling powers instead of human

enses instructed him, and he nodded immediately.

“You know that I can do this too,” Theo said in a light tone, but I scoffed again. “I can do this too, but we need to preserve our energy. I don’t know why but I am having a feeling that something bad is waiting for us on our way,” I answered Theo this time, still looking out of the window.

“A troupe of royal warriors is waiting for us about half a mile from here,” he informed me, and I nodded. “Ask their leader to mask their scents, and hide themselves well. They don’t need to come out of hiding until asked,” I instructed Theo, still having my gaze outside.

He didn’t answer me, but I heard him opening his phone. We were passing through a thick forest, but it was really weird that I didn’t see any birds or small animals anywhere. It seemed as if the whole forest had no living life inside it. “Did you get anything?” I asked Luna after some time. “It seems friendly,” she answered me in a calm tone, and I felt relieved.

Still, we need to stay alert,” she continued, and I agreed with her immediately. “Let’s wait for them to show themselves,” I said, and she nodded to me this time. “Vampires… they are waiting for you a mile away from your current location.” Suddenly, Alpha Adrian’s voice boomed through the pack mind link. I sighed and cracked my n*eck again. It was going to be a bumpy ride.
