Chapter 50
My sister suffers Her mate, who was exiled from the pack.
She's a new wolf, learning rules that probably don't make sense to her human mind, in a new relationship where forever may be honest, and in a new society were eating raw meat and fighting half-naked in the frigid cold is usual. "Oh, my God, this is insane." She huffs and sobs again.
I don't speak.
"I can't, Susan. "Her voice trembles, and she must be shaking.
"Breathe. Calm down," Her sobbing and tears stopped instantly, and I step into the tub to relax. Water sloshes everywhere, but I don't mind. "Say, Neme." I demand.
"Hunter woke me after we crashed. I was bewildered, drenched in blood, and lost. He yanked my seat belt and cursed under his breath to force me out of my vehicle. So quick, Susan. I was stranded one moment and, being dragged by Hunter the next, my vehicle in flames. He continued strolling through the woods, and I was alternately awake and asleep. Until I awoke in Hunter's bed. I was scared, and then he talked about how glad he was that I didn't die!" "You got your mark?" I inquire.
Her quiet is the answer I need, her flushing alongside me, "I'm not sorry I mated with Hunter. He was lovely and sensitive, and it was beautiful to have sex with someone I didn't know. I regret how I handled you after the vehicle accident. "Hunter taught me everything about the pack, what we did, why we did it. When I inquired about you, Hunter said he couldn't tell me anything. I had to maintain my distance and not bother David since your the pack's future. You'll make the difference. 'She might assist or hurt this pack, Baby,' he said. It ached to watch you so anxious to go. The type of Luna you could be, a powerful, determined Luna who would do everything for the ones you loved.
"So you couldn't stop Hunter or David from dragging me back when I ran away?"
"No," she sobs.
My head hits the tub's edge. It's clear now. Neme learned about the group and wolves initially.
"It's scary, Susan. Angry. But terrified, not furious. He understands the pack needs you to improve things. You see things differently. reducing training hours and repairing pack rivalry is an unimaginable option for David and Hunter. You're also the obnoxious sister that always distracts his brother."
"What does it even mean?"
Neme guffaws, "So does he. He misses the guy time they had before we arrived nearby."
Oh, my God. What's up with you?
"He's a huge baby, if I'm honest."
"Then why not tell David?"
I didn't because Hunter begged me not to. "See where it got us? You got scratched, David raged, and Hunter was confined."
We return to quiet, saying nothing. I need to speak to Hunter and rectify things.
"Will he be out by moonlight festival?"

"I dunno," Neme replies. "David's choice."
"Don't you want to spend that day with him?"
"Your smell is unique," Neme says.
Unbelievably, I grin as I shake my head.
Neme just half-smiles at my pleased grin. When my "scent" changes, I know it's my period.
I lean back on the tub and shift my bare body since resting still makes my butt numb. The water becomes chilly, and I enjoy hot baths. Neme sighs and adds, "I'll leave you to bathe. Just had to call you. Sorry for the interruption." I tell her it's OK and I'll see her at supper. Even though I know I will, I don't tell her.
After chatting with Neme and having a bath, I'm more motivated to discover where Hunter is banned. So that's my strategy.
I exhale with relief as I see no one around the office.
I can find the map posted on the wall. When I initially saw the map, I was astounded that someone had hand-drawn the whole region.
The map is huge, so finding his place may take longer than expected. But I can't stay long since my smell will fill the room, and I know David will notice when he returns from his Alpha task.
Almost every shrub and tree has been drawn to make the terrain as realistic as possible. And, wow, that looks genuine. The last names of all families are inscribed a centimeter below the depicted home where the family resides. On the mansion, or packhouse, I read the last names. I grin when I read Luna Susan.
Looking at the map again, I discover numerous named trails I had never heard of I am frightened when I discover Hunter's cottage is near where masked guy initially assaulted me.
Sure, I reassure myself.
I'm assuming Hunter's cabin is the only one secluded from the pack. And the name For the Mates underneath the illustrated cabin confirms my idea. I mentally calculate the time it will take me to locate the route from the packhouse and reach the cottages.
I'll come back after supper if I leave now. That tightening of David's grip around my waist when we sleep prevents me from leaving. I have no plans for tomorrow morning.
I review the map one final time before quietly exiting the office. Jessica, who sounds like a worried mother, yells my name as I go through the kitchen.
My body stops as I ponder whether to go inside or ignore Jessica and keep going. If I ignore her, she'll probably tell David, and he'll come after me.
"Yes?" I inquire, turning on my heel and strolling into the kitchen in my thick winter attire.
Jessica observes my clothing and raises an amused brow. "Heading off?" she says as she crumbles shopping bags.
Fear not. Keep calm.
"I'm going to aid David."
